It's not the first time that major economies have tried to manipulate minorities. Take, for example, something most people don't even realize the actual size of countries on traditional maps

Here is where you are wrong. It has to do with Enlightened Self-Interest.

Putin is well aware of the fact that a king without subjects is not really a king at all. This means that to succeed, he has to cater to the demands of his 'subjects'. If he doesn't, Russia will become like China is now, or like the old USSR... total failure.

We need more data and evidence from reliable sources before making any claims, don't just rely on unreliable sources and spread misinformation.

Probably not. There doesn't seem to be anywhere on Earth where the population dropped as a result of Covid. I Chinese were so susceptible to Covid, then that would have been obvious from Chinese people in foreign countries dying of Covid. i beleive there are 1.4m people born in china and alive today. however after being born and growing up some use education visa's and work visa's to explore the world
some live in rural villages or too old or young to be a measurable productive member of china's economy

adding up all the international workers, the elderly and too young, and rural families.. the end amount of productive working age people left to hold chinas economy together is much more like 500m

China is a closed country but that does not mean they are isolated and completely cut off from the world. They still integrate and open up to the world in diplomacy, trade cooperation, investment attraction, sightseeing, tourism...or any other activities like any other country.
From leading technology corporations such as Apple, Google...to world organizations such as WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF or UNDP...all have representative offices in Beijing as well as embassies of other countries around the world. So you don't have to covertly slip into their country, you can enter legally and do what is legal in their country.

The Mercator projection has nothing to do with making Russia look better since it also makes Russia look far away from the center.
