Trump could not have picked a better time. Just as the entire crypto market is seen celebrating with bitcoin reaching a new ath and altcoins also gaining significantly, he threatens 50% tariffs on EU to begin on June 1st. Apparently because they have been difficult and unrelentless during the negotiations. I am assuming that this pissed off Trump and which is why he immediately declared straight 50% tariffs on EU.

As expected, the consequences have been quick. Futures for the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average slid 1.5% and Nasdaq futures tumbled 1.7% before the bell. Oil prices fell and Treasury yields sank. Bitcoin, which had recently pushed to new highs, tumbled to $108,500, marking a 2.7% drop in 24 hours.


I do not believe that this will make bitcoin collapse as seen as in many headlines (if you were to ask me, I think a lot of critics are hoping bitcoin crash lol) that I see. It just sucks that this economic/political decision has stopped (for now) bitcoin's journey to more aths. Do you think that had Trump not done this, will bitcoin go on to reach a new ath this week or at least before the month ends or do you think that Trump's announcement did not really make any difference as it would have gone to a similar ending?

The wordings are usually too strong for the little percentage movements that Bitcoin does nowadays, sure. But the quantity of liquidations on futures was massive. Just as people turned bullish again, a small crash was induced with the idea of tariffs. EU sucks in many ways, he should strong arm them for sure.

Their trade deals are shit and often unfair in terms of percentages that are imposed on products, not on total balances in USD. His approach is radical, but what would you do? Continue to let poorer countries bleed you dry? If USA can accept your products, then you in return accept theirs at the same rates. Minor exceptions apply, but they are not worth noting if you have common sense.

Tim Cook would wonder about the kind of man Trump is, despite investing $500 billion in the US which covers for building a plant in Houston Texas and the provision of 20,000 jobs to the American people, Trump still insists on 25% tarrif, it's quite challenging dealing with Trump, when about 80% of Apple production is from China. They've got to pay, until their US plant is concluded in 2026.

Many of us voted exactly for a revenge government.  What the world did to us just because Joe Biden was asleep at the wheel is not easily forgotten or forgiven.  We will not become a bankrupted dumping ground for immigrants and we will not be the source of global welfare any longer.  We're taking Ukraine's minerals and leaving them in peace.  We're kicking out illegals and we're closing fraud loopholes.  This will result in short term pain for those who have been a part of the grift and those who have indirectly benefitted from the grift.  Long term the country will be stronger because of it.

Just because you are a poor country, that does not give you the right to abuse a richer one. A lot of the trade deals are terrible, you have no idea what you are talking about. On some things the USA has a tariff of for example 10% while the other country has a rate that it 5 or even 10 times higher for the same category of items. Why should they accept this? Honestly I just think it's healthy correction which will just make way for more gains and even more ATHs ! Trump isn't playing games and we've seen some growth pains for real and now we're about to see those growth all time highs!!

The quarrelsome old Trump never rests. He plays with the entire world with his acrobatic moves that leave no one at rest. We hardly rest from the impact of one of Trump's decisions until he surprises us with another....

He wants the entire world to be under US control by any means, even if it leads to a global economic collapse. He seems to still be living in a past-time mentality and has not realized that the world has changed and that countries are no longer subject to US control, especially in the economic sphere.
In any case, even if Bitcoin is temporarily affected, I don't believe this influence will last long.

I think this won't affect BTC to much, i'd like to think that it's just temporary shock toward the market and eventually people come to their sense and think that this tariff is just part of negotiation and market recovers.

Apparently the dump wasn't that bad either and the price correction is guaranteed to happen anyway after BTC reaching ATH. But I think in just 2-3 weeks market will recover and might be heading for new ATH but that's just my opinion of course.

It clearly had a short-term impact but I don’t believe it’s enough to derail bitcoin’s longer-term trajectory. I do think we might’ve seen BTC stretch toward another ATH this week or at least keep its momentum going a bit longer. Bitcoin has proven time and again that it bounces back fast sometimes stronger than before. So even if this caused a temporary dip I don’t think it’s the end of the rally. It is interesting how resilient BTC proves to be over the next few days.

These are just short-term effects and nothing to worry about, and we don't need to blame Trump because even without him, Bitcoin would have corrected at some point. Bitcoin is volatile and unpredictable, and it has increased significantly by continuously hitting higher ATHs so a correction is inevitable.

But this news again shows that people still see bitcoin as a speculative asset rather than a safe haven. Investors are willing to dump it if there is negative news.

Its not surprising anymore. Trump is random but this one seem very political, did he think his counterparts will believe he really will ditch his allies for decades?  I doubt the Chinese will see it that way.

But yep the market will react whatever is neccesary. If he made the stock market crash in US, they will also do it on EU just so the rich can buy the much more after. Sooner when the dump is over he will also say "Buy  EU Stocks" because it will rocket.

Let's not forget that over the past few weeks, Bitcoin and the market is going upwards, so I guess a bit of a correction is needed. It's happening already before the Trump announcement happened where the market is going into a correction. It's just that, his announcement coincided with the correction that's happening hence, pushing the price of Bitcoin and other altcoins downward even more.

Over the last 12 hours, around $113M worth of Longs got liquidated based on Coinglass, and this is the reason why we always need to put a stoploss when we are trading. As retail investors/traders, we don't have any inside knowledge. Yesterday, I already saw the market going down significantly, but I can't find any reason why online until 30 minutes to around an hour where I saw a post regarding Trump imposing at around 50% tariffs on EU, and that caused the market to tumble. Always put a stop-loss because news like this can happen anytime.

As for your question OP, I believe that it can, or at least we see Bitcoin going as high as $112,000 this month, but this post by Trump made it impossible to happen... or at least this month. Over the weeks, we will be seeing Bitcoin and the market going up as usual because we are still in a bullish trend.

It's not exactly an ATH since we've already touched this level back in December last year and again in January (2 times already). But in any case, Trump is just a delusional old man at the head of a collapsing "empire" (for lack of a better word). The tariff war that they're waging against the world is also not new and the recession has been a constant presence that has put a sell pressure on bitcoin market preventing its rise.

So nothing new is happening here to talk about an "imminent collapse of bitcoin" just because this delusional elderly repeated the same old stuff.

If we see a worse recession and a massive economic collapse globally then we can talk about its negative effects on bitcoin. Until then the same trend as past 5 years is what we should expect.

Trump seems playing with tariffs; when he increases tariffs for any big country, then we see an short reaction in the crypto market. So far we have seen that after a few days the market forgets about the Trump tariffs and grows normally. So I am not really much concerned about Trump's tariff; it's a normal part of the economy, but it seems Trump is quite abnormal. He charges some unrealistic tariff and then changes it later. Ultimately US citizens have to pay the cost; due to tariffs, companies have to increase the product price that citizens have to pay from their ends.

Either a tariff increase or decrease Bitcoin definitely will break ATH. It would take months or years; we don't know. Because Bitcoin movements just don't depend on the tariff or any other single matter. Bitcoin price increases on demand, so we have to wait for the investors when they will accumulate more and help us to boost

Who cares. Bitcoin is going to hit more and more ATHs in the future. I really hope that the financial markets will get used to Trump's unpredictable decisions, so there will be less panic every time when Trump imposes new tariffs or sanctions. We really don't have to pay much attention to the pointless drama that is happening on the markets(or the mainstream media).
I thought that the BTC price will drop after hitting 105K USD several days ago, but the price reached 111K USD. This is yet another proof that nobody can predict the BTC price movements. I'm sure that, sooner or later, the US and the EU will negotiate a deal and this positive news will help the BTC price to reach another ATH.
