Greek Football 2025-2026 Season Discussion and Predictions

In this thread we'll be discussing happenings for the 2025/2026 Greek Super League and Greek football in general on a national and international level.

The teams that were relegated are Lamia and Kallithea and the new teams in super league are Larisa and Kifissia which are clubs with a long history.

Let's see what will happen in this season's Super league, Greek Cup, Europa and Conference League as well as any national team matches.

How about just keeping everything in the already existing thread? That makes it easier for the community to follow. you created  that topic so you can edit the title to that of the new season and edit the OP with the relevant info. This is how I see it done for other topics of different league seasons.

IMO, this is very wrong and frustrating and not easy at all to follow. Since the previous thread was regarding the previous year's league, OP should lock it and make a new one for the new season. As he will do. Changing the title every year and continuing the same thread will be more than an encyclopedia in terms of pages, posts, etc. Imagine a thread starting from a Championship back in 2001 until now. A megathread will be tiny!

I agree, it would be frustrating for someone new to enter the topic and basically stumble upon discussions of both Super Leagues. It's best to have a new, clean topic for each one, there's no use having a 20+ pages long thread for the upcoming league. Still too early to discuss the upcoming League, but kudos on you for starting the topic, hopefully, it'll be enriched soon enough. The previous League was entertaining, and I was excited to see OFI in the finals, while from a gambling perspective, it went great as well.

No doubt that for OFI this year was very good and can be considered as fully successful. Even if it sounds more than hard, if they continue and stick to their plan, they can only gain good things and further successful years.
We can start enriching the thread with the transfers for the new season. So, Olympiakos has already signed Remy Cabella from Lille and AEK has signed Dereck Kutesa from Servette. Cabella is a well-known virtuoso, a good addition but IMO the age can be an obstacle. Kutesa is a different story and it will be a challenge for him to be in a team like AEK. However, AEK needs a coach after the departure of Matias Almeyda.
It will be interesting to see how all the teams that have international duties will move in this transfer window. With the current format, there isn't much time for rest.

It's been a while since the last reply and I decided to update the thread since the new season is starting in just a few days. What expectations do you have for this season and how do you think it'll progress? It's certainly too early to make assumptions, but just to have a general idea. I'm posting the upcoming matches to speculate the outcome of the following weekend.

The first matches of the upcoming Greek Super League are starting in just a few days, from Sunday to Monday. The first match of the season is Aris vs. Volos, followed by Olympiakos vs. Asteras Tripolis and Panetolikos vs. Atromitos. I'm personally going to skip Olympiakos vs Asteras and bet on the other two for the first day, while the other two days we'll get to see the new teams of this season AE Kifissia and AE Larissa. AEL doesn't stand a chance against PAOK on Sunday, while AE Kifissia is going to be challenged against Levadiakos.

Taking a look at the upcoming matches for the first matchday I think the match with OFI is one of the more interesting ones.
But seems to have been postponed because Panathinaikos is trying to qualify for europa league. Lol good luck with that, but they had a right to postpone one match and used it in the first possible occasion.

I'll go for the second most interesting match to bet on for me.



I think Aris is the easy pick for a win against Volos who has been barely hanging on the super league for so long. 1.67 seem pretty decent odds. Let's see how well prepared Aris will be or will Volos make a surprise debut?

In the last season, Aris finished in fifth place, which shows their strength in the league even though they didn't make it to the championship round. On the other side, Volos is a lucky team because they're still playing in the Greek top league after finishing third in the relegation round.

We see a clear difference between the two teams & therefore, I think the choice to choose Aris is the best, especially since the odds offered are also good.

Well the championship round of the Greek super league is a tough story.

It was boring with 5 teams because the 5th was always a runner up. Instead of expanding it to give more variety and help smaller teams get stronger, they made it even smaller at 4 teams and now they're the only ones getting more benefits from TV rights and more matched between big old rivals.

Honestly it has turned too much into a monopoly for Olympicos and if they're generous giving a title to another of the top 4 here and there.

As someone who bets, I also follow Greek football. Yesterday, Panathinaikos and Samsunspor faced each other, and Pana won 2-1.
Pana's team and squad are at least two to three times better than Samsun's, and they have a very good squad. Samsun took the lead but still lost. The match in Samsun will also be played with a Pana victory. I live in Türkiye, but these facts must be accepted. Olympiacos will win the Greek league this year. I say this as someone who admires Olympiacos's manager.

Well, it's been a long time since this thread was active, and finally, I see it bumping again. Let's see what this season will bring.
The Greek Superleague starts tomorrow, but honestly, none of them look interesting for betting on it. Since this is the opening round and also the odds for almost all the matches are low, I will stay out of betting. We might witness some surprises, so I won't risk it.

As in almost all the years. Olympiakos is the biggest favorite. Then we have Panathinaikos, AEK, and PAOK. However, things can change since the transfer window is still open. Panathinaikos today just made a very good transfer (on loan form), Renato Sanches from PSG. There are some rumours, though, that Panathinaikos put some clauses regarding Sanches' health since he is known for being easily injured. In any case, if he is healthy can be very important for them and make a difference.

It's about time the new season started, I was starting to get bored, with no matches to place bets on. As you've said, it's still the opening round and the matches can be quite unpredictable, especially at the start. I'll personally proceed with a few bets, even thought it's quite uncertain, I'm willing to take the risk.

It's quite annoying that in the Greek Super League, the teams you mentioned, from top to bottom, are those are the favorites of the Greek Football. I was pleasantly surprised to see OFI against Olympiakos in the previous league's finals, but the result was expected.

I don't like it either but it is what it is. Unfortunately, the Greek Superleague suffers from this "Big-4" monotony and other things as well. Like foreign referees.
In any case, even if I wouldn't bet since it's the 1st round, I predict Olympiakos and Aris to win (easy or hard) and a draw on the last game between Panaitolikos and Atromitos.

But I guess after going back to the changing rooms they renowned their strategy against Volos with their coach and got back with the match being 2 - 0 now in the 69th minute.

Yeah, I was also taken aback, but in the end, they managed to deliver two goals, so not too bad I guess. Olympiakos of course won against Asteras Tripolis, I skipped this match because the odds were quite poor, and Panetolikos vs. Atromitos is still live, at half-time currently, with Atromitos scoring one goal in 41th minute. I'm having high hopes for this specific match, the odds are quite decent and hopefully, it'll be the first "major" win of the Greek Super League.

Yeah, it is what it is, we don't like many things in Greece, football is the least of our worries. The draw for Panetolikos vs. Atromitos looks very plausible outcome right now.

Managed to score my first major win with Atromitos vs. Panetolikos, with great odds. Initially, I wanted to bet over Panetolikos, but I ended up changing my mind in the last minute, fortunately for the better. We'll see how tomorrow goes, there are some interesting matches, but unfortunately OFI vs. Panathinaikos has been postponed and hasn't been announced yet. This match was a good headstart, I'm looking forward for the rest of the season.
