Unstable PMS pump price in Nigeria.

It is so unfortunate that all regulatory bodies in Nigeria is already dead.a country that you will see different filling stations selling petroleum products anyhow that it pleases them.
This can only happen in a country called Nigeria where no regulatory body in working..

A country where you will buy fuel one Naira in the morning, coming back in the evening to buy same product,you will hear that the product is now N500...
So bad.

It's high time the Government wake from their slumber and make this work again in Nigeria.

It's sad that when the government doesn't have control to these petrol products. Because whoever sells them have the power to increase/decrease the prices at their will. So, if there is no law that protects the consumer against these corporations, they're free to put tariffs, huge margins and profits to their petrol oil products. But this doesn't only happen in Nigeria. I think in most corrupt countries, this happens.

The government slumbers when they're fed a lot and that's why they don't take action. If the people that have been struggling with this situation, it's time for each and everyone of you to start your own initiative and show the power of combined unity of the citizens.

It hurts me a lot knowing fully well Nigeria is one of the biggest crude oil producer.how can a country like Nigeria with so much crude oil cannot boast of one government refinery to refine the crude for her citizens. With just one refinery owned by an individual who wakes up in the morning and fixes price that suits him. Although the owner of the refinery is a business man and a business man looks for profit. The government needs to stand up to it's responsibility or pump price may rise up #1000 per liter.

It's so pathetic that  a country like Nigeria is still having this issues where fuel price is not regulated. The problem of this issues is the government,  because this regulatory bodies do exist but they are not functional.
The real question is; why are these so called regulatory bodies not functional? The answer is quite simple there are corrupt individuals who are benefiting from fuel price fluctuations.
Oli theft and bunkery is also a prominent factor in the fluctuation of fuel price because some of these fuel stations patronize them rather than the Government and since the purchasing price is different from that of the Government, it also affects  the selling price.

I think there is a segment of NNPC that is responsible for price regulation of PMS and other products that involves crude, I think they are called DPR. However, one of the major issues is the fact that the federal government has removed fuel subsidy and there's a total deregulation of the market allowing independent marketers to sell at almost their will, although the federal government has put a caveat as to the amount petrol should be sold but it's not really effective because the market is deregulated totally.

Exactly. Petrol stations will sell based on the price they bought from marketers or refineries. Since the market is now controlled by the forces of supply and demand the prices cannot be stable. The price was stable before because the government was subsidizing petroleum products. But now, as crude prices fluctuate, the prices of fuel and other products also change.

First and foremost this thread should have been in the Nigeria local board politics and society section. But however I can't deny the fact that this corruption doesn't happen in Nigeria but  this same issues of corruption is  all over the world. politician makes the life of the common people difficult. What more can the masses do when fighting for their rights will end up landing them to problem. Although corruption is all over the planet but I just noticed that this Tirant leadership only happens in Africa. How can the economy be good when bad leadership is Been practiced. It is hard to fight corruption when every sectot of government is currup.

I agree with you this thread should have been started in the Nigerian politics and society board where Nigerians who are facing the internal problem will air their views.

It's a pity that a big country like Nigeria, with a natural resources like crude oil will be importing finished petroleum products from countries that they sell crude oil to. Our local refineries don't work and a lot of money are always allocated to their repairs from one administration to another still nothing works. Different marketers import petrol and they are fixing different prices, it is a big scam but what can the ordinary Nigerians do. Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has built a private refinery, let us hope that he will bring the needed change.
