My dear Hodler, if you have been hodling for a long time, even when the future of bitcoin is not certain, this is your period of reward. I know that very old hodlers are in great profits already.
If you started hodling from the 2022 bear market, you are already in good profits. You can decide to exit the market, but I am scared you might regret in the future as it has always been.
If you have been hodling when only whales directs the market and determine the bull run, think about what is in the future now that we have; 1. The whales 2. ETF 3. Trump and US 4. Aggressive Michael Saylor 5. More companies and institutions. 6. More countries It will definitely be massive. Sell only if you have a problem to solve or a project to execute. Don't sell in order to have funds to rebuy when the market is down. It might never come, the 4 year cycle might be altered. Time for panick selling is gone in BTC.

No matter how long you decide to hold, you can't take all the profit that Bitcoin will give; you take what you can. If you are to continue with the mentality of we don't know what the future holds for Bitcoin, some people stack up and will never have to move from their wallet.
It's okay to hold for long, but we should always know when to take profit. We don't only receive a salary because we have problems to solve; there are always bills to pay and lives to elevate, and one should not feel sorry because they sell too early.

No one should depend on their bitcoin long term investment for bills payments. But if you say lives to elevate, I will understand with you. The theme of my message is to avoid panic selling. We shouldn't sell because the price is $100k, we shouldn't sell because others are selling. If you have a thought out plan to exit the market, there's no crime doing so, provided you know what you are doing. Also, my advice is for those that sell and wait to rebuy, it might be long to see a rebuy opportunity again if the market triggers the momentum it's holding.

I've been in the Bitcoin scene since 2014, but I only recently started accumulating and holding Bitcoin. It's approximately four years since I started, so I'm here before the bear market in 2022 the OP mentioned. However, I don't understand where exactly you're heading. You're mentioning incidents and people who might alter Bitcoin's course.
I personally don't need the money, thus, I'm not planning to sell anytime soon, however, 2025 is supposed to be a bull period, which means that whatever happens should be until the end of the year. Certainly, as you've also mentioned, the 4 year cycles aren't necessarily a rule, but where exactly are you aiming at?

True hodlers are usually unfazed by the market - if you check some hodlers wallet you’ll see that they still have some coins for more than 5 years that they haven’t touched and that’s because the price of bitcoin hasn’t gotten to their target yet and they would keep hodling till it gets to their target and FUDs really don’t matter to them because they know the potential of what it’s in their wallet. And also, for the one you mentioned it’s usually those short or intermediate hodlers that sometimes take profit to settle their needs, a true hodlers or someone who is really serious about hodling their coins don’t even do anything or use money that they’d be needing anytime so - means to settle basic needs have already been sorted out and sometimes they don’t even think of their hodlings as a part of their money anymore until their target has been met.

If someone is in profit and they want to sell, they're free to do that. No one can stop them from doing so.
Do not sell all that you hold and I think most of the holders are in this situation. They're thinking of selling a part of their holdings and they have also a plan to accumulate them back.
It's okay to do if that's what is on their heads. Everyone has waited on this patiently but the longer the better on this market and thus, there's no exit if you understand and sees where this is heading.

Or shall I say, if you will exit then you are not a HODLER. All the reasons you listed are good enough to keep holding, because there’s a better tomorrow waiting for us. It’s okay to cash out a little (just to reward yourself), but selling everything? That goes against the whole point of being a holder. This is supposed to be a long-term game. Only sell when it’s life-changing, like when cashing out means you can retire and fully enjoy your money.

If i haven't learnt much over the few years I have invested the little I have in Bitcoin, one thing I have learnt is that it is more profitable to keep on holding. Inflation increase massively every year, the best option to go against inflation is if you keep the value of what you own in an asset that is highly profitable in long term. We should take some profit when we have something bigger to do with it. Anything other than that can be spent from our monthly income. To avoid regrets is to keep holding, while we rely on other means for survival.

Hodlers are hodlers, they will never change their minds. Since 2022, the price has been folded 5-6 times from around $16k, which is the lowest price of Bitcoin.
True HODLers believe that Bitcoin’s value will continue to rise over time. They prefer to hold rather than realize short-term gains, anticipating much larger profits in the future. For them, selling may feel counterproductive to preserving wealth, like Microstrategy, they will never sell their Bitcoin, even during a downtrend.
We can't stop short-term HODLers from selling their Bitcoin, especially if they have reached their targeted price gains.

At some points I won't agree with OP. Definitely we have to hold Bitcoin, but with a goal. Lately everything is positive about Bitcoin, but unless you have a goal, you can't make more money. We know Bitcoin will even reach $1M, but we don't know when it will happen. Till then, will we live or not? We don't know. That's why we should have a goal where we need to liquidate our holdings.
We have to hold for life, but not for a lifetime. We are earning to lead a better life, so Bitcoin could help us. Let's say you sold your Bitcoin ATH then it dropped to below $80K. So you may accumulate more Bitcoin with your sold funds. That's why we have to set a goal for selling points. It's not a risk, but it's necessary.

What I personally deduce from OP’s post is that investors shouldn’t sell just to buy back later and I think I agree with him on that. My reason is if you hold bitcoin and it gets into profit and you intend to take profit to use for some needs or wants then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that because every investment is for Profit taking and it is never a bad idea to actually take profit and use for other important things, the bad thing though is the when you try to take profit during maybe a bull run period not for anything but just to buy back when the Market is down and maybe during the bearish period. Just like what OP said after the post halving bull run there is a market fall that follows after that but it is not guarantee that such trend will be the case every time, trends can change even if they are historical and the price at which you sold to buy back might be the lowest price you might see bitcoin again and that is now a loss you buy higher

I think you're eight, I mean the price just keeps going up and up every year and it's going to break the half million barrier and then the million then it'll go into the tens. Let's go! I want to retire but I'd literally need BTC to go to max value lmao

Some bitcoin hodlers really tend to become greedy during bull season. I remember last bull cycle, people we're telling that bitcoin could reach $100k but the ATH only that time was $60k if I'm not mistaken. After that, bitcoin made a 50% correction when bear cycle entered. No one knows the peak of every bull cycle so it's important to set a goal on what price you will sell your bitcoin. We know that it is a good long term investment but market will not always go up as we think. Selling a percentage of our holdings could also be our capital to buy again when market correction happens. In that way, we are also able to accumulate more rather than holding a fixed amount for 5-10+ years. If we just hold bitcoin believing it could reach this price, we could end up not getting any benefit from it while we are alive and just leave it behind to our next generation.

Let’s simply put, if governments of natures have turned into hodlers,
Why shouldn’t you?
You shouldn’t be the one to stop you from holding, something more than you, maybe your inability to get funds with which you can buy Bitcoin with and hold for a long time could be the obstacle but, it shouldn’t be one that you can’t cross. All huddles must be jumped!

I think that people who do panic selling are people who do not understand the fundamentals of Bitcoin, and they are among those who have little knowledge about it. For now, even though Bitcoin has increased quite high in value, I still think that this is just the beginning, as you said, there are still other factors that will be ready to shake the Bitcoin market so that people who do not believe will regret it. What to do now is to compound, find more income so that you can invest in Bitcoin, and the one very good way is to do DCA.

Life of hodlers is not easy especially newbie hodlers who don't have enough knowledge, experience and capital management in this market. Firstly, newbies often join the market in bull run and if they use all capital for investment, don't have reserved money for use in bear market, and unfortunately their income resource gets broken, they will struggle to hold their bitcoin and perhaps in bear market, they will have to sell their bitcoin for loss as they entered the market in bull run. Don't sell in order to have funds to rebuy when the market is down. It might never come, the 4 year cycle might be altered. Time for panick selling is gone in BTC.
If you are experienced, you can do this because bear market lasts long enough like 2 years for you to rebuy bitcoin. The challenge is you can not know what is ATH of a bull run and perhaps you likely sell at prices in mid of a bull run and when you buy back, you can buy at nearly same price of your exit before. You can apply DCA or Smart DCA, it depends and you can try with both strategies but if you are fearful about doing smart DCA wrongly, you can simply apply DCA (classic DCA). DCA vs Smart DCA, what do you choose?

As long as bitcoin still the top performing investment, selling it doesn't sound right.
People are diversifying to bitcoin more than ever. It will become scarce and price can potentially go up even higher than recent ATH.
Selling it for fiat or gold doesn't really sit right with me considering fiat is inflationary and gold is starting to dump.

The future of Bitcoin still uncertainty. No one will know what will Bitcoin in the future. But we did a good work by hodling Bitcoin until now and make a big profit if we already sold Bitcoin. But we don't need to sell all of our Bitcoin because we still have a long time journey to follow Bitcoin. We need to hodl Bitcoin for a very long time and still accumulate Bitcoin especially if we want to increase our Bitcoin amount. We don't have panic in any situation because the price will be increase so high. If we can hodl Bitcoin tight for a very long time and keep buying Bitcoin, we may make a big profit in the future.

It is a good advice, but remember that we can't take all the profits Bitcoin will ever give in the market. In this crypto community, we have two sets of people in general, which includes those who has a real life business that is handling life issues for them, these sets of people can take a long term hold for as long as possible, because they don't rely on every profits generated from Bitcoin, while on the other hand, there are people who have the crypto world as their single and only source of income, whereby every money they spend is from either Bitcoin or other crypto currencies. These sets of people will always have a need to take out profit when the demands arrives to take care of life challenges and stuff.

It will definitely be massive. Sell only if you have a problem to solve or a project to execute. Don't sell in order to have funds to rebuy when the market is down. It might never come, the 4 year cycle might be altered. Time for panick selling is gone in BTC. Dude, who are you to tell the HODLers when to sell and when not to sell? They can decide on their own. I can't agree that there would never be any panic selling on the Bitcoin market ever again. New retail investors are entering the cryptocurrency markets every day. Most of them are lacking experience and they would totally panic, if something negative happens and FUD starts dominating the markets. Also the big whales and institutional investors might start selling big amounts of BTC at some point, not because they are panicking, but because they want to sell high and buy low, taking advantage of the retail investors panic selling.
