A lot has been said about patience, which I quite agree with. However, we still need to be able to differentiate between when a trader is just wasting his time and when patience is indeed what he needs. I am not fully grounded in trading, but I still understand that there are some self-acclaimed traders who don't know what they are doing. They are obviously losing money but still giving themselves hope that all they need is patience. With these kinds of traders, I see no difference between them and gamblers.
Lol, good point. I totally agree that patience is important in trading, but patience is not the only important thing one needs in trading. Knowledge comes first, of course, after the capital, and then comes patience. You use your knowledge to make good trades, and then stay calm and collected when the market tests your patience because remember, as a trader, you must understand that the market is always going to test your patience, it's not like you make your trade, and you start getting profits immediately. That happens sometimes, but not always.

If someone is impatient, even if the odds are mostly in their favour and the market is going to reverse, they might close the trade at a loss out of fear when they see the market going in the opposite direction, and that's where patience comes in. If you stay patient and don't close it too quickly, it might start reversing, and your loss will slowly turn into profit. By the way, one shouldn't avoid using stop-loss in any case, whether they are patient or not, it's important.

So, at what point should an individual say "trading is not for me". Is he just being impatient? What if he is just being honest with himself which may turn out to be the best decision taken? I just want to see a post or article that addresses this and let's traders know when they have hit their limits. Patience is really good, but it can also be abused. Maybe, just maybe adequate knowledge should be able to address this and put the trader on track.

Patience , does not only imply entering the market alone.  A good capital is also needed to trade the market to be successful, but patience is also needed to transform that your small capital to a big one, by gradually making profits  to a huge sum.

Whether small or big capital, as long as you are patient, have the required knowledge, know your strategy, and make good analysis, you will be able to make a profit. But what you need to understand as someone with small capital is that, in trading, your capital determines your profit.

So, when trading with small capital, don’t be greedy or think you will win big overnight. You just need to take your small profits and be consistent. That consistency will help you grow your capital over time. However, this is very hard for traders with small capital to do, as they often think others are making it big while they are just wasting their time.

In such situations, they start trading without analysis or a proper strategy. They become what I call gambling traders, because they trade like they are gambling. From that, they end up liquidating their accounts and begin saying that trading is a scam and just like gambling, when in reality, everything that happened to them was caused by their own greed.

Of course, patience and strategy are very important in trading. We have heard before that practice makes a man successful. But a few days ago, in a lecture by American writer Shivkhera, I heard that only perfect practice makes a man successful. Actually, we need to know the rules of trading correctly. Only then will we succeed.

Perfect practice or not, it makes us closer to understanding more: just to a different degree. That is what matters most, as well as proper risk management.
Risk management is very important among all factors in trading.

Sometimes, patience and greed are related because you can have the chance and opportunity to take the little profit you have, but you might decide to be patient and wait for some times, and this can lead to loss if proper risk management is not used.

Trading in general is very risky that’s why adequate knowledge is required to start trading. However, for newbies, they can start by investing in Bitcoin precisely so that they can hold Bitcoin while learning trading so that they can start fully after learning in order to avoid losses.

Good point, and same with your example most of those who lose their money are those who did not take the opportunity to stop when they have that chance to earn, but instead they did aim to win more and regret after, there are situation that patience might be use especially if you trust your knowledge and understanding.

Like what you said, proper knowledge and established your skills and understanding might allow you to prevent losing your investment.

,The reason why majority traders lose money is because they buy in morning and want to price to go up in next few hours, if that didn't happen they sell their tokens in loss.

Having patience when trading doesn't mean you won't sell but keep on holding and waiting for the project to turn from being a loss to profits sometimes you won't get that happy ending that you're looking for. You aren't an investor that's supposed to hodl until the fate of the market changes. Trading is for short term and not long term hence while you still need to have patience with everything you do, know when to stop wasting your time waiting for something that won't change. Some projects has fallen because of some negatives news and haven't recovered since they started to decline in price. Be a smart trader and know when you're supposed to be holding or when you're meant to b smart about your decision and sell.

I think you don’t understand my point, that is why you are saying all of this. I am not comparing gambling and trading, because I know they are two different things, and I understand how both work.

All I am saying is that those traders who are not patient enough to create a proper strategy and do thorough analysis end up becoming what I call “gambling traders.” They just keep trading like they are gambling,  without any analysis, and hope to cash out big by the end of the day.

I don’t mean that trading is gambling, so please understand my point in a positive manner.

Trading and gambling are different but there is time it is the same like you said, it is when a trader does arbitrarily and emotional trade, it's more likely gambling. Without any consideration, any indicator use, any stop loss order and no idea of when to cut loss or close the position to exit the market and defend initial trading capital. If a trader does trading this way, it's gambling.

Trading is dangerous and it's not profitable for the majority of traders. It's not recommended to trade but if you do it, use one of the best weapons in trading.

Just like patient is very essential key in gambling same goes with cryptocurrency trading, no trader can make any profits without having to apply some level of patience when the market is going against them, making the necessary back up plans before diving into opening the trade has a lot to do with what become the outcome of the trading result, those with no patients always end in loses with less profits possibility because of the inpatient and taking wrong actions in most cases.

We need patients to achieve our goals without it you will always end up in losing. Trading is very risky and If you are not patient enough you will never understand the strategy many people are using in trading to get profit. Why you need patients in trading because definitely you need to lose because every traders usually lose since the market is unpredictable, and by losing you will be getting more experience on it, to know how to correct your mistakes and do the needful. But if you are not patient on it you will always endup on regretting and started thinking trading is not for you. But if you are patient and calm and study more and get more knowledge on trading he will definitely help you out to achieve your goal because trading is just a short term is not like bitcoin investment that take long process before getting huge profits. Trading always favour the good traders so focus on only trading and try to be motivating your self one day you will get what you are chasing, just put in mind without patient nothing can be achieved.

Well you are right Floxynice, when you are having patient you don't have to abuse it there should be a limit to it and you move on to another thing, however if you are trading and you are always losing more than you are gaining and you have been into trading for long time and still nothing is changing I believe there's something you are doing that you are not doing right, trading is not a thing of luck so why having patient try to know and learn from others.

In trading why being patient try to expand your knowledge about trading don't just be patient and continue doing the same thing that has been causing you failure you need to change things, the reason why some people are patient in trading and still they continue to fail after so many years of being patient is because they remained on the same pattern they never changed pattern, however if you have changed pattern so many times and expanded your knowledge and still nothing changes then you have a very big problem that may be spiritual, but I will advise that at this point you need to stop and try out another thing.

Yup, as there are traders who thinks that they are doing it same deal with gambling, taking a big risk hoping that the train will be at their side, though some of them have that basis knowing that the chance of moving according to the directions that they pick will be triggered and they will be able to quit out before the direction will be change.

Though most of the time, making mistakes and treating things like gambling will lead you to lose big, that's where patience will be use, hoping and holding while waiting for your target position to let go.

I started trading in 2020. I won't talk much about my mistakes because I've said them many times but since here is the focus about importance of patience in trading, I can tell a little funny fact. When I was taking sedatives, I had the best trading sessions. In my newbie days I was trading 10 times a day but on sedatives I was trading 2 times a day and I was choosing the best moments. 1-2 years later I already learnt a lot from my mistakes and today I am very patience without any sedatives. I buy and sell a few times a year, sometimes I might not even buy or sell, everything depends on my confidence and market's situation. I have never been so happier and profitable before.

I have read that one of the reasons some traders don't make it is because they are always changing strategies. Someone once said that there are no bad strategies; all strategies are good, but all they need is consistency. For me, it is good to be consistent and patient with your trades. However, if, while being patient, the trader begins to get too emotionally attached to their trade, which tends to disrupt their sense of reasoning, personality, and general well-being, the trader can see it as a sign to take a break from trading. I believe in protecting your general health at all costs, even at the expense of the money you intend to make. If you are going to be patient, be patient reasonably.

,The reason why majority traders lose money is because they buy in morning and want to price to go up in next few hours, if that didn't happen they sell their tokens in loss.

In the end, trading not only requires patience but we also have to be smart in analyzing or researching the coins we want to trade and of course finding the right moment to take a position. Because if you only rely on patience, there are coins that after going down never go up again so relying on patience will be in vain in this case as you said.

In trading, not only patience is needed to make a profit, indeed patience is important in trading, but in trading also requires strong knowledge especially in terms of market analysis, good risk management, and our ability to make the right decisions. So to be a good trader, we must be able to combine all of that. Unless you invest in bitcoin for the long term, all we need is patience to make a profit.

You should first understand what level you are at. If you are a beginner, the strategy should be to try to understand the market and continue buying small amounts rather than waiting for the bearish ones. You should refrain from getting involved in large-scale trading activities since you are in the initial stage and still have a lot of experience with the market. Capital is required for trading, but patience is more necessary when you are a beginner.

Patience is the key to the process of building large capital gradually. To maintain the trend of merit, you need to analyze the crypto market as well as save small amounts.

Patience helps you to increase the amount of wealth. Small capital allows you to grow. Just as you will not get a proper idea of its mood before entering the market, you will not be able to understand its true condition before investing because experience can be an important element in increasing holdings and courage in facing trading challenges.

I think one of the most important aspects in trading is for you to know yourself, your capabilities and your constraints. Being able to identify your true capabilities in trading will go a long way in determining when you should set limites to yourself. Though thy said, patience is a virtue in life and in trading but it can also become.a trap once you don't know how to set limites for yourself. I think its not a weakness if you understand that trading is not for u especially when you always break the rules u set for your self. I could also mean u are not just ready to be an active trader yet hence u should take a breath. It may not necessarily mean you're impatient but it could also be your nature which is something you probably needs to nurture or train yourself against.

Trading is a highly risky and highly emotional activity which requires psychological discipline, learning and understanding. Trading also requires you to be patient with time. It is also good to know trading is not for everyone and a good trader knows when to enter a trade and when to quit as knowing exactly when to quit is a wisdom on its own. Having an adequate knowledge is a first step to identifying when you should stop or take a break.

It's a trap bro. Thinking there's 'just one more trade left' is what makes many traders to lose their capital and potential profits to trade. In this regard, it can be referred to as greed because many traders have mistaken greed for patience.

Instead of securing the profits they already have, some traders keep aiming for bigger wins and end up holding losing trades for too long and hope to recover in 'just one more trade'. Gaining a proper knowledge and understanding in trading gives a trader the leverage to detect when you are making a decision based on emotions or based on the strategy to win.

Your experience is a great example that the best of traders are not really those who trade all the time but those who trade with discipline and based on their calculations. Over trading is one factor which can lead to poor decision making and over exposure to failures.

I do advice plenty new traders to always take things easy because many have mistaken over trading for productivity which is not always the case. For an individual to be more productive, requires a trader to be more intentional about their trading decisions which should generally take more time. I've come to realize that trading aggressively or.brutally can never become the determinating factor to a successful trading career.

,The reason why majority traders lose money is because they buy in morning and want to price to go up in next few hours, if that didn't happen they sell their tokens in loss.

In the end, trading not only requires patience but we also have to be smart in analyzing or researching the coins we want to trade and of course finding the right moment to take a position. Because if you only rely on patience, there are coins that after going down never go up again so relying on patience will be in vain in this case as you said.

I have a friend that lost over 500$ at a go to a futures trade in the name that he wanted to take advantage of a falling coin. He took a position when the coin was in deep and gradually retracing. He said he was very confident nothing will stop the coin from rising to his targeted profit margin hence going into the trade without any calculated risk management. He did not apply Stop Loss to the futures trading with the trust that it won't fall deeply any longer. In the end, he was disappointed as he lost all his capital worth over 500 dollars to the trade in a situation where the capital was all he had at a time. He's used this incident as a lesson whenever we discuss trading with just patience or emotion vs trading with knowledge and understanding. Some act of patience can end up being an act of greed and failure if not backed by knowledge and understanding.

Quote
In trading, not only patience is needed to make a profit, indeed patience is important in trading, but in trading also requires strong knowledge especially in terms of market analysis, good risk management, and our ability to make the right decisions. So to be a good trader, we must be able to combine all of that. Unless you invest in bitcoin for the long term, all we need is patience to make a profit.

The number one driver of good trading is knowledge and experience. In fact, this is what leads.to patience in trading and when to quit a trade. When it comes to long term investors like those who invest in a coin for a very long time because of the potentials it carry can actually rely more on being patient than traders. As for traders, patience actually means taking your time to learn the right trade to enter at the right time and exercising the discipline of quiting a trade when it's the best time to leave. However, the combination of.both patience and knowledge which includes market analysis, good risk management and the ability to make the right decisions like you mentioned is the basis of an individual's success when trading.

Your story is similar to many of us that have undergone this process with so many experience to explain to the newbies. When a trader is not patient enough, he would not be able to learn what they have to understand about the market because the zeal of making fast profit from the market will be on their mind.

Cryptocurrency market is not just a place to learn for few weeks and then start making profits from the marketplace. Some people have seen trading like a ponzi scheme where they can be making certain about of money consistently without any loses in the market. When a trader is not patient, then greed will follow and the possibility of losing more money will be there.

Strategy hopping is common and thats normal because we would be trying out to find on what kind of strategy that would works for us on which of course we cant be able to find ourselves that being fixated at the time that we do make out some trades because our main priority will be speaking about being profitable on which of course that this isnt something that we can be able to make ourselves that being profitable in the end of the day. When it comes to importance of patience then it would be having that vital role on which if you dont have that right control when it comes into your patience or whatever emotion qualities that you do have then you would definitely be ending up on having that kind of prone into tons of mistakes on which this would be that involving that impulsiveness on which it affects out in overall actions on which that would be that including out of your plan. Trading will be that triggering out on which not only on psychological aspect but also in emotional approach as well on which it would be that necessary for you to make out some adjustments once you do able to encounter it out.

Patience does pertains about on how you would that trying to handle such situations specially when you are that trying out to execute those actions on which it will be that necessary for you to made out those potential results or outcomes. Trading does involved on dealing up with this volatile space on which not all traders would be that good when it comes to emotional aspect on which due to this one then it will be that possibly that they will be that getting derailed on what are those plans that they had set out earlier. Human beings are naturally greedy and naturally emotinal on which at the time that you would be having that kind of emotion or reaction then it will be something that would be resulting into that kind of actions on which is out of your plans and not something recommended that you would be tolerating out such approach. Always been bets that you should be sticking into your plan and never ever trying out to hop and changed up those things that you have set it out earlier.

Patience is indeed crucial in the world of trading, but it's not the only factor that leads to losses. Lack of patience is another factor that can lead to losses, such as knowledge and market analysis.

Trading requires a combination of several factors to achieve desired profits, such as knowledge, technical and fundamental analysis, risk management (such as financial management), mental and psychological management, and patience. Simply put, there are five factors on the list, and lacking any one of them can be devastating.

I have read that one of the reasons some traders don't make it is because they are always changing strategies. I really had a stressful time comprehending your reply, as it is not well punctuated for easy understanding. Well, I am going to respond to the bolded texts.

For everything that has an advantage, there is also a disadvantage, depending on how each situation is handled. Like I said before, I am not a professional trader and am only saying this based on my own level of understanding. It is very okay for newbies who are just starting to trade to hop from one strategy to another with the aim of trying to test different strategies and how well they suit different situations. I can call that phase a learning phase for them. So, by the time they gain all the experience they need, they can switch between strategies reasonably to adapt to the market condition at that time.

This idea of mine does not apply to some clueless traders with a get-rich-quick mindset. They will abuse all the strategies they have until they are in debt. I will consider strategy hopping normal only if it is done reasonably by a professional.
