Guess it is because cryptos are much popular now than compared to recent past but there are still people that can fake it. Some criminals are only wise to know it.

This is why we need to be somehow care on where we should talk about crypto. I think creating a thread to tackle and educate people on this is a very good idea.

Yeah, I agree. As much as possible, we need to hide anything when it comes to cryptos even if it is a small talk because criminal-minded people can get an idea about it and investigate further. This isn't only limited to strangers but even to the people that we know, as there are lots of cases already where they can also do harm than good.

In what way should the government identify these individuals unless they have committed the crime. The fact here is that government will always play their role in protecting the life of it's citizens. But what are the citizens doing to protect their own life's.

Cryptocurrency is one of the most explored technology now around the globe so everyone including the criminals are trying their best to get their hands on it. if we play a role of keeping our crypto holdings private then we may not be seen as targets for such criminal acts.

An Italian citizen who was the victim of a kidnapping in New York City was locked up, stunned, had his legs cut off and threatened to kill his family, fortunately he was able to escape when the kidnapper was caught off guard.

According to the article, the two of them had agreed to meet to conduct Bitcoin and Crypto transactions but somehow it became a bad incident and the perpetrator was an old bitcoiner who had also been a miner in the past, but he was tempted by the victim's asset ownership so he committed indecent acts.

The perpetrator wants to get the bitcoin password owned by the victim, according to other sources the victim has $ 30M in bitcoin.

These days people prioritise content creation more than assisting people. They will prefer to do videos that can be monetized than to help someone in need.  The guy deserves an award for that heroic action. Sometimes people are scared to help for fear of being harmed if the criminal is armed with dangerous weapons.

This has shown that nobody can be trusted. The criminal is a well known crypto Promoter that has been in the crypto space for a long time. There are claims that he owns a helicopter and a private jet which means he is relatively rich. Never meet anyone in a private place for crypto transactions.  Any transactions should be done in open or public places to avoid this kind of situation.

I remember a similar incident of car theft at a fueling station sometimes ago, when the Robbers make attempts to rub the car owner, the guy spilled the ⛽ fuel pump on him and his face was covered up he never escaped that rubbery.


So that dude really did a bravery move with the car fire extinguisher there protecting the lady who was already frighten with the whole situation at that moment.

It is not easy being a crypto public figure. The families of these public figures are not left out too. In one of my replies to a post that talks about the physical safety of Bitcoin influencers (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5542253.msg65421210#msg65421210), my reply there was still that crypto influencers should remain anonymous and try to separate their online presence from their physical presence. If Satoshi was able to successfully keep himself and his entire family anonymous, I believe any other person can do it too.

Yes, don't trust people too much even if they have been in the crypto field for a long time as a well-known promoter - but when they know we have assets, they may be complacent to have bad thoughts where it will threaten our assets, especially lives can be at stake.
It is better to transact online instead of meeting, but it is not clear what the meeting in the expensive apartment was because he believed he was a rich man so he would not do that.

It seems this whole issue of kidnapping is far worse than I think.
I understand that the numbers of threads that I have read lately on attempted Kidnapping, keeps increasing, but this stat proves that there is more to this kidnapping. It seems the media don't even emphasize much on that area, or maybe those type of news don't reach us often.

I'm not sure if this is what the government can fight, because this is clearly a case of insecurity, and a trending target towards certain business owners. Cex Ceo's and public crypto enthusiast in general, needs to start taking actions now before it gets out of hand, while other individuals try as much to keep their crypto related life style private.
