gotta laugh china are not doing that well at all china do positive PR spin for china in chinese news media.. and US prefer project fear clickbait for america in US media.. so definitely a waste of time using AI to rate countries based on news media if plebs like windfury want a better observation of chinas status i recently found youtube channels like: https://www.youtube.com/@ChinaObserver0which show business owners and actual chinese people self reporting what they are observing via recordings, and where AI narrates it and summarises it into news report/short documentary style videos highlight: manufacturing exudus from china to vietnam, thailand, india many chinese cities becoming ghost towns, even shopping malls are empty of customers due to factory workers leaving town, so noone there in leisure time to buy/consume locally forecast: May 2nd will hit hard for china when tariffs really kick in on goods below $800 (1930 tariff act: section 321(t86) 'de minimis' ends may 2nd ) Section 321 of the 1930 Tariff Act, along with its associated Entry Type 86, allows for the duty-free entry of low-value shipments into the United States, as long as they meet specific criteria. This program, also known as "de minimis," simplifies the customs clearance process for goods valued under a certain threshold. .. in essence what im hinting at is.. windfury needs to get better sources Haha. frankyandbeans is being a grumpy old man again. It's OK ser, I was merely curious about your position on the matter. I'm actually neutral and see the situation as two sides of the same coin. The U.S. and China actually need each other - the U.S. has the purchasing power/the Dollar which everyone wants, and China has the cheaply produced goods that the people in the U.S. need. The tariffs are probably Trump's method to "level the playing field" because from a manufacturing viewpoint, they can't compete against China's manipulation of the Yuan, and their cheap labor. Slave labor is closer than cheap labor. China's biggest issue will be food. They can't win if they do not Import food. So if they have food shortages it will be I interesting to see how the tariff wars finish. Both countries have fucked up leaders. Neither one should be leading there countries. The USA one is a convicted feleon The Chinese one is the only leader since 1945 to stay beyond 8 years and not resign. That alone should tell us all we are about to see a fucking mess unfold. Liking fucking most all of us.

the thing is the "war" going on between china and the US, does not involve physically invading each others countries using guns and bombs
US military is too weak and technologically behind to get into a direct armed conflict with any of the superpowers. This is why they chose cold wars and proxy wars instead. Otherwise if they were to attack China or Iran, the USA will cease to exist in the aftermath. This is exactly why Trump has been a loudmouth more than anything so far and is the exact reason why he has been begging Iranians to accept to talk with him or the Chinese to accept his economic demands

Trump is a fierce businessman in his field. This is the profile American politics needs to return to more sophisticated arrogance. Trump has proven his worth during his first term, after the Democratic administration with Biden failed to continue implementing the open policies that America began after the fall of the Soviet Union.
What we are seeing now is the implementation of American policies within a strategic plan by Trump. Even after Trump's term ends, these policies will continue, but no one knows to what extent, because the new administration may implement them more or less aggressively.

Mao resigned after 8 years ? China is acting alarmingly aggressive in recent years and its wonder if it intends war or just to bully and attack its neighbors in any more subtle way; that'd match a dictator mindset I guess. Seems Mao did resign after 2 terms yes but he had the influence to continue killing millions with his ideas. 'Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution' did not end until his death 17 years after his chairman resignation. I studied China but its infinitely counterintuitive. They can't win if they do not Import food. They will become more efficient and productive, I think modern fertilizer will be a valuable commodity personally but China does suffer a few natural limitations like energy. Programs Ive seen on their food production are impressive but still more is needed I agree. Useful site for a quick display but its quite impossible to judge though easy to say neither side is winning in a war; they will not gain more from lack of trade then simply proceeding with a mutual benefit to both countries from in demand exchange and supply.

Here's a nice website that gives the users the latest economic/political news, a "scoring system" on who's leading the "war", and some short analysis made through A.I. https://tradewars.strykr.ai/But the scoring system in site should NOT be an actual guide on who's actually "winning". It's a mere source of information to keep plebs like us updated of the facts. Plus the topic might also be a good place to discuss the, actually stupid, "Tariff Wars". Oh, yes! We really are plebeians, who are not subject to the thoughts of those in power.) But is it really so? Do you really think that competent people who know everything are at the helm of government in these countries? I don't think so. If that were the case, there would be no tariff wars. Some idiot came up with them and decided to make them a reality, forgetting about what a similar event led to at the beginning of the 20th century. What did the USA have to face? The Great Depression swept over the country. And again on the same road? Well, that's some kind of "entertainment". I don't think that this time it will be any different. The whole world has already seen the consequences of the decisions taken. This is simply a global horror.

because trump wants to have some success stories to have occured within his "first 100 days" thats why he is trying to push for peace with ukraine and russia quickly too Nah, first 100 days success doesn't matter in country whose Citizen are already angry with the policies. I am pretty sure there are quite a number of people who voted for trump and are right now angry and wish they never voted him. other countries dont have the capacity to take on all the stuff... thats why its stockpiling at chinese ports and being charged demurrage charges for being left there, no one else is willing to take that much in that huge amount chinese businesses are also trying to sell fully retail ready and working stuff for scrap price domestically just to get it off the ports. but other countries are refusing as they will be lumbered with the stock pile They do have the capacity. Like I said, there might be impact an the next few months, but it won't be the same after a while. Stop thinking the world rotates around the US only, and this is the same reason China doesn't really care anymore. US wants to bully about anyone, forgetting that the population of the rest of the world is way much bigger. EG where by africa does not have much of a rainy season. whom would want thousands of umbrella's per container EG whereby african heat means people wear open toed sandalls, whom would want high heel stilettos and leather boots EG whereby africa's national grid electric* does not extend to most rural towns and villages, whom wants hundreds of air friers and electrical devices per container [endless examples]
*most of africa's population are unelectrified (about 600m peoples homes dont have national grid access)
most other countries dont want an onslaught of near free stuff as it then hurts their own economics of their own business/manufacturing EG if they take on loads of free solar, their own solar businesses in africa will shut down so they would rather say no to protect their own economy EG if they take on loads more rice. then their own rice farms would suffer
this is what america is trying to do and others are following. not let china push other countries into accepting discounted stuff which would stop countries domestic production
.. decades ago china done this as a strategy.. they sold stuff below cost(businesses subsidised by chinese gov) to get other countries like the US to sell it and switch off US manufacturing and just rely on chinese supply. then china tied the US into trade deals of decades long contracts to only get certain goods from them rather than other countries
china would also offload underpriced stuff into vietnam and thailand to shut down their manufacturing. or even just buy up other countries factories to destroy the competition... .....
I have a simple question, do you ever get to travel around the world?

I have a simple question, do you ever get to travel around the world?
yep quite often. not so fond of japan or china. thailand, vietnam are beautiful countries with sincere people when you escape the tourist traps eastern EU reminds me of the 1980's africa is vastly different depending on which part you go to. im not fond of the city life there, i prefer the small native villages that keep their historic culture other countries dont have the capacity to take on all the stuff... thats why its stockpiling at chinese ports and being charged demurrage charges for being left there, no one else is willing to take that much in that huge amount chinese businesses are also trying to sell fully retail ready and working stuff for scrap price domestically just to get it off the ports. but other countries are refusing as they will be lumbered with the stock pile They do have the capacity. Like I said, there might be impact an the next few months, but it won't be the same after a while. Stop thinking the world rotates around the US only, and this is the same reason China doesn't really care anymore. US wants to bully about anyone, forgetting that the population of the rest of the world is way much bigger. firstly. china's factories making goods destined for other asian, oceanic, pacific regions carry on. but then trying to add onto this the american stuff ends up saturating the other markets the stuff china have factories for that are getting affected by the US trade issues.. other countries are not usually taking those goods things like toys and electronics. which are designed for the US market either by toy character resemblance to popular american tv shows, would be unknown/unwanted gifts in many other countries the electronics are using US power standards which can be different to other countries you would be surprised how many things are just not compatible to other countries desires. other countries may just not want the goods even sold below cost. because they know it would ruin their own suppliers, take some countries where they wear turbans or skullcaps due to religious culture, they wont really want baseball caps. yoga pants are pretty much porn clothing for some modest wearing cultures

It is getting lower and lower every day which is why price of everything in US is on the rise and many of the small manufacturers are talking about their collapse soon as they won't be able to produce anything anymore. Here is a tweet from a bitcoin maxi - 46% of Toy Companies in the US say they expect to go out of business within "weeks" - 128K Federal workers lost their jobs in last 60 days - 40% of cargo ships leaving China for the U.S. were empty today. - Shoes expected to go up 87% in price - Apparel expected to go up 65% - US Exports expected to drop 18% - Tourism to US down 20% - All foreign goods up at least 10% on USD alone
You should be able to find each claim in the US mainstream media like https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2025-04-29/trump-tariffs-disrupt-toy-industry-peppa-pig-seller-cuts-forecast

It will most certainly be "not as bad as we think", because let's face it, the world has seen black plague, world wars, and many other terrible stuff and we still survived, I am still sitting on my PC and living "a" life. Sure it could have been much better but it is still a life and I am happy with it. Could we do worse? I am sure we could, so we should be glad that we are doing this much. Just few hundred years ago, kings didn't live as good as we did, so we should be more than glad that we have what we have. That doesn't mean we should celebrate when something bad happens, of course be careful about it, but still, do not overreact neither, give just the right amount of reaction. Like I do hope that these tariffs are gone, nothing good will come from them, but also I am not crying in my bed every night about them.

This is international trade, and a very large portion of the demand comes the United States. India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and other Asian nations would definitely want to supply that demand.

The "hole" that China left/will leave as/when less and less of their cheap goods enter the United States will actually open opportunities for other Asian manufacturers that the U.S. might be more willing to deal with.
This is international trade, and a very large portion of the demand comes the United States. India, Vietnam, Cambodia, and other Asian nations would definitely want to supply that demand.
"will actually".. the other asian manufacturers have already taken the opportunity as a for instance foxconn already moved its production machines out of its china based factory and put it into a vietnam based factory just last month and before someone interjects with silly numbers. no it wont take 2-3 years and $10b+... foxconn managed it in weeks and quite cheaply(in the SUB $billions range)
as for peppa pig. sales are still occuring, peppa pig is still in retail stores.. but yes the speculation and forecasting of ever changing tariffs means the licence holder cant forecast profits of 3-6 months time. so yes share prices(investor speculation) wobbled. but the pig kept on selling in retail stores and supplies kept being made

Maybe but I see a couple of problems with that. First is the fact that as well know US regime declared an economic war against the rest of the world, not China alone. Which means they are trying to import less from those countries you named as well to decrease their trade deficit. Additionally lets not forget that one of their objectives was to increase domestic production not to continue importing from abroad (be it from China or any other country). If they replace China with another country, it would defeat that goal. Secondly China has already been exploiting that. There are certain products going to US from other Asian countries with the label reading "made in that country" while it is actually Chinese made IIRC Vietnam was actually one of such countries they were using, where stuff saying "Made in Vietnam" are actually made in China! This means their other objective which was to weaken China won't work as they'd hoped.

My friend, let me be honest with you, many websites and even social media channels might find a way to make money through the trade war. But the truth is, there is no winner in a trade war, it's so mutually and bitterly damaging to the countries involved. So, don't let us rejoice for one side. Not with the two economic world powers (US and China), even if they eventually scored 53% against 47% respectively, what difference does the 3% make after much economic implications and damage?

Which probably is the goal and the make the agree to new proposed trade deals. Secondly China has already been exploiting that. That's actually why there was a blanket of tariffs on ALL those nation-states, including the United States' allies? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course it will. In any type of war (this is economic/cold), both sides of the conflict are going to be hurt and become weaker in the aftermath. This is why focusing on objectives and which side reaches it is more important than focusing on the damage. That's actually why there was a blanket of tariffs on ALL those nation-states, including the United States' allies?
Most probably. The "proxy export" method China uses hasn't exactly been a secret

How about this result CHINA LOSES USA WINS INDA WINS. and down the road USA takes Panama canal zone back Along with Greenland Making. Russia USA Canada Norway In full control of the melted Artic sea. Losers China Greenland Denmark. Canada to stay free from USA must give some lane to the 55,000 living in Greenland. China suffers bigly in the case above. Which is why they sent people to the moon as they are going to try to make a freeze ray to freeze the Artic back solid. All of the above sounds wild but if you study the tundra there is a lot of evidence it all happened 10000 years ago.
