I know some people who hold crypto and some who trade. Both of these categories can be profitable but it depends on what you are more skilled at. If you study the market well and develop a strategy with the coins then in no time you will be able to create your own strategy to the advantage.

A trader is going to tell you that trading is better than holding while an investor is going to tell you otherwise. I think the best answer depends on your ability to either become a trader or a good investor. Like you said both trading and holding gives you profits but the amount of profit you want to make depends on your ability to either master trading or becoming an investor. Most people choose to become traders because they think trading is very easy and they can make money quickly but they fail to realize that it takes a lot for someone to become a trader and that mistake is the reason why they start losing instead of making profit once they choose trading over holding.

I do not know am I trader or investor. It seems that in volatile times I am more trader and I made more, much more trades. In stable times I am more investor and almost never buy or sell.
At the moment I feel myself more like an investor  Smiley

However, the reality is that very few traders are consistently profitable, while most longterm Bitcoin holders end up making a profit.

So I believe holding is the better and more suitable approach for most people.

Trading can generate higher returns, but that's only true in theory. In fact, most traders experience losses. Even skilled traders cannot be certain that they will always make a profit. But most long term investors can be reasonably confident that they will make a profit if they stay patient.

The two are better but holding is very good and is profitable. The more years you hold your Bitcoin it will give you more opportunity to decide the price you wish to trade out your Bitcoin to achieve a nice income. You can't avoid dagger in the market when you are trading but if you are holding your Bitcoin you can avoid anything that will make you encounter losses.
What you just need in hodling is patience to wait, and understanding of the volatility of the market and that's all but in trading their are more task to be successful in trading. But when it comes to hodling good profit can ba made and in trading profit can also be made, but it is important for one to decide if one is really ready to embrace the task of trading or hodling. They are both profitable but it is important to really know what you want , if you are ready or have the capacity for any of them.
I think the best understanding that hodlers should have about the market's volatility is that it should be completely ignored. Every hodler's should literally be focused on the long term, so anything that has to do with price change or volatility within the short term is best ignored, because they'll only distract you since the effects of these volatility is not even significant or doesn't contribute to your long term goals.
There is nothing wrong if bitcoin holders gets to understand how volatility works . This won't make them less of a holder or affects there investment in a negative way. So it is not a good thing if they decide to ignored market volatility, is same as ignoring that there is risk involved in investing in bitcoin which is wrong. All bitcoin investors both long term and short term investors are supposed to understand how market volatility works because it will definitely be of great help to them.
You are right, there is no problem even if a holder has no idea about market volatility or market analysis. A holder will mainly aim to hold his investment for the long term. He will not buy or sell it, which is why he does not have to monitor the market regularly. However, it may be good for long-term investors to have some idea about the market situation, otherwise when there is a decline, new investors may panic and sell. That is, it is good to have some idea about market volatility so that investors understand that they have to deal with this volatility and hold their investment, only then will they be successful in the long term. Otherwise, if they do not have an idea about volatility, some may be disappointed.

Your point of view is great because we are watching many people who did not get any knowledge, and they are dependent on signals. Signals could be wrong to some extent, and people are facing a huge loss if they are investing a huge amount of money; people who are investing less are getting less and losing less.
If you are inspired by Bitcoin and cryptocurrency then you should stay calm and wait for the market to go down and invest your money which you don't want to see in your future and you are ready to lose your investment because cryptocurrency is not like you will get 200 percent profit or 100 percent profit because it depends on the market and your skills and how you will handle your emotions and if you will not be able to tackling your emotions you will be in loss.
If you are a person who has less money and you are trying to spend your emergency funds, then I suggest that Bitcoin investment is not for you.

We do not know when bitcoin will get to $1 million but we know that bitcoin would have increased if you hold it. Just see long term holding as a hedge against inflation but bitcoin will do justire than that.

As for trading, it is highly risky. You are a newbie, if you do not want to lose youriney, do not trade with it. Trade with the money that you can afford to lose.
That's right, Bitcoin investment seems to be a lot more better than trading but that doesn't mean that it is totally risk free. Trading can be very profitable if you understand how to apply risk management to cut down the risks involved, this puts you in profits in the long run

Basically, every aspect of crypto has their downsides and risks involved especially if you are still a beginner or newbie to the market just like you said. There's a high chance of losing money as a trader than as an investor In the long run.

From the little trading experience I have had, I can say holding is more better and reliable than trading. This is because in holding, there is low risk involved. Most of the major reasons why people who were doing well will go broke after sometimes is because they choose trading over holding. Holding will always requires patience and endurance, but in the long run, it always brings good results, but the impatient ones are the ones who always choose trading over holding. A trader who has known the different strategies involved in trading that can make him more successful will always still tell you that there is nothing better than holding, because in holding you mind is at rest, while trading takes away your little rest and peace of mind as a result of too much expectations.
For these reasons, I will always choose holding over trading and I will always recommend anyone going into trading to choose holding over it as well.

Good luck with trading! Just remember, it’s not for everyone, and honestly, only a few really succeed at it.

If you want a less stressful and simpler path, go for long-term holding. You’ve got no problem anyway, since you believe Bitcoin will hit $1 million someday. So just keep buying consistently using DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging) and learn how to secure your holdings. That’s it, simple and chill strategy.
Not everyone actually chooses the same path when it comes to crypto currency and that's because the market has a variety of options to go with. Trading is not for everyone just like you said, but a lot of people actually prefer to trade than to hold Bitcoin or any other crypto coin and this is because not everyone likes the idea of long term investments.

But the idea of buying Bitcoin using DCA strategy will always remain less stressful compared to always checking the charts and trying to analyze a trade that might still end up being a loss. I don't doubt the potential of Bitcoin but saying that it is going to hit a a million dollars is a bit delusional.

In the long run, Bitcoin Investment seems to be profitable but not everyone has the patience to buy Bitcoin and keep on hodling especially when the market is going through a dip.

August 1, 2026. BTC was 62875.60 USD, 0.001 BTC was 62.88

Balance: 0 BTC, 103.36 USD.

My investment return was 64.39% ((103.36/62.88)-1).

I am fully agree with you in the case of strongly undervalued assets - hodl is best.

Trading is very risky where many have faced huge losses so it is always better to stay away from trading. But long-term investment is also not risk-free because here too you cannot guarantee to make a profit. However, according to past history, those who held for a long time have benefited, so there is a possibility of making a profit if you invest for a long time.

Anyway, I think it is impossible to make a profit of 100-1000× by investing in Bitcoin at the present time. Personally, I will be satisfied if I get a 3× profit by investing in Bitcoin at the present time.
Using DCA, saying go for long-term, secure your holdings is the best advice one can give you i totally agree with that. And as the OP says he believes that Bitcoin will hit 1 million, then don't risk your 0.001 BTC in active trading, it is completely irrational here. And if you think trading is just buying low and selling high. It's not that simple; you will learn with time. And he said true trading is not for everyone. If you want to be in this space, you have to get ready by all means, discipline is key to success in this space, but i will say not only in this space, but in our whole life discipline is required to achieve something.

Then you can get ready to move into crypto trading and start with a method that works best for you. Remember that trading is more risky but holding is less risky. Again, never think about getting rich overnight because it never happens. So focus on trading or holding small and steady gains and always be aware of your risks. Always focus on the charts to suppress them and don't be influenced by FOMO for fear of losing something.
You said correctly
Trading is very "risky", especially for newbies and if you do not want to lose your money, do not trade with it. But then you said just trade with the money you can afford to lose, which you will definitely lose. So, why encourage someone when you know what is going to happen? Reality is in retail trading it is a negative- sum game. Why on earth would you encourage someone to throw money in a grinder or a fire? As far as i know, if you earned something there is no way you can easily lose it, or you wanna lose. When you can buy Bitcoin, withdraw it hold and sell when you wanna take your profit. I don't know when it will hit 1 million $ but i know it will go up, and Bitcoin is profitable in the long term.

You should trade with the money you can afford to lose, but even though there is a high chance of losing money, many people are encouraged to trade in the hope of making a profit in a short time. And because of this expectation, many people risk their hard-earned money. Many people trade even when they are not capable of losing money, and such decisions later lead to their tragic consequences. Long-term investment is an easier and more reasonable strategy than trading. It allows for small investment opportunities. There is a possibility of Bitcoin price increasing, but no one can guarantee what it will be in the future. In this case, it is realistic to follow a long-term plan within your capabilities rather than trying to take advantage of short-term price fluctuations.

Using DCA, saying go for long-term, secure your holdings is the best advice one can give you i totally agree with that.
Of course DCA is a good method, especially for those who do not want to make decisions based on daily price movements. However I would like to say just saying long term does not eliminate the risk. How much money is being invested and how long that money will not be needed are also important. Another thing is that even if Bitcoin performs well in the long term, you have to be mentally prepared to endure a big drawdown in the middle, because it is volatile.

In fact, the long-term path of Bitcoin investment is as easy as we think, but it is not an easy path, rather it is a very difficult matter, and especially when it comes to maintaining stability in the midst of volatility. Even if success is not guaranteed if you hold it for the long term, the possibility is very good, but this retention is the main thing. And you must think about your own safety, from all sides, you must also think about your financial situation. Because you should not invest money that you cannot hold for the long term, that is, if you need money for a specific task, you should not invest it, here you have to ensure long-term retention in any way, under any circumstances.
Start with the DCA strategy to make long-term consistent investments.
Create an emergency fund for emergency financial situations.
Create a mindset about long-term retention by ignoring volatility.
