According to the list of physical crypto attacks created by Jameson Lopp on GitHub, from January to May, there are about 22 documented incidents this year, and I'm pretty sure there are other cases that occurred but were never reported. These cases of physical attacks are warning to people who indulge in flaunting their wealth online to learn and desist from it. If not, they may get to share similar fate like other victims.

Unfortunately, a lot of terrible things are happening nowadays. This is so disturbing that it makes me angry. It also makes me angry that people were filming instead of helping. The man was protecting his daughter from three masked individuals i believe adrenaline kicked in and this is for respect. I also hope that the perpetrators have been found and that they are facing many years in prison.

It seems like France has become a common and easy place for people with crypto status to be attacked. Why all of a sudden are all these attacks happening? Are they just knowing the families of crypto firm CEOs, or is a group of criminals just ganging up together to target these particular individuals? If this type of news about families of alleged crypto holders continues, crypto lovers will start to consider France an unsafe place.

It is serious to see that Jameson Lopp made list showing that real-life attacks are happening to people who own crypto. 22 attacks from January to May means seriously that is a huge number by the way. And there can be many more that no one knows about. You are right these attacks should make people who show off their money online think twice. If they do not stop they could end up like people who were attacked. But OP post is showing a concerning point. There are many crypto exchanges CEO's and they are on twitter and on other social media websites so how they can hide their identities? They are openly talking on social media how they can hide their identity? This crime must be stopped as soon as possible.

It's a good idea, OP, to create a single thread about these cases. Robbers will do anything to take advantage of the opportunity to rob anyone they think has a good stash of crypto. However, if robberies are increasing, people who realize their lives may be in danger need to pay more attention to their safety. In this case, having multiple bodyguards would probably scare off the robbers. Sometimes you have to be generous with your security, knowing how much money you have and that it is of interest to bad people.

I saw this on TikTok with different camera angles. The guy protecting the child was bloodied from the attack, kudos to him. Also, it was mentioned that this is the 4 kidnapping case that involves cryptocurrency in France.
Now that there are more and more people bent on crime who ask for crypto ransom, maybe it was a heroic act that protected the child... but I just realized this news now.

It's a sad news.

This is why it is extremely important not to give information about your wealth online, because it can be your protection from things like this.
That's right... it's important for all of us not to share all information about our crypto asset holdings, after all it will be a target for bad people we don't know yet, it could be someone close to us, so avoid showing off crypto to keep unexpected security like this news.

The problem is what if people think you have a ton of crypto?

Like, you're just an influencer talking about your investments to get views, but in real life, you’re just a regular person with no bodyguards or fancy security.
Then boom… someone takes it seriously, and you end up getting kidnapped.

The scary part is you don’t even have the kind of money they think you do.  So what would you do?

But isn't it the fault of the person himself? Vanity always turns out badly. Why shout at every corner that you have crypto if you understand that you don't have it or it's negligible? People tend to imagine more than they have. In search of fame, many go to theatrical stages, which are only an illusion. One thing is clear: if you are a popular person and are forced to talk about crypto, try to additionally protect yourself and your family. If you are an ordinary person, don't blab; this is the best security.

I also agree that it should all be cumulated in one thread. This issue of kidnapping crypto big boys is becoming a saddening trend and it's looking as if since nothing is being done about it, it will continue till someone loses their lives(I hope it doesn't come to that.)
I don't know if this is another way of fighting crypto currencies because I don't understand why something has not been done about the is matter since if I'm not mistaken, this should be about the third or fourth case of cryptocurrencies and kidnap in relationships to France. I mean, what are the authorities doing to ensure that the lives of these individuals are safe?
For me I don't think it's just a matter of the victims not being able to keep quiet about their crypto holdings but more of a reason that as none of these perpetrators have been made an example of, it has somehow emboldened the others and they can make their research and know who is who in the crypto world and continue their evil deeds.

This is another one: https://cointelegraph.com/news/crypto-exchange-ceo-daughter-fights-kidnappers-paris

This also happened in France

An exchange, known as Paymium in France, its CEO Pierre Noizat's daughter and her son were attacked in broad daylight by three masked men. They tried to force Noizat’s daughter and her son into a waiting van. The accompanying male partner was assaulted when he tried to intervene but Noizat’s daughter resisted and managed to take one of the guns off the attackers.

Eventually, people passing by intervened, and the masked assailants fled in the van, which was found nearby. All three victims suffered injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

We have many of this news now, I think I am going to make a thread that all the threads can be reported. Hope it is good?

Damn, that looks like a movie Shocked

Do you know if the CEO had a shady past or so? or the attack was supposed to be due to some interest in extorting him because of the wealth made thanks to his exchange? If that's the case, as you said, there are too many lately...

I don't know how many millions he may have, but I don't envy him at all. Having to live always vigilant has to be exhausting.

Let's just say "that was a bad day for those kidnappers". As always said that "everyday for the thieves but one day for the owner.
We've heard about related stories that in majority attempts, those thefts, scammers and kidnappers are making their illegal indulgences successful but this one with the exchange CEO's daughter failed them and I'm very glad to hear that and wished they were being captured and brings to judgement.
Definitely some underground informations may have been extracted from the convicted ones where other accomplice should had flee or get arrested too.
But in the same verdict, it's always good to stay highily anonymous as much as we can to prevent being on target.
And if you're publicly known to be a Crypto investor or it infrastructural development as the exchange, you and your entire family members is approximately exposed to be on thefts and scammers target.

You're right, lately people believe that once you're into Cryptocurrency or identify as a Bitcoin investor then you must be very rich and some of them who couldn't buy bitcoin when it was more cheaper and are not aware that they can still own it with this current price but buy randomly using the DCA would want to steal from you so the best approach to that is being an anonymous investor or Cryptopreneur.

What happened to the CEO daughter can happen to anyone, I don't blame her cause her fathers identity sold her off to those criminals, so it's good we stay anonymous to avoid being the victim, funny enough the people who claimed Bitcoin was thrash are now the ones trying to steal it from others, so be careful and avoid being their victim.

Anyone can be a victim of this including domestic staff of crypto holders.Stay as anonymous as possible. Even if your father is a public personality who is well known in the crypto world, you can take ways to keep your identity hidden online. Watch your friends they can sell you out for a few dollars if you become complacent and nonchalant about your identity online and offline.

This might be a collaborative attack, or yeah, someone has mentioned it as an insider's attack. These people should keep themselves private, but how did these people know where they were exactly? They seem prepared and have the masks ready before the attack. Cons are no longer scared of the public and they've done this in front of many bystanders.

Stay as anonymous as possible.
This is what we have to do. Remain anonymous as we are, and if someone who you think won't do good to you and keeps on asking questions related to crypto should twist their answers to protect yourselves.

What the fuck is going on in Paris lately?

Sounds like France is a country to avoid if you start a crypto business.

Terrible things are happening, and this isn't the first time something like this has occurred we all remember the terrorist attack in 2015. It seems that walking around Paris is not safe at all, unfortunately. This attempted kidnapping, which luckily failed, is a clear example of how unsafe it is.

I wonder why it has become that way all of a sudden... (not really, I already know the answer but this is B&H, not P&S board so I will keep it to myself Roll Eyes)

But it is strange. This appears to be an anomaly in only certain European countries; France and a few others, I won't name names. I rarely hear about this sort of thing happening in the USA. Probably because they use Glocks instead of can openers but still, nowhere near a cruel as what is going on in Europe.

Cases of attacks on crypto holders and there family is becoming too frequent and it should be a serious cause of concern to all investors because anyone can be the victim. If you're poor, you're going to face your own share if problem and when you're rich and well to do, you're not even immuned from this rage of a problem that has eaten deep into our society.

Sometimes I pity family members of some well to do individuals because they most times suffer from this kind of attack because the main person that owns the asset might have enough security systems around him which will help him stay protected from those sort of attacks. As a person that knows your parents are influential figures based on the kind of asset they own that the public have knowledge of, it's best to take your safety seriously knowing fully well that a lot of eyes are all looking at you with negative intention.

We have many of this news now, I think I am going to make a thread that all the threads can be reported. Hope it is good?
It's not necessarily because it will not allow one have a full grasp of the details of each of the individual cases. It's a discussion forum so as matters like this unfolds, it's best a fresh thread is open for each of the topic and as usual, once the matter is deliberated upon, it will naturally go off sight

I heard someone say that crime is increasing in France because of the influx of immigrants in the country. But I had to disagree because there are other countries that have accepted more immigrants. The problem might be the failure of state actors to fight crime. I don't think the perpetrators of this crime have been arrested. The government of France has to put necessary measures to fight crime because these incidents might scare investors from the country. It is also a wake up call for crypto owners to maintain privacy.

Many of us have heard about this incident and these incidents are recurring frequently these days. If the government does not take appropriate measures, this situation may go out of control. The perpetrators should be identified as soon as possible and if they are punished by applying appropriate laws, then the number of such incidents can be reduced to a large extent. Today, an incident happened with the daughter of the CEO of a crypto exchange, tomorrow it will happen with another person. And if such a trend starts, then there may be a disaster in public life, especially the possibility of crypto users becoming concerned about their safety. For ordinary investors, this kind of news should definitely send a message to them to be more cautious.
