Some people still remember good old days of Bitcoin faucet websites when people got a bunch of BTC for free.

First Bitcoin faucet was created in 2010 by Gavin Andresen as a way of promoting Bitcoin and around 19,700 Bitcoin was distributed.

Charlie Shrem just released a new website for Bitcoin faucet 21million.com that looks very similar like original website.

Design is clean and minimal but there are no free coins available yet.

For my first Bitcoin coding project, I decided to do something that sounds really dumb:  I created a web site that gives away Bitcoins.   It is at: https://freebitcoins.appspot.com/

Five ฿ per customer, first come first served, I've stocked it with ฿1,100 to start.  I'll add more once I'm sure it is working properly.

Why?  Because I want the Bitcoin project to succeed, and I think it is more likely to be a success if people can get a handful of coins to try it out.  It can be frustrating to wait until your node generates some coins (and that will get more frustrating in the future), and buying Bitcoins is still a little bit clunky.

Oh, this captcha. I remember how many times ten years ago I tried to collect something on these faucets. But my patience is not trained so much to sit for hours and guess and earn myself glaucoma. In addition, the new reCAPTCHA today sometimes brings big problems. There is news about hackers tricking users into installing viruses on their computers. Therefore, I would be careful, since it is obvious that if something new appears, then hackers immediately appear who are interested in the contents of other people's wallets.

Any particular reason why you're promoting this faucet. It's been so long I came across a faucet that's profitable and that's down to the fact that the price is much higher now. Those faucets were not that profitable at the time they were shared.

I tested it too, It's not just from your end, the faucet is not yet functional and displays 0 Bitcoin, which means no Bitcoin yet has been added to be claimed. I think if Bitcoin is added, it will become functional.

It is clearly stated by the OP that free coins are not available for now. These Bitcoin faucets might not worth so much, but one can get it since it's free. It could be used to teach people about Bitcoin transactions or for testing wallets.

I've also experienced it. The captcha is also not fillable. Is it possible that this is still not 100% fixed for operation. I think it's also a problem on my side when opening this 21million.com site. At first I hesitated to open because I was afraid.

Such links are truly not to mess up with, but as it was given from a old member - I didn't find it scary, although there is always a chance of something happening, so a person can just google for the website in question himself to avoid trouble.

I'm grateful that I was one of the players of faucets back then. There were also games that paid in Bitcoin, though it wasn’t anything big since the value was still very cheap back then. I still remember easily earning 0.001 BTC from faucets, but now that's already a good amount of money. Time really flies. Even though I wasn't able to hold a lot of Bitcoin, I'm happy I got to experience the faucet moments. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Lucky for all the friends here who ever got faucets at the time of launch and still have them. I started getting to know Bitcoin in 2015, and it was quite difficult for me to get into faucets. From a glance, this seems like a web aimed at introducing Bitcoin to users, a pretty good first step. Meanwhile, 21million.com might be trying to duplicate this; educationally, it might be good because there’s an explanation about Bitcoin. Regarding faucets, I read that some Bitcoin communities will provide donations for that site. But with the expensive price conditions, if the faucet program runs, then what is gained will be very small.

That "captcha" actually is a PNG image. It acts as placeholder until the owner decide to implement actual faucet (along with captcha) functionality.

Back then, probably only a few people truly understood the fundamentals, since it takes a lot of time to really digest everything… I wonder if there are still people who are holding those bitcoins they got from faucets back in the day. Back when Bitcoin was fully anonymous, no KYC, and most casinos are non kyc too.,

I was one of the few who experienced and enjoy the faucets. That was actually the first way I tried to earn some Bitcoin, and later I moved to bounty programs. I’ll never forget that time, even though some people say it was just a waste of time. But look at how much Bitcoin is worth now!

If only I could see the future, I would have held onto my faucet earnings instead of gambling them away.
