E get the time wey him wan donate some coins for charity but him dey with only half of the seed while the other half dey for him family home for another city or country. Him call someone to send the oda half and naso him take move the coins.

If he trusts some group with half, there is the potential that they could get the other half somehow.

I'll much rather have the full seed phrase in 2 different location in case of a natural disaster. You can split them up and hide in different places, but you should be able to access your funds from any of the locations.

I prefer 12 words seed phrase. They both have 128 bits of security.

Some might decide to split the 24 words into half, but that's actually a bad choice. you literally can loss access to your funds if you end up mixing up these words or misplace any one of them.

Neither advisable nor recommended at all. I will prefer to user passphrase to extend the seed phrase instead. The passphrase will be difficult to brute force because it will be at least 10 to 35 characters long. And not backup the seed phrase and passphrase together.

Another is the use of Shamir secret sharing. But I do not like this method. You can see it on some wallets like desktop Electrum and hardware wallet like Trezor.

Whether you choose to use 24 words seed phrases or 12 words seed phrases, the most important thing is to keep them safe from a third party because i do not think anyone can be able to guess 12 words seed phrases talk more of 24 words seed phrases except maybe you probably expose some words of your seed phrases because some people can decide to omit 2 words from their seed phrases while writing it down and make it visible to others but with the nature of technology and how complex security systems are being hacked this days, some technical hackers can still find a way to guess the 2 words you omitted and can possibly guess it rightly, so it is better to keep our seed phrases in a very secured place and another thing again is not to use only one wallet to store your coins.

A very good thread I must say, you have explained something many of us don’t know about our seed phrases, but the must important thing is that all of them are secure if you properly handle your seed phrases because we all know that Not your keys, but your coin therefore, it is very important we keep our seed phrases safe always.

However, I think many of us including me find the 12 words seed phrase easy to save and easy to input in wallets that is why I mostly prefer the 12 words and for the fact that I have read about the y and found it safe.
Nevertheless, I don’t like open-source wallets that mostly gives private key because they can be easily compromised.
