As regards storing, most people finds it a bit difficult storing the 24 seed word properly, which is more reason they just go with that of the 12 words. Some might decide to split the 24 words into half, but that's actually a bad choice. you literally can loss access to your funds if you end up mixing up these words or misplace any one of them.
A very good thread I must say, you have explained something many of us don’t know about our seed phrases, but the must important thing is that all of them are secure if you properly handle your seed phrases because we all know that
Not your keys, but your coin therefore, it is very important we keep our seed phrases safe always.
However, I think many of us including me find the 12 words seed phrase easy to save and easy to input in wallets that is why I mostly prefer the 12 words and for the fact that I have read about the y and found it safe.
Nevertheless, I don’t like open-source wallets that mostly gives private key because they can be easily compromised.
