Beware of telegram scammers, yet another scam attempt

I do recommend to everyone to post all of the scams that you have encountered in this forum. Not only do you warn others of your experience but it also serves as a reminder that there are various ways of scams across all social media platforms. As a general rule, do NOT entertain any messages from stranger or unknown persons who suddenly added you. 9 out of 10 times, they are scammers that will take advantage of anything that can be stolen!

Being well aware of such scam methods certainly helps. Anyone who never heard of this trick might actually fall victim to this scam Luckily, I was knew, thanks to the forum.

I've been receiving lots of scam messages and the easiest way to start ignoring them is when they propose deals that are to good to ne true, but then I started having doubts before they even proposed the deal just when they started sending  bunch or copy and paste texts. I can't post all the chart but this is where it gets obvious that I've been charting with a scammer all along.


Well the entire scam is all about some random folks trying to give you a part time job where you could work at your own free hours. They started charting me from WhatsApp, I don't know how they managed to get my contract but they did and there they proposed just the positive part of the job with guarantee that there'll be no deposit, so I played along because this was definitely not the first time I'm experience things like this. After direction me to their financial team on telegram who also happens to be the receptionist they payed for two consecutive tasks so as to make it a bit realistic. But after the 3rd task, the forth task would require me to make a deposit of 12000 naira to get an addiction 6000.  Logically this is contradiction of their terms which is also a big red flag. They went as far as providing a previous payed transaction receipt which is also a scam so as to convince me, but I was already aware of the scam even before they start making their first impression.

The only way you can prevent scams is if you know about them. There are lots of posts and groups that discuss scams you can help yourself by DYOR. Google can give you a list of scams and increase your knowledge if only you can create out time to bit that search button.

I may say that telegram is where scam is effective than any other place, so if someone you don't know send you messages on telegram and start talking of investment you have to ignore the user that messages you on telegram knowing that it's all about scam, myself I ignore every messages that I don't know were it came from, is not even messages of telegram only, other social media that messages you because of investment, please try to ignore it, most of them are scammers

I do receive different random messages on telegram, and all of them is just about investment, and all those Ponzi scheme, so any message I see on telegram, I don’t really disturb myself opening it, because I don’t always expect message from anyone on telegram, so I believe the message is just from scammer. I do recommend everyone to be careful with people they chat with online, whenever am chatting with anyone online, am always cautious, and I do treat them like scammer, because nobody can be completely trusted online. Some people treat you right from the beginning just to earn your trust, and after trusting them, they will end up scamming you.

Another thing I can say is that, the site the scammer suggested had an option to connect your wallet. It could be that all of these are just big excuses to get you to connect your wallet to their site. And the moment it gets connected they plan to drain your wallet. Of course this is only a theory.

I know this doesn’t change the fact that this is a scam, but I just want to clarify that the option you are referring to is not for connecting your wallet but it’s for connecting your Telegram account. You login into the website by linking your telegram account.
Another thing I found when reading their FAQ is that selling your telegram username doesn’t involve handing over your credentials to the buyer, you’re just selling it as an NFT.

This is making meeven  more curious to figure out what the catch is here, tbh!
I guess the scam will happen at the payment phase where you will likely be asked to make a deposit to be able to withdraw the payment.

Since when have I talked to a stranger last on Telegram? That place is like a haven of criminals around the world brought together for safe keeping, it's their den, both old and begginer scammers.

It's very easy to evade this kind of scams but my dear people want to make money too, the moment they hear some good offer they will want to listen, I don't ask for permissions l, I just click the block on you, because I believe that there is nothing a stranger online will offer you than try to make a victim out of you.

Stop giving access to strangers on Telegram, easy as ABC, block them off.

The title says it all. Today I was approached by an unknown person on telegram who claims to be a reseller of telegram usernames. He offered me a total sum of 8K USDT for my username. Being aware of this method of scamming I decided to troll this guy a bit, pretending to know nothing. Note that my username isn't of anything significant, I just used some words and set it.

Upon doing a reverse search on the scammers account, I was able to acquire these information. The fact that he is using a TG premium and an old account makes him more realistic. These guys are trying hard to make themselves look genuine.

This type of scam is now common on Telegram. I myself have faced it, a few days ago, two such scammers messaged me. One of them said my Telegram username rate was $2500 and the other said $3000. Out of that, I agreed to $3000. Then that scammer told me that the Fragment fee is 5 percent or has to be paid in advance which is $150. For this, he created a link which looked exactly like the official Fragment link but whenever I copied and pasted it in a browser, that link turned into another link which looked exactly like a scam site. So I blocked him right away. Because the website that was shown there was not the Fragment website. If I had connected my tone key on the website and given them $150, I would not have received a single go back, they would never have given me the $3000 they promised.  This way I was saved from a big scam. If ever you get a offer from Telegram or WhatsApp or any other social media that is too good to be true then, it is definitely a scam. How can a normal username worth that much, If they really want to buy it they can still offer a price for my username from official Fragment site but they didn't. Just piece of cake for knowledgeable individual and for sure it cannot hit people with knowledge badly since for sure they know that those offer they see is just a scam. But the main target of these scammers are the noobs since they know that they are vulnerable and easy to be fooled especially if the say something about they can get profits or earn easy richest.

Do you think he will ever reply yo you, he will never because his aims is to scam you and not you getting any penny from him, Telegram is a safe heaven for most scammers and what I do most times now is never to reply to any pm that coming unauthorized, since there are mostly scams.

Stop mate stop expecting any reply from the scammer, move on and be more watchful and careful.

I'm a curious person and whenever I hear about a new scam technique (like this one) I get really curious and do whatever it takes to understand how it works. Of course, this can be dangerous but I always take some precautions likd using a sperable device and make sure to never disclose any personal information...
I took a look at the website, contacted their support and even opened a deal there. Unfortunately, this led to nothing as you need to wait for the buyer to accept the deal and I'm pretty sure it’s there where the scam will happen.

To confirm, I even sent the scammer another message saying, I wanna choose another escrow provider (from BTT, of course). He has been dead silent from then. No response.

It might be wrong to you, and might be okay for some people, so situations like this are a personal decision, and anybody who feels like selling has a reason for doing so. The only thing to be worried about is that the buyer should not use it for illegal activities that might likely implicate you, the previous owner, because if it happens that you are already known as the owner of such name or account and you have been very much active and you decide to put it up for sale and and another person purchased it with ill intentions, it is likely that you might be the one to suffer the brunt because you are the initial owner but I do not know if telegram do send a prompt of change of ownership to contacts already associated with that name or account for their awareness so that in the future if anything happens, nobody would bother the previous owner of the account or username.

Scammers never seize to making up innovative ideas on how to dupe people off their funds and that is why we need to keep updating ourselves by sharing experiences to one another. The worse thing that can happen to you is strongly believing the scammer is a friend of yours or someone with good intentions, it'll be very easy  for them to manipulate you. However we become very prone to scam when we begin giving out our personal information to some of platforms that aren't real or through our social media platforms. In essence I'm saying, we can limit the chances of scamers giving us a descriptive information about us to build some level of trust in our minds when we stop leaking out so much of our personal information online on any public platform. I also believe in the possibility of trusted platforms selling our personal information out even after stating no third parties. So we should  be more careful with our dealings online.

I don't see anything wrong with that tbh. There are some cases where the buying and selling of usernames becomes a must! For example when you are running a business and the name of the brand is already in use by another user. Say you have a fried chicken brand name "DFC chicken", but someone already took that username? What would you do in that case? Wouldn't you try to buy off that username for your social media handles?

Just a week plus now, a scammer with a female profile pic pmed me on Telegram, and we have been talking, and of course, I know where the scammer was heading, so I decided to play along for the time being.  At first, I asked the scammer some questions, which she avoided, which further cleared my doubt about her intentions, so I kept playing along till today, she asked me if I am an investor, and I became more curious to find out what she was up to and I replied with a positive response and she was quick to share a link to a phishing site which my system quickly detected and I told her she was a scammer and she quickly deleted the chat while I blocked her instantly.

This could be a new but old trick they are using now to come in disguise as a lady with a modest picture that could convince their victim to think they are responsible and calm to deal with, but their ulterior motive is to trick you into a relationship kind of conversation, and see how you flow so they can present you a link which you will click to either hack you or deceive you in making payments for their investment plans which is fake and a scam to say. We just ought to be more careful and alert to their tricks and gimmicks so we do not fall for them, as they are everywhere looking for whom they can take advantage of.

Firstly, scammers would stop at nothing  even after several failed attempts,  they'd still keep on trying and trying until they finally see that one naive victim that'll fall into their trap. 
You're also right that the only way to easily detect these scams is if you know or have an idea about it, although not all scams are the same, but the common thing among these scams is that they're often too good to be true, they're often offering people free money and other similar ways too to identify them. The best thing is to always do your research so as to always stay ahead of these people, my thats the best way to avoid being victimised.

Most scammers disguise themselves using photos of Asian women or stolen stock images from the internet that appear more professional and convincing.. By purchasing Telegram's premium subscription, they can DM and target people they find in a cryptocurrency-related Telegram group, pretending to be more experienced in the field. They can even send fake proof of their profits, and in the end, the victim finds himself facing a phishing link or a fraudulent link to a phony trading platform.

Therefore, fraud on Telegram does not stop at what the OP mentioned. Many fraudulent bots are now spreading widely in Telegram groups, through which anyone can lose their money. Therefore, no one should trust strangers they do not know on Telegram or start any conversation with them; it's best to simply block and report them as spam.

I don't know Gemspace although I think it's not the first time I hear that name. Anyway, I would have done the same as you: distrust if something sounds too good to be true, and especially in Telegram.

I'm also receiving scam attempt messages in the App more frequently lately. But I distrust everyone by system, especially if he pretends to be a beautiful Asiatic woman or to have a rich uncle who invested in no matter what successful project.

Telegram is flocked with tons of scammers and even if you havent been able to share up your information but still there's someone who do make out some private message or dm's offering or saying something.

Just like been said that if it turns or sounds too good to be true then its 100% scam. Who would be wanting to buy 8k for usernames? With just that alone or making use of your own common
sense then we do know on where this one would be going.

If you do have some spare time then you can get along with these scammers and trying to ride with the waves and ending up on wasting up his time.
