I run a business, so I’m always checking my average daily sales and looking for ways to improve. But lately, the gambler in me kicked in, and I realized... if I’m gambling consistently, maybe I should also be tracking my Average Daily Loss. Makes sense, right? I'm spending time and money on it, might as well treat it like a mini side hustle just with way more luck involved.

Do not have this mindset. Consider all money or coins you send to your account on the gambling platform you are using gone because the chance that you will lose it is high.

I prefer just to do the budget. 1% of weekly income instead which makes me easily know how much I should spend. I am presently spending less than 1% of my weekly income on gambling but that is the recommended percentage if you earn and able to save.

Of course they know the daily losses in gambling, I think not only me, almost onaverage they know the losses they experience.
However, the problem for me is, I never count or record it in one of the notebooks, the loss of course knows.

I understand that in the world of gambling it is not every day to win, whatever type of game is played, it is common for gamblers to feel, it could be today to win, tomorrow to win, the day after tomorrow to lose, it is already a law of nature in gambling, conclusion: for me personally it can be said that my average gambling for now is balanced despite losses and wins, for now I have not gained an advantage in betting, such as what I said above, today is losing tomorrow and so on, that's my daily gambling situation right now.

I don’t track this but I can still get this if I want because casino usually have complete records of deposits and withdrawals that I can use to determine my ADL.

It’s painful to track this number since I consider this losses as expenses for my own entertainment. Unlike business, gambling is a fun and entertainment activity so money lose here is not expected to give a return back.

It’s not wrong to track this but it’s not necessary for me.

Based on my estimate, I probably lose around $10 a day on average. I’m not really profitable overall. Sure, I win sometimes, but when you look at the bigger picture, I’m still down.

I don’t actually keep a strict record, but that’s just my rough estimate.

Still, it’s not a big deal for me, I can afford to lose that amount, and honestly, I enjoy what I’m doing. So it’s more about the fun than the money.

How do you compute this ADL if you have a stagger gambling results like losing streak in 3 days then 1 win on the next day and so on with random results?

Do you consider the days in profit to lessen the losses or you will must consider the losing days to get the ADL?

Since you are concerned about your losses maybe you should stop trying different games and put effort on the games that gives you the most win. I don't like the idea of trying different games.

Why not! I don't gamble much in a day so I know my daily loss as well as my weekly loss. Before now I have make sure I gamble responsibly so I don't accumulate more loss than wins.

It's a personal choice though as there's nothing wrong in keeping some records. But honestly in gambling where losses are more compared to your wins, I won't advice you keep such records. That because over time you might be shocked how much you might have lost to gambling and it's may not be something you would have been willing to risk. It's better to just let go of such ideas and have fun. Don't treat gambling as a means of making money but a way to have fun.

Maybe tracking your average dialysis loss might be a good decision for you since you perceive gambling as a side hustle. If you are spending big amounts on your bet, checking your daily losses might also be ideal.

Checking my gambling account history should give me the amount I have lost or won daily.  But I don't see it as a necessary task since I gamble with an insignificant part of my income. I also don't gamble daily which makes my case different from the OP.

I don't know or better I didn't know when I used to gamble daily as you are asking for daily average loss as if I knew I am sure I would have stopped gambling a whole lot sooner than January 2025. I kept losing daily in a consistent way and if I would make an average of monthly it would be half of the limit of my credit card which I am still suffering now to get back on track and it was about 900-1000 EUR in a month at that time of gambling daily, so I would say the daily to be 30-40 EUR as my average loss. I never realized how much I lost unless one day I lost 24 buy bonuses in a row and then on top of that another 5 super buy bonus in a consecutive way, that made me mad and stopped right there though if this didn't happen I would still be gambling and never mind the average daily loss, luckily I am not sucked into slot machines anymore.

Not going to find out about the average daily loss because you already know you lose more than you win --- in this case in gambling we are ready to lose so there is no need to find out how much you lose because it can be stressful when you know you lose everything.

Just enjoy gambling and don't think about profit --- if in business maybe it is necessary to find out the reason for the average daily loss but in gambling it is very unnecessary.

Brother, you are absolutely right. I used to gamble just for fun, I didn't keep track. But now I also track ADL. One day I saw that $120 was spent in 3 days just on slots! From that day on, I understood – if you calculate business, then you need to calculate the loss from gambling as well.
Now I set a daily loss limit, if you cross that, I don't play anymore. It doesn't ruin the fun, but rather allows you to play a little smarter.

Even though this might have some advantage it's not something I like doing, tracking my losses to me is like a trigger... what's lost is gone, keeping track of it helps you know what you spend on gambling but still it doesn't change anything, the best thing you can do for yourself is to change your gambling habits and come up with ways to restrict yourself...you can do this by either having a weekly or monthly budget for it that you won't exceed.

Sorry to say this, you can not treat gambling as a side hustle. If you want to gamble just gamble for fun and don't gamble and hope to treat it as business that you always check your average daily gain or loses. Because you may end up losing more of your business money trying to gamble expecting to get something in return. There is no guarantee that treating gambling as a side hustle will be profitable.

That will be possible for a person who usually gamble on daily basis and not for weekend gamblers. For us weekend gamblers we should be calculating Average weekly loss AWL.

In my case, I have calculated limits for gambling, like Charles-Tim, instead of loses. I mean, I spend a certain amount, no matter if I win or lose. I personally prefer it rather than thinkin: if I lose x amount, I quit for today/this week.

swogerino, these amounts you mentioned are insane! I intuitively believe that, unless you're rich, one shouldn't spend more in gambling than what he spends in eating. Of course, we are free to do what we want with our spare money, but these amounts seem too much for the average Joe.

Personally, I don't consider gambling as a business to gain profit, so I don't calculate the average daily loss like you do. Currently, I consider the gambling I do as buying a ticket to enter a game ride, so what I enjoy is the game there. So when I experience a loss when gambling, then I consider it a cost for game entertainment, while if I experience a profit when gambling, then I consider it additional entertainment. Maybe what I do seems like I don't pay attention to spending, but I think this is what makes me comfortable and safe when gambling, so I don't think too much about losing or winning, and this is what allows me to limit myself. However, it's different when I run a business, I will still do calculations, because I don't think there is a risk factor for addiction there.

Since you gamble consistently, don't you make budgets of how much you should allocate to your gambling account every day or week? If you do and you keep records or how much you have fixed to be depositing every day or every week, you can easily know how much you are losing or how much you are earning daily. I gamble as much as you do but not without  having a fixed budget for every day gambling, I can track my bank wallet and know how much I have deposited to gambling and how much was also withdrawn but over time, I don't enjoy looking back at my lose.

Honestly, I don't make sports bets every day, I don't play every day either, even if every day had good games from the big leagues, I definitely wouldn't make sports bets every day, that would lead me down a path that would harm me a lot. That's why I prefer to make bets on weekends or in exceptional cases when I had a good game on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. But only if it's an exceptional case, the following week I wouldn't repeat the same thing

Bad idea, gambling shouldn't be treated as a side hustle, you clearly are after the money and choosing gambling as the solution is terrible, listening to this advice is your choice but I will repeat myself, don't do it.
Anything apart from trying to have a great time betting on games and sports you will likely ruin yourself in the process, forget that average daily loss idea, since your goal is to make money effectively you will likely fail.
If your business isn't bringing you enough money apply other methods, maybe add something entirely new to what you are selling, this will give you peace of mind, but with gaming losing money is the most ascertained. You've be warned.

I don't do this because am not a gambler that is playing and staking to make money, knowing my average daily loss could make me get discouraged knowing the total amount being lost on average daily.

Another thing is on calculating this, will it be that easy to do continuous everyday or we may just consider weekly or monthly in calculating for this, we should also consider that not every gambler plays on a daily basis, while some can play as many as possible games within a day.
