Deleted post from a selfmod-topic

I think it's pointless to engage in such topics.

It is a self-moderated thread. The topic writer can delete people's post on the thread. Either you do not post there if you want or youcan create your own topic if there is any need.

Each time you open a self-moderated thread, you will see the warning on top of that thread. If you don't want to be moderated by the OP of the thread, the best you can do is not engage in any conversation there because it gets deleted if the OP considers it to be off-topic according to their opinion.

And if you see the need to continue the discussion, you have the right to create your own thread; your reply was deleted for the discussion to continue.

Yes, the creator of a self-moderated topic has the right to delete your posts if he finds it off-topic to the thread, Self-moderated means the OP has the power to decide which post stays on the thread. this is used to regulate perceived spamming of the thread. If you wish not to be regulated, then do not post on the thread.

I can give you guarantee that your post will not be deleted. In-fact none of the users post will be deleted as long as it is not going off-topic like gender and religion discussion.

Yes, OP can delete any post for any reason or no reason at all. That's why you shouldn't engage discussions in self moderated threads if you don't trust OP.

Staying on topic doesn't guarantee that the post will not be deleted. The OP can act however they want. Therefore, if you are afraid that your post will be deleted, you shouldn't use self moderated threads, except in rare cases.

For some reason or no reason at all, it can still be deleted. That note at the top of the self-moderated topic should have given you a heads-up before you posted there

This is a self-moderated topic. If you do not want to be moderated by the person who started this topic, create a new topic.

I personally don't post in controversial self-moderated topics unless if;
1. The starter of the topic is level-headed and won't go on a post deletion rampage because his ego got bruised.
2. It involves me and I have to add my input.

I made the engagement thinking it'll be interesting, but oh well it is what it is, idk why somoene's ego get brusied just by a comment from something they themselves recommended.

If it involves you and is a reputation issue, I think that's even more reason to not reply to a self mod thread and instead start your own where you're sure your input will stay up. This still goes back to your first point, if you're not sure the poster is level headed, then start a new thread.

If this continues in new threads then will there be an end to this, or will it be an undying loop of new thread creation?, for mine I don't want to engage myself in this drama any further so i wouldn't proceed further than this thread.

Minor selfmod enhancement.
Self-moderated threads have own personal rules set by topic authors and you have to obey their rules, otherwise your posts will be deleted by topic authors.

You can ignore those threads and no one invite or force you to post in self-moderated threads.

Yes, OP can delete any post for any reason or no reason at all. That's why you shouldn't engage discussions in self moderated threads if you don't trust OP.

But that's very bad. Self moderated topics makes op act authoritarian that what comment may be very meaningful may still get deleted by the OP in as much as it doesn't seat well with him/her. Engaging in such thread I see it as a waste of time as I can't really express my thoughts freely without getting to worry about what the discretion of the op about it would be. Especially for a sentimental op.

[/quote]Best, don't even try to engage, because most times it isn't about staying on topic or not. In some cases an op might feel that a certain user isn't just at the level of involving in this discussion and that would be a good reason for him to get your post deleted.

This type of self-moderated discussion makes sense when the goal is to maintain order in the linear thread of the topic and prevent it from drifting. I usually apply it to technical discussions, as it helps avoid comments that lack theoretical foundations, are overly vague, don’t get to the point, or are outright disrespectful. It’s not that I don’t want to be contradicted, but rather that if someone is going to challenge my point, they should at least put effort into explaining their reasoning. And if a comment is well-founded, structured, and stays on topic, there should be no reason to remove it, because that would no longer be moderation but censorship. That way, both I and everyone reading will have a broader perspective on the matter.

Of course, each person has their own moderation criteria, so we might continue being moderated “unjustly” or “justly,” depending on the perspective of those who judge.

I only recommended that for reputation topics that concern you. If you suspect you are being accused of something by a troll in a self mod thread, it's usually better to create a new thread to reply. But if it's just a regular self mode thread and you do not want to be moderated by the op, you can simply ignore the thread, no need to start a new new in that case.
