Never saw something like that before in my life.

As it was said, there was probably some time passed with the authorities putting a blind eye to it, but then, they decided to get the platform off the hook and close the whole thing down.

Still, a pretty interesting case to investigate and put as an example of how people are sometimes genius enough to get out if their way to go around the system Grin

Gambling is a very high revenue generating business. That's why you will always find such stories from many countries where gambling is illegal. People do all sort of stuffs to hide their operations. However the reality is that the local police or administration always knows about them and they get a cut of the revenue to keep their mouth shut.

Sometimes, the police force needs to raid such settlements to show numbers on books but usually these gamblers get out on bail in a couple of weeks and return to their den.

That's almost everywhere in south east Asian countries.

Before, we see the opposite that other business portraying as something else and hides how they're illegally mining crypto. Like those in the offices and workers have been mining through the company's resources. But this time, hiding in the form of crypto mining because it's legal in South Korea but in the inside, it's an arcade and gambling hidden spot. That's a brilliant idea but maybe they weren't able to pay some under the table and that's why they're busted.

That's a fact, as long as they have money and if the price is right.

If Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are considered as Illegal in your country, it is dangerous to do mining for either bitcoins or altcoins. Legal status can be universal Illegal or only partial illegal in one country. You must check legality status of Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and blokchain industry in your nation, and see whether there are branches, activities that are allowed as legal while other activities like payment, trades are not allowed and considered as Illegal.

Checking basic with following sites, and do more research on your national websites and resources for confirming legality status of Mining branch industry in your homeland.
https://complyadvantage.com/insights/cryptocurrency-regulations-around-world/
https://newhedge.io/terminal/bitcoin/legality-map
Checking this is very important, especially for those of us who are struggling in the crypto world. Because if we don't really read in detail all the rules about crypto in our country, we could get into trouble because of our ignorance. Because in my country, cryptocurrencies and bitcoin are legalized, but only as commodity assets. So people in the country where I live are allowed to invest in crypto and trade it on crypto exchanges.

But one thing that is not allowed in the country where I live regarding the use of this cryptocurrency is making it a means of payment.

Quote
In addition, anyone who does not use rupiah in payment transactions or other financial transactions is subject to a maximum imprisonment of 1 year and a maximum fine of IDR 200 million.
Source: https://www.hukumonline.com/klinik/a/legalitas-bitcoin-menurut-hukum-indonesia-lt5a1e13e9c9fc4/

So with this, I personally must avoid dealing with payment transactions using crypto in my country. Because if the finds out that you are using a currency other than the legal currency for payment, you will definitely be sanctioned. But even so, I am personally very grateful that in my country cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin are allowed to be used as investment assets. Because if you look at other countries that strictly prohibit bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, I feel like if I were in that country, I would definitely be very confused.

So the conclusion is very clear that reading the rules about crypto in the country where we live is indeed an obligation that we should not just avoid. Because it is for our own good too.

The scheme was brilliant... until they got caught. The owners failed to realize that losing players would eventually report them, just like in the drug trade, where today's customer could be tomorrow's police informant chasing a reward.

In today's digital age, if you're doing something illegal and reckless, online operations are 'safer' , at least you're less likely to get caught if you know how to cover your tracks properly.

Yeah, there's always the "chuchu" in there that will take them down. It only takes a man to take down the entire operations as long as the authorities are with him.

Maybe not for them because the locals want to visit the actual shop and arcade because it's more enjoyable and they cannot do such things in their house premises. But I agree that if something goes with these operations, they better put it online and have their customers access it anonymously.

Smart but not smart enough! I haven't heard or seen anything close to this first of its kind to me. Gambling is a very profitable business so perhaps the owner knows how much he makes from it hence took the risk knowing fully well that if caught it's a very huge crime but went ahead to do it.

I'm still surprised I'm not seeing any mining machine in the image so how then do they want to convince instigators it's a bitcoin mining ground? not really smart to me because it looks more like a gaming hall than mining hall.

Is this the picture you are referring to?
Looks like a gaming hub for me, but i have no idea how advance mining rigs nowadays or how the reporters were convince that its related to mining because this set up look so gaming to me.

And by the way, according to the law of the land, the punishment is not less than 5 years, so these operators probably have regretted so much on their decision.

That's some serious jail time for a gambling violation. I doubt the owner was aware of the penalties, his venue looks way too obvious to avoid detection. But as they say, ignorance of the law excuses no one, so he'll have to face the consequences. Honestly, this was a pretty stupid move. I might never see news like this again.. this guy might be in a league of his own when it comes to reckless gambling operations.
