Hello,

I am seeking your expertise regarding issues encountered with my Antminer S19j Pro, following the installation and attempted reinstallation of the Vanish firmware. Below is a detailed report of the situation:

🔍 Device Information:

Model: Antminer S19j Pro

Initially installed firmware: Vanish

📅 History and Description of Issues:

Initial Operation: The miner operated normally with the Vanish firmware for about five weeks.

Issue Encountered: The message “DevFee Online” appeared on the miner’s screen.

Troubleshooting Attempts: I uninstalled the Vanish firmware using the Vanish Toolkit.

I then tried to reinstall it immediately, still using the Toolkit.

During reinstallation, an error message appeared, preventing the firmware installation.

Current Device Status: Since these operations:

The red LED indicator remains continuously on.

The fans are running at full speed.

I still have access to the Bitmain interface via IP.

However, the hashrate is missing.

🛠️ Actions Already Taken:

Restarting the miner.

Factory reset.

Reinstalling the firmware via the Vanish Toolkit (with an error, so installation is impossible).

Checking physical connections (hashboards and control board).

Visual inspection of hashboards (no visible damage).

Checking the power supply (stable and sufficient voltage).

🧩 Additional Information:

No hardware modifications have been made to the miner.

The issues appeared after uninstalling the Vanish firmware and attempting reinstallation.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or a solution to restore the proper functioning of my miner. I am also facing similar issues with an Antminer XP showing EEPROM errors, with the same behavior as the S19j Pro (fans running at full speed, no data on the Bitmain interface, except for the detected boards). I attempted a reset via SD card, but it didn’t work. Also, it is impossible to reset the S19j Pro via SD card as it only has an UART port.

Is this the whole miner log?
Would you mind to edit your logs and put it inside the code tag you can find this code tag when editing your post it's a # button then put all of these inside the code tag.

About your logs I don't see any other issue than EEPROM error.
Would you mind running it first for 30 minutes before taking the miner logs we might find more clue if it shows other errors.

Also, I'd like to ask if where did you download Vnish firmware?
If it's not from awesomeminer I suugest test the firmware from Awesomeminer.

I'm sending you the logs using the code tag. Sorry, I'm new and I wasn't aware of that feature.
I downloaded the Vnish firmware from the official Vnish website and installed it using the Toolkit.

The logs and my response are in the message just above. I forgot to mention you in the previous message.
I'm sending you the logs using the code tag. Sorry, I'm new and I wasn't aware of that feature.
I downloaded the Vnish firmware from the official Vnish website and installed it using the Toolkit.
thank you in advance for your response

Based on this logs chain 0 seems have issue that's the only hashboard got the error and stop hashing.

I'd like you to try to remove the chain 0 hashboard it should be the 1st hashboard and try to run the unit without chain 0. Check the logs for differences let's see if the two hashboard will run normally. Update the result here if it works then that hashboard is broken it needs to be replaced.

It's all good! You were right! It was board number 1 that was faulty, because when I plug it in, it's impossible to detect the ASIC using the Braiins OS Toolbox. But to figure that out, I had to use Braiins OS, because with Bitmain's BIOS, I couldn't do anything! Thanks a lot!

As for the S19XP, I also switched it to Braiins OS, and the error message that appears is:

PSU initialization: I2C write {{ERR:P3}}: I2C: no ACK received P3
Communication with PSU failed (I2C write)
Check the cable connecting the PSU with the control board or replace the PSU

This error shows up every time the ASIC tries to start. As for the miner's behavior, it spins slowly, then speeds up like it's trying to start some process, but it fails — and it keeps repeating that loop. I cleaned the PSU but nothing changed.

Thanks in advance for your help!

if you own multiple s19 and s21 units.

or all s19 or all s21 units.

You should have a few extra controllers.

here are 2 custom controllers

It looks like the control board can't able to communicate with the PSU. Since you tried to replace the PSU, what PSU model did you replace it with?
Some PSU models do not support the S19XP. The APW12 series has different models; you better check the model of the replaced PSU.

Check the list of supported model from Bitmain here: https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us/articles/15909673875993-Choose-the-correct-PSU-for-popular-models-of-ANTMINER

If it's a supported PSU and the 4-pin cable is working fine, then there might be an issue with your control board.

However, I would like you to try first to do some more troubleshooting, but this time use the stock firmware because maybe the latest model of APW12 does not support Braiins.
We might find some clue from stock firmware. Reflash it back to Bitmain's firmware and check the logs and post them here, and don't forget to put them inside the code tag.

I had to replace the original motherboard of the S19 XP. Currently, the S19 XP is equipped with a Zynq XC7Z007S control board. It's important to mention that the logs from Braiins OS differ from those on the Antminer OS; for instance, in Braiins OS, I can see that the hashboards are initialized. on the Bitmain OS, the S19 XP runs its fans at full speed continuously, whereas on Braiins OS, the ASIC attempts to initiate a procedure.I am sending you the logs from the Bitmain OS and also those from Brain OS if I manage to copy them.

you bricked the controller.

go to Altairtech and buy a new one

https://altairtech.io/product/epic-umc/

and disable 2 boards to see if 1 runs.

also buy this wire

https://altairtech.io/product/bitmain-antminer-voltage-cable/

you likely purchased a not compatible controller  with the one you got.

see that I shut off 2 boards for the miner

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to isolate the hashboards to see if that changes anything. If nothing changes, I'll buy the controller and cable you recommended.

By the way, I saw a post on Twitter today about an S19K Pro that caught fire after only 11 months of mining. There were no ventilation issues, and the electrical setup was fine. The only change was that : one hashboard had been removed because it wasn’t working. In the photos, I noticed that one screw was missing on the power bar that delivers voltage to the hashboards.
Do you think it’s possible that the issue came from that ? the photo : https://i.postimg.cc/x879VkdV/IMG-4619.jpg

Yeah most likely and there was no spacer to replace the missing board.

Let me screen shot my 2 board builds

I used plywood and wraped it with aluminum tape.

thus the air stays next to the good boards and the wood does not burn

I have lots of these over the years.

you need to show full logs by narrowing down as much as you did we can't be sure it there are other errors.

I still feel you damaged the controller using vanish firmware, but I am not fully sure.

Also what is the exact name for your psu.

Bitmain APW121215A PSU

Bitmain APW121215B PSU

Bitmain APW121215C PSU

Bitmain APW121215D PSU

Bitmain APW121215E PSU

Bitmain APW121215F PSU

You always should be the same letter that came with the unit or a higher letter.

This means if your gear had letter D

that APW121215D  to APW121215F will work and

APW121215A TO APW121215C WILL NOT WORK.

you need to show full logs by narrowing down as much as you did we can't be sure it there are other errors.

I still feel you damaged the controller using vanish firmware, but I am not fully sure.

Also what is the exact name for your psu.

Bitmain APW121215A PSU

Bitmain APW121215B PSU

Bitmain APW121215C PSU

Bitmain APW121215D PSU

Bitmain APW121215E PSU

Bitmain APW121215F PSU

You always should be the same letter that came with the unit or a higher letter.

This means if your gear had letter D

that APW121215D  to APW121215F will work and

APW121215A TO APW121215C WILL NOT WORK.

First of all, I sincerely want to thank you for taking the time to respond to me, and the same goes for the others who replied to my post. Secondly, I'm using an APW121215F power supply on my S19XP (the original one). As for the logs on Braiins OS, I haven't been able to copy them yet, but I'll send everything tomorrow when I'm at my mining location. Thanks again
