Never heard of such a thing, even with BTC. Only for deposits, maybe. As soon as they broadcast your transaction, only one confirmation is enough, and you will have the tokens in your wallet. Where the delay usually happens is when there is that manual review and they have not yet created/signed and broadcasted your transaction.

6 confirmations shouldn't take more than a few minutes on the ERC20 network. It is a bit surprising that your withdrawal was delayed by a few hours for that reason. Customer staffs have their specific tasks and one of them is receiving support request from users and answering it directly or forwarding it to the company's internal teams for further assistance. It's normal that a customer support staff is unable to handle all questions from users but through internal lines, finally the answers will be given to customers.

As far as the answers for customers are accurate, it's acceptable but surely the procedure of forwarding issues to internal team, and back to the customer support staff takes a little bit time that might cause some kind of inconvenience for users.

Well as experience as we are, it's true, Bitcoin is just one confirmation and that's it. So it really doesn't make sense at all for the support staff unless they really don't know what they are saying. We can only give them the benefit of the doubt, but still, next time they should not have a vague answer as most of us here are "smart" enough to know how many confirmations we needed.
