I think i will advise anyone to prioritize investment and savings, rather than laying emphasis on how to improve their standard of living. Of course, there are times where we have to spend, and enjoy certain quality things that we've worked for, but that shouldn't be a priority. Investment as we know takes a while to yield something great, and in most cases, the longer the investment plan, the bigger the rewards attach, which shouldn't be squandered all in the name of improving standard of living. But at the same time, we shouldn't deprive ourselves from what we feel that we truly deserve and have worked for.

There are many people who save and invest and become successful and live a luxurious life, while there are many who live a very bad life due to their own wrong decisions. However, every person should save 50% of his income. If a person saves 50% of his income, he will be able to use that savings in the future during his leisure time. People save because they do not want to spend their old age in hardship.

Of course I would advise people to save and invest and I still advise people to save and invest as much as possible. I live in a village and almost all the people in my village are not very educated. They work in the fields and in the fields. Due to lack of good education, they have no experience about what to do in the future. So I give good advice to everyone so that the people around me can live well in their old age.

Having a separate savings from your investment is also a good choice as you prevent your investment from being compromised immediately when sudden expense occur.

Just because someone thinks that being able to overeat and becoming fat increases their standard of living, it does not. It decreases it. To greatly improve your standard of living simply by investing you need a lot of time, very profitable investments, or a combination of both. It also depends on your savings/investment rate. If you are able to save/invest 50% of your income you will not only get richer in the future relatively quickly by investing more capital, but by having a low cost way of life, the improvements will be very noticeable.

Unless you have a good saving strategy where you are using the savings for investments in a timely manner, saving is also part of the scam that you mention. The longer you save, and the longer you hold on to your money, the worse off you are. Those that save the longest, are cheated the most. That is the current system that we have. The standard of living can be called the level of spending. That is, the more a person can afford to consume, the higher his standard of living. If a person invests and saves, this doesn't affect his standard of living at the current moment. But in the long term, when these investments bring good dividends (remember the early BTC-investors), his standard of living can increase. For example, buying a better house, a better car,  a better wife .

Earning and investing - this is a continuous process.

I spent a fair chunk under the age of thirty struggling to with finances, but this was mainly related to having casual work which changed a few times. It was a good life experience to try lots of things in different fields but they were all minimum wage type things and under full time hours, which can make it hard to put aside anything into savings. There is the natural recklessness when you're younger, live (and spend) for today type thing which you might only snap out of later in life, if ever. When you start to earn higher amounts and slow down your spending, along with starting to budget, then you realize that it's actually confidence building when you know there is money in reserve and you would have at least a short term backup fund if you lost your job. It can reduce your stress which will make you a bit healthier.

Inflation and standard of living is an external factor that's affected based on the economic conditions of the country at a time, it is something that you literally have no control over as an individual, however, you can always work harder or smarter to beat the inflation in your own ways, which includes finding ways and strategies towards building your portfolio through savings and investments. Although it is equally noteworthy to say that savings or investments only occur when you have satisfying income you bank on. This is when you're able to save more and invest more.
