I must say that I don't like the questionable concept when wallet apps for mobile devices don't force the user to write down the mnemonic recovery words of a newly created wallet immediately. The effect is that some users won't backup their recovery words ever, especially newbies who don't know the importance of such a backup yet.

In my opinion this causes more harm than the annoyance to have to backup your words properly and immediately and not being able to skip this step.

As far as I read through this thread, Becassine stumbled into the problem that her Phoenix app became stuck and unusable. Not sure IIRC if she had a recovery words backup or not (or couldn't find itseriously?).

Deleting cache and data of Phoenix or deinstalling the app would lead to a permanent loss of her Phoenix wallet when she doesn't have a proper recovery words backup. And if she has active LN channels, those would become toast, too. Phoenix won't restore the wallet and LN channels without the mnemonic recovery words AFAIR.

I have Phoenix wallet on my mobile, too, for a long time, so iterated through some app updates so far. Never had such an issue as described here (Samsung Android user).

My first troubleshooting steps would've been to check if enough free storage is left on the device. A shutdown and restart of the Android OS does sometimes magic. All assuming you don't have a shit ton of questionable apps installed or other weird stuff on your mobile.

I don't have much luck with lightning wallets I think (I also had a small problem with Breez), I've never had a blank screen when trying to open an application. But yes, this little problem (resolved) has reminded me to store my seeds better, even if I'd never put a lot of sats on this kind of wallet.

I've encountered similar issues in other wallet apps when there's a mismatch between the updated UI layer and the local storage/cache data after an app update.

Here’s a quick checklist I’d suggest:

1. Force Stop & Relaunch – Simple but often effective.

2. Clear Cache (Android): Go to Settings > Apps > Phoenix Wallet > Storage > Clear Cache. Don’t clear data unless you have your seed phrase securely backed up.

3. Reinstall – If the white screen persists, uninstall and reinstall the app. Just make sure your recovery phrase is safe beforehand.

4. Check Logs (Advanced) – If you're rooted or using developer tools, you might inspect system logs with adb logcat while launching the app to catch runtime errors or rendering failures. I’ve seen wallet apps hang due to missing permissions or background sync conflicts post-update.

5. Reach Out to Devs – Phoenix has a solid dev team—if it's a bug introduced in the latest version, they’ll usually patch it fast.

I work on smart contract systems and dApps, so I understand how mobile wallet integration can introduce subtle edge cases post-deployment. If you're experimenting with Lightning or just want reliable access, having a secondary wallet (like Breez or Muun) as a backup isn't a bad idea either.

Let me know if you need help walking through any of the steps.

Thanks for the informations. As I said, I finally turned the smartphone off and back on and the app relaunched.
This time I made a note of the backup words. I had previously had a problem with Breez, someone had explained to me that there must have been a liquidity problem, which is why the funds were blocked in the (Breez) wallet.
