Probably this might be a rhetorical question. But worth knowing this:

1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.

If anyone has been receiving merit and giving merit to good posts and standout, irrespective of the person's rank, he can be given a merit source. But I think people that have this qualities in the past are senior members, heros and legendaries.

Yeah you are right @Charles-Tim and this isn't something that is meant for a specific person or special rank as I know anyone who is that devoted to their locale can apply as one of the merits source. I think your application and that of Upgrade001 should be looking into as I know it's years back and theymos never showed any concerns regarding them. Though he knows how he chooses his application but my wish is for him to at least add additional merits source to us with a good allocation.

Being a Local Merit Source means you are a volunteer for your local board. If your intention is to work selflessly for your people then I respect your application. It is very good to see when a person applies for Merit Source to help people if he is a qualified person. Although I do not know OP well, but his profile makes me feel his contribution in the forum. Although I do not know the future but I hope that if OP ever becomes Merit Source then he will definitely be a good Merit Source and work selflessly for his local board.

I must say that your love for this platform speaks of great volumes, looking at the fact that you are a mother with little kids and also putting up with task and engagement with activities on this platform when we all know how and what it takes to look after kids coupled with one having online engagements to say,  I must commend you for putting up with such task.

Being a merit source means you rendering selfless service to this platform, and I must say that you have already exhibited that aspect of you here, so I wouldn't doubt your capabilities as you are very sincere and open to everyone here, with the fact that you always acknowledge people's efforts on this platform by rewarding them with merit most especially newbies and low rank members who are still growing up. You are a good local board active member, I love your bold and courageous step for applying for a merit source, one of the things I think should be one of the criteria for selecting a merit source is how active you are in the forum and when it comes to being active in the forum and the Nigeria local board you are very active and I believe if you are given a merit source you will distribute merit very well to good posts.
Want we need is members who can become a merit source and distribute merit to good posts and I know you can do that so I support you becoming a merit source.

It seems I have been absent for a while in the meta board. A quick search also revealed Mia's merit application happening almost concurrently and from same local board.
@Sexylizzy2813, you don't have to attack one applicant just because you feel the other is more qualified or the other applied first. There's enough room for everyone.
Besides, theymos knows the criteria for selecting a merit source. Many years ago Charles-Tim applied for a merit source but his application is yet to be granted. So, there's a pile of applications, but OP could be favoured as well.

If I may asked is there a rank limitation to apply for a merits source?
Usually anyone who feels more open (devoted of reading out quality post) can apply for merits source and it's not in the hand of that person to be approved as one rather from the hand of theymos as I know vividly, though I am not also sure that mods can appoint merits source apart from global administrators and head administrator which is theymos to appoint merits source.

So seeing other people as someone who is competitive is a very wrong mindset and mentality because having more merits source is not a crime as I know other board do have more merit source or with a larger allocation to cover up their boards, therefore if more application is being tendered it's a Plus to our local board instead of being so naive and feeling oppressed due to someone else also applied almost the same time the other applied, by the way do they know if the other applicant was  already drafting her application as well before he posted his application?

Your activities in this forum is very genuine and i think with the level of your exposure you will not be sentimental when you have be a sign as a merit source, both in English board and local board we lacks merit, I think if more merit source is  been allocated or awarded to some new applications of merit source it will help to make newbies to grow, when you look around the forum, it's noticeable that newbies doesn't grow the way they were growing before, so posts that deserves merit is empty without merit, op I support your application of merit source, so that they will be a circulation of merit in the forum.

I was just going through some topics on meta when I came across the latest animated race chart on local board posted by Bitmover on Rikafip thread. It is very clear that the Nigeria local board are amongst the top contributors in quality posts in this forum after the Russian local board. With just two merit sources and not enough allocated for them to go round and share in the local board monthly, there is need for more local board sources in the Nigeria local board.

This new application also calls for how importantly we need this sources, with the pending applications and new ones coming up, I hope our request is being granted in the soonest. More local board merit sources will make the work load on the existing ones less and will allow more even distribution merits on quality posts in the local board. I am in support of your application and all others that applied and are pending to be approved. You’re all qualified and I wish all the request will be granted by Theymos.

I don't know about other local boards. But our board needs more merit sources for the development of the board. I agree with you that the last two applications are worthy applications and I agree with you. It would definitely be good for us to get a merit source like you whose contribution to the Naija board is significant and we can feel the Naija people. We have two merit sources and I think both are very worthy people. I will not talk about any one person, but I wish both of them the best for the coming days. I hope to get worthy people as merit sources for the development of our local board.

While if by looking at applications there are several applications but I don't know why there isn't any move to additional merits source to the local board, most times it gets to my nerves seeing people who are more than qualify to be a merits source yet they aren't being honored. I could remembered that of Icopress, Charles-Tim, Upgrade00 and many more yet they are not honored. I pray Theymos finds a place to grant them merits source.
