We have decided to take a different approach on this and have now developed a working AI Search Engine prototype for Bitcointalk Forum,
To gather initial feedback and improvements before rolling out a major update, I'll have it running live as an experimental demo for the next few days/weeks, Feel free to try it out and let me know your thoughts:
https://my-zone.net/bitcointalk

Please note that you will need to register an account with your email to access the AI Search, this is just a basic measure to prevent abuse.
Edit 1: You are no longer required to create an account to ask the first few questions.
it's purely conversational and can understand queries about Bitcointalk.

Let me know what you think after trying the demo, all feedback helps.

Requiring registration is a turnoff for many users, especially when the alternatives are easier to access. Not to mention you're only running a demo version. Why not implement something like search query limitation instead of user registration? I think that will attract more users (although the AI label can be a turnoff for many too), so you'll get more feedback.

Let me know what you think after trying the demo, all feedback helps.

I managed to register with temporary email, so here's my short feedback.
1. The initial response is rather slow, where it took about 2-3 minutes with various progress message (such as loading/warming up the AI model).
2. It's good to see the AI return with source link, so we can do some verification.
3. The AI tends to repeat information/previous chat, when not asked to. Here's an example, where it repeat key measure against SEO spam, when i ask about overall sentiment.

How Bitcointalk deal with SEO spam?

Bitcointalk AI Search

Result:Based on Bitcointalk, the forum employs multiple strategies to deal with SEO spam and maintain the quality of discussions. Here are the key measures in place:

Strict Moderation Policies: Bitcointalk has established clear rules that prohibit various forms of spam, including SEO spam. For example, the forum explicitly bans referral code spam, low-value posts, and duplicate postings. This framework is designed to discourage users from engaging in spammy practices commonly associated with SEO (source).

Community Reporting: Users are encouraged to report any posts they suspect of being spammy, including those that contain non-relevant links. This community involvement is crucial for identifying and addressing SEO spam effectively (source).

Prohibition of Advertisements: The forum restricts the posting of advertisements and unsolicited private messages that are intended for advertising purposes. This measure helps reduce the presence of spam-related content (source).

Encouragement of Quality Contributions: Users are advised to focus on creating high-quality, meaningful posts rather than participating solely for SEO benefits. The merit system in place also plays a role in promoting valuable contributions over spammy ones (source).

Detection Tools and Techniques: Some users have suggested improvements to detection tools for identifying SEO spam more effectively. Techniques that spammers use, such as small font sizes or padding posts with irrelevant links, are acknowledged, and there's an ongoing discussion about enhancing tools to counter these tactics (source).

Self-Moderated Topics: The introduction of self-moderated topics enables original posters to delete replies that do not adhere to forum guidelines, giving control back to users and helping to maintain quality (source).

Through these combined efforts, Bitcointalk aims to create a more engaging and spam-free environment for its users, fostering meaningful discussions while actively working against SEO spam. For further insights, you can explore discussions on specific measures here and here.

What is current community sentiment against SEO spam on Bitcointalk?

Bitcointalk AI Search

Result:Based on Bitcointalk, the current community sentiment against SEO spam is largely negative, reflecting a proactive stance towards maintaining the quality of discussions on the forum. Users have expressed concerns about the increasing presence of SEO spam, particularly with tactics that evade detection, such as using small font sizes and irrelevant links.

Here are the key aspects of community sentiment and actions taken against SEO spam:

Strict Moderation Policies: The forum has established clear rules prohibiting SEO spam, referral code spam, low-value posts, and duplicate postings. These policies are designed to discourage users from engaging in spammy practices that degrade the quality of discussions (source).

Community Reporting: Users are actively encouraged to report suspicious posts that may contain spam. This involvement is crucial for identifying and addressing SEO spam effectively, demonstrating a collective effort to uphold forum integrity (source).

Focus on Quality Contributions: There is a strong emphasis on creating meaningful posts rather than those aimed solely at SEO benefits. The merit system in place rewards valuable contributions, further promoting a culture of quality over quantity (source).

Detection Tools and Improvements: Ongoing discussions among users suggest that there is a recognized need for better detection tools to identify SEO spam tactics. This indicates a proactive community sentiment aiming to enhance the forum's defenses against such practices (source).

Self-Moderated Topics: The introduction of self-moderated topics allows original posters to manage replies, giving users control over their discussions and helping maintain quality (source).

Overall, the community demonstrates a robust commitment to combating SEO spam, reflecting a desire for a cleaner and more engaging forum environment. For further insights on these efforts, you can explore additional discussions here and here.

4. It answers some question about Bitcoin better than i expected.
5. When i refresh the chat page, it doesn't save previous chat session.

Overall your AI is better than i expected. Although i can see spammer will misuse your AI to create better-looking post.

P.S. i can't use full page screenshot feature on my browser, since the chat have it's own scroll bar.

Good initiative @u0u..
I tried to teste run it and it is working fine over but, I think it's taking longer time to process information., like before it would compile the question asked it takes up to 3-10 minutes, and i think there should be a faster approach towards this to enable it process information more faster and quickly.

Then the funny thing is I tried to search something about "the most trustworthy user on bitcointalk community" and here is the people listed and I was actually surprised to see the person listed first while I was taking other as the most trustworthy user.

But the links provided Inside seems to be that repetitive, there should be a separate link that proves their trustworthiness.

Edit..
I made use of it without registering, this is good at least is a bit private.

Thank you for your feedback!
currently, we don't have access to a full data dump of user stats or trust ratings. The AI is trained to work with some scraped post content only, which limits its ability to truly analyze user trust levels and other metrics.

If anyone in the community is able to provide a clean dataset of forum data with user stats, trust indicators, etc... we would be more than happy to integrate it. That would help the AI give much more accurate and transparent answers regarding trustworthiness and other forum metrics.

You are no longer required to create an account to ask the first few questions.
Time for my feedback: I asked a question about sending a Fork coin without replaying on another chain. The answer was partially correct, but some of the details are wrong. I won't use this, I prefer a search that shows actual posts.

I see the same problem as all "AI" chatbots: it's impressive at first sight, but the details are inaccurate.

Yes, the searches are slow and you still need to fact check everything, but overall it's a quantum leap over post based searches, although those will always be necessary for simpler queries.

For a first attempt, it's a damn good job.   The owners will have to recoup their costs though, as I cannot see a reduced response time without increasing resource use and therefore cost.

(OP - what country is your company incorporated in?   I'm wondering how tariffs will affect services like this.   If OP is in Canada and offers this service to US citizens, will they have to pay extra for such a service?)

Very cool, OP. I had this idea of doing what Grok does with X where you ask about a recent event i.e "who won the last game against Real Madrid" and it looks around at the tweets on the social network to answer based on that.

Basically I have the entire forum post dataset being scraped in real time on beta.ninjastic.space, I would be able to ask "who launched the AI Search engine for bitcointalk" and my system would find and feed your post to the IA, making it aware of your contribution and thus replying "user u0u launched the AI Search Engine as announced on the topic [AI Search Engine] Bitcointalk"

But I don't have the expertise to do that. Tongue

Thank you for this wonderful achievement. I really liked it and will definitely add it to my favorites and use it often.

As a test, I searched for my username in the forum. I thought I'd just get the threads where my name was mentioned, but I was surprised to find a summary of my history in the forum from the time I first registered to the present day.

The interesting thing about the smart search is that I found the first campaign I participated in here in the forum. I had completely forgotten about it and had a hard time finding it.
However, I felt the search was a bit slow, but thank you for this excellent work.

They will probably use what the other AI companies are doing which is to make subscription model where you get longer, better replies, you have to pay $20 a month.

But I don't see how that's going to work with this site, because there aren't many users of search, which means even less paying customers.

I think tariffs are only for importing hardware.

The possibilities are endless!, but as with any AI system, the accuracy of responses depends on the scale, categorization, and cleaning of the data, as well as the training efforts involved, which come at a cost. The more refined the dataset, the more accurate the outcomes.

That said, Im currently gauging community demand for a tool like this. If there is real interest, I can certainly invest more into making it far more powerful, accurate, and specialized.

The current search prioritizes depth over speed, and thats by design for now. The trade-off is pretty simple, time/cost. Achieving both fast and highly detailed results requires significant compute resources, which means higher costs.
since this is a digital tool, there is no U.S. tariff involved even if I were based in Canada or elsewhere...

That said, this is just the beginning!

Tongue

Maybe we can cooperate on this, If you are already scraping the forum in real time and can provide a fast API or DB access, I could definitely integrate it into the pipeline.
That way, we could feed live results alongside the existing scraped and indexed data, and push it through the AI for richer, more up-to-date responses.

It could even open the door to 'real-time awareness' for trending threads, mentions, and recent events, basically like a lightweight Grok tailored for Bitcointalk

Yes, the searches are slow and you still need to fact check everything, but overall it's a quantum leap over post based searches, although those will always be necessary for simpler queries.

They will probably use what the other AI companies are doing which is to make subscription model where you get longer, better replies, you have to pay $20 a month.

But I don't see how that's going to work with this site, because there aren't many users of search, which means even less paying customers.

I think tariffs are only for importing hardware.

Im experimenting with different ways to balance performance and cost, but ultimately it is a tradeoff, either lose time or spend more.
I have not settled on a model yet, could be donation-based or a limited free tier with optional premium access if demand justifies it, It all depends on how useful people find it here and whether it gains traction.

Hey @u0u, you shouldn't make those responses one by one making them come from different posts, that's spam on this forum as far as I know. It doesn't count as spam if you have a response reply first. I've reported it to the moderators so they can be merged.

Very interesting concept, I just tried it and asked a few questions about my activity on the forum and my main interests.

Answers were mostly correct, but I was surprised that I was apparently interested in Blockchain health solutions. When I asked to give me links to threads in which I participated about this topic it gave me bunch of links that I saw for the first time.

Nevertheless I find this to be very promising and I'm sure it will be great addition to the forum for summarising threads and user activity.

Thank you, I actually tried to quote 2-3 posts in each reply to keep things organized, Sorry if it came off that way..

If you don't mind me asking (and feel free to not answer): what kind of running cost are we looking at here?
