Unable to Blcok a username from private message

So, I added someone to my blocklist with direct Copy Pasta service, then wanted (security) so there's no mistake in the line, therefore using *Find Members and manually insterting the username ***To my surprise the username I pasted in 'Find Members and then clicking it ---- This result gave me a completely different username from what the username is mentioned to what I clicked on... why would this be the reason? --- Yes I tried to save the list post having both usernames on the list, but again for some reason the post username ***altered on*** got removed

For example -  I copied 'Username Hey' and pasted it in ignire filed and saved (it got saved), then copy pasted this username 'Username Hey' to ~Find Members field and clicked it, then the username that appeared in Ignore field was different than 'Username Hey', for easy words you can say it was 'Username not_Hey' - And the 'Username not_Hey' post adding to the field got removed from the field after I saved that list.

So do I need to rest assured the person 'Username Hey' will not be able to message? or I should keep in my mind the possibility of 'Username not_Hey' to be able to message me ?

So you blocklisted the user (Ivystar5) and search for the username again it showed that you have blocklisted me but then you searched on find member only to see that Ivystar5 when clicked on is showing (xOrpian) ?

I can't really figure out what exactly went wrong but I guess if it was a link you clicked on and not the username then you would be and omission in one of the letters.

I just tested the Find Members option and it is working fine, I cannot tell why you will be experiencing an issue with it, except that you could be doing something wrong.

Try using this - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist to find out if both usernames exist or also just try copying and pasting the username without trying any other thing and changing your profile.

If it is on your list, they should not be able to message you.

You have successfully blocked the user from sending you message, even if you see a different username in "ignore" feild.
Some users in the forum have different username and display name. You entered the display name of the user and after you clicked on the display name, the forum added the username in ignore feild.

I think you should be able to add the display name of the user, if you type it manually.

If I copy paste 'xOrpian' directly in field and save it, then yes it's saved. But when I copy paste the same username 'xOrpian' in Find Member search field and click username 'xOrpian' there and I click xOrpian then a username is added to the ignore users field (THIS USERNAME is not xOrpian but something else) - And yes this username doesn't finalize post saving the ignore/block list.

I am using my username as an example, and yes this doessn't happen with mine (Just tried putting 'xOrpian' in search finding field and it added mine 'precisely mine!!!')

The system removes all duplicate names. I you pasted a name into the field and then did same in the find member option, both usernames will be entered on the list, but when you click to save, only one of the duplicate username will be displayed.

A fix for you will be to use the ignore option without the find member list since you know who you want to ignore.

I did block, and ignored the user, I asked them a question before doing this in privately but I didn't get the response, I didn't hoped so tbh based on what the person said, and did.

I think the post above mine is his, anyone can try putting his username in 'Find user' field and see if a different username is shown.

Op your statement is kind of complicating but let me just say that if you're unable to find the "Hey" which is an existing username in the forum in the search space or find member, it could be as a cause that you blocked the username like "blacklisted" the "Hey". And by so doing, you'll not have any networking linkage with the username anymore not until the blockage is lifted.
So it's neither can you or the username have any form of interaction with you.

I don't know what's complicated here... All you have to do is insert 'Free Market Capitalist' in Find user field and check if a username 'Poker Player' is shown, do you want me to babysit you for this basic step to?

This is confusing, though, so I changed it to insert the display name now. Forum-wide, the display name is always supposed to be the name displayed, though the username can be used as an alias in some places.

After this one - I guess I need to test it, but somehow this kind of issue never occurred to me when adding users to the ignore list. As far as I can remember - none of the users on my ignore list have messaged me since they were on the list, but for some reason maybe OP can be concerned.
