But when I consider what these enemies do not do to me, it is difficult to understand why I should consider them to be my  enemies.

1. These enemies do not use the Internal Revenue Service, one of the most feared and terrifying agencies in history, to seize a large portion of my income. That's the U.S. government that does that.

5. These enemies do not prosecute, incarcerate, and fine me for traveling to non-approved countries and spending my money there. That's the U.S. government that does that.

6. These enemies do not prosecute, incarcerate, and fine me for ingesting non-approved substances in the privacy of my own home. That's the U.S. government that does that.

7. These enemies do not seize my money while traveling on U.S. highways. That's the U.S. government that does that.

8. These enemies do not force me to stop at highway checkpoints and show my identification papers and submit to warrantless searches. That's the U.S. government that does that.

9. These enemies do not prosecute, incarcerate, and fine me for hiring, housing, or caring for non-approved immigrants. That's the U.S. government that does that.

10. These enemies do not trespass onto my property and conduct warrantless searches for non-approved immigrants. That's the U.S. government that does that.

11. These enemies do not control, regulate, or prohibit my ownership of guns. That's the U.S. government that does that.

The ones that have tried to deprive me of certain advantages or have tried to take advantage of me, I simply devise a means to either avoid them completely or avoid them to a certain extent.

You should know better that humans cannot be pleased. Every region you live in how its own flaws. if the government is not against you, the wealthy and men in power will be; the legislative and judiciary system will also be against you, it will be crazier than even your closest neighbor, and people around your locality can be against you.

I always tell myself, instead of blaming someone for whatever happens to me, why not be the person who can put them in their place. There is a level you will be even the government cannot threaten you or what you do. That is the stage we ought to work ourselves into to avoid all of these things OP mentioned.

Not sure any individual could be above the government of the day except in cases where the government just wants to overlook and let it slide.  Else there's no height and individual will want to attain that he would be above the government of the country he resides in.

It's only the government that enjoys sovereignty which gives them the monopoly of coercion towards any other entity within its territory of authority. This is why economically powerful individuals and corporations would always want to align with the authority in order that they can flourish more by lobbying for favourable policies to their business investments.

Can we really put everyone who is against us in their place? Even the government? I agree with @Lida93's reply. Sometimes, what we need to remain at peace with the government and some people in authority is wisdom. No matter how bad the government may be, we cannot do without them completely. The most we can do is to build ourselves to avoid living at the mercy of anyone who may be superior to us, seek alternative means of doing certain things (i.e., if we don't agree with how some things are done and there is an alternative), or even align with government ideologies to get some privileges. At the end, what everyone is fighting for is their own personal interest, so people should do what is best for them and avoid seeing everyone as an enemy.

For a moment I thought this was going to be a thread about how we all are our own worst enemies and we need to break through our own personal Barriers in order to achieve whatever we want in life, but this ended up a thread about how the United States (or rather, the people of the United States) is supposed to decrease the size of their federal government and federal authorities.

I mean, I understand the mistrust some people have when comes to allowing the Federal government of the USA to intervene in their life, but is it not one of the reasons why the USA has managed to become what it is today?

I have even seen some people who go as far as saying taxation is thief and the IRS should be dismantled, which does not make sense to me, to be honest.

You're right, you just gave him the best answer he required, we are not expected to fully depends on our government, when some don't even know that they are the worse enemy of themselves, because they have failed to realized the real situation on ground and how they can tackle it for their own personal productivity, growth and development, instead they will be depending on the government and keep complaining on every moves taken by them.

Until we learn to be independent, we may continue struggling with the way of life and this cannot help the situation with us, a good opportunity is in bitcoin investment, which many don't know as you have pointed out, than wasting time and hoping that things will keep getting better with government.

I think what you pointed me to connotes a different perspective from what I was trying to buttress above. In every society the government activities are been carried out in adherence to constitutional provisions which is the supreme grand norms. As such no individual can grow above the government else it portrays a society where we have strong individuals with weak institutions instead of stronger institutions.

Nevertheless, it's obvious that by your source of what the law is to the individual our perception about our rights and the law as citizens and how it's exercised and affects us might differ.

In the US, people are above the government, because government has elevated them there. When government seems to be above the people, it's because the people have become ignorant of the law, and proper usage of the courts to maintain their position above government.

Consider the Preamble to the Constitution. "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

This is the whole reason why the US was formed in the first place. Since you and I both know that the US government has failed in this activity in many ways, what other reason is for existence of the US government is there? Perhaps the PEOPLE need to get back to enforcing right government. This is part of what they thought they were doing when they elected Trump with as big of a landslide as they elected him by.

How many times was the Magna Carta re-developed in Britain? I know English, and I have capabilities which are attractive for some employers from the United States... so if I crossed the border of the USA and I was not detained by border patrol, Do I become an American Citizen?
To me does not make sense, at least from what I get about current immigration laws.

also you need to be invited in or accepted to be there. this is where temporary/permanent visa's and such exist. but even an invite via a visa or work permit does not make you a defacto citizen

The differences between a public gym and a PMA gym are subtle.

The PMA gym is required to have all the safety equipment that a public gym has. The things that the PMA gym doesn't have to follow are things that are cosmetic, such as requirements of certain colors for the walls... provide they are not part of a safety feature. However, there may be many more.
