For over a year plus I have been an active trader's mostly I trade on derivative market, oh yeah the most risky form of trading, since you can blow off your balance to liquidation if the market goes against your position, but that is not why we are here with this topic, but let dive into it straight away.

Future derivative trading is liken to gambling since both activities have similar outcomes and results which is either you gain it all your you lose everything, but with proper management one can still make something out of this risky trading pattern but once you hit the jackpot, it becomes almost a go to point whenever you want to trade.

So the question is, can one becomes addicted to trading same way gambling can be addictive?

Yes, trading is addictive, but the only difference is that its addiction is not as rampant/tough as that of gambling and others.

The reason is that a bigger money is involved in trading, unlike gambling, where you can continue to gamble a little or a big amount, or a mix of the two, without control. The money in trading always teaches people that lesson and forces them to quit it more easily.

How do you know you are addicted to trading? Just as with other addictions, you will be unproductively and uncontrollably do it.

I am not really of the opinion that trading can be as so addictive as gambling, they may share some similarities that will make one compare them to each other, but they still have somethings about them that are distinct and that’s what differentiate them from each other and makes one not so as addictive as the way the other is.

In trading, you can only be addictive to the market when you’re already profitable or begin to see result of your trading yielding. You can’t continue to be on a losing streak and still feel comfortable have begin to have that instincts of already been addictive, that’s impossible in trading.

A gambling addiction is base on the fact that you know it is base on luck and you keep trying hoping to hit the jackpot one day, whereas in trading; you can tell yourself that if you don’t have that knowledge of trading you’re missing big and cannot win by luck so it won’t prompt you to get addicted to it until you start to see result.

Yes, it can be. If we believe that we can make money into it, sometimes we are willing to spend more money and time into it hence, getting addicted into it. I'm not saying though that trading = gambling because you can prevent to have more losses in trading thru stop-loss, and gambling doesn't have that... or maybe you can consider "Cash-out" option as kind of a stop-loss, but here are some of the signs that I believe a trader is getting addicted into trading.

One primary sign that the trader is addicted to trading is "Overtrading", and I tried it myself already, and there's only one thing that I will say when it comes to overtrading. It's very "STRESSFUL". Even you're losing already, you will still trade without proper strategy because you're trying to chase those losses. Sometimes, overtrading leads to emotional distress because of how stressful it is, and it can make some traders addicted to it as well. Professional traders only make at around 2-3 trades per day at least.

Neglecting responsibilities might be one as well. I mean if you skip your responsibilities, or you forgot your health, and if you're constantly watching the markets for most of the day already then it's also a sign that you're addicted into it as well. If trading interferes your daily life, that's also a sign of trading addiction, and it's never been good especially to our health.

There might be more reason, but bottom line is that, trading can be addictive, but with proper mindset, we can prevent it.

You would be having that kind of approach on which you do keep on going or coming back despite of the loses that you had made out earlier on which you would be that having that mainly on having mind that you can be able to do it in the end on which there's something that kind of advantage whenever you do have this kind of mentality because you do never give up. Trading isnt something that can be considered or similar to gambling because on here we do able to learn up the skills for you to be able to have that good grasps towards the market. In speaking about on having that kind of addiction then we do all for sure having that kind of emotions or conditions too but just like been said that it wont be that similar when pertaining about doing gambling because both are totally different things if you do ask me. There are those conditions or situations that you might be already chasing up your loses but usually addiction will only that triggers out at the time that you are making money.

Well, you need to be consistent in trading, so I agree with the above post that trading is addictive.

For me, the signs that you are addicted to trading are if you spend more time analyzing the market and consistently checking the market.

However, if we compare it to gambling, there are similarities, but in trading, it isn't based on luck. We have lots of data that we can use in trading with proper risk management, and with a good trading skill, you should be able to be more profitable than in gambling.

One signs of it is that you will always have the urge to just go into the market without a proper plane and without having any strategy in mind to use. What I mean is, the person is always willing to be used as liquidity, they don't care.
For someone that is not addicted, you will see how they prioritize risk management, they don't want to give any careless chance of losing any trade they take.
Trading can be addictive but seeing addicted traders is rare, it's not as common as seeing addicted gamblers.

Trading can be as addictive as gambling. After they lose such amount of money, they may think of changing. There are reasons there are also rehabilitation centers for people that are trading.

The rehabilitation center cited estimates that about 1% of cryptocurrency traders will develop an "extreme" addiction to crypto trading.

Those who have kept on trading and consistently lose their funds, but still have no plans to improve their trading knowledge and acquire effective strategies, may eventually fall as trading addicts. So yes, trading addicts certainly exist.

However, they are not like gambling addicts that can easily gamble even with a minimal funds, since trading itself requires more capital, and most of all knows how to analyze the market well since it’s the most basic thing to do in order to end up a trade successful. Anyone can be addicted to anything that has the potential to given instant rewards or gratification, that makes the individual feels good quickly for a short moment.

Trading ticks off these boxes. And if you compare addiction symptoms, it is similar in every aspect whether trading or gambling or I'm other activities. If I see that your ability to perform things you normally do has become hindered by an unexplainable and an unhealthy obsession with an active it is an addiction and need attention to overcome it immediately.

It can become addictive in its own way, but not like gambling. Trading especially if you do scalping or day trading is very draining because one has to do Technical Analysis and set up strategies unlike gambling where one mostly relies on chance.

People get addicted to many things... Could be certain food, drink, hubby etc. And if people could be addicted to these things then trading can be addictive too. When you excessively trade, can't go without trading in a day. When trading you don't stop till you blow your account. It's all signs of trading addiction.

A seasoned trader knows that the best time to enter a trade is when an opportunity is discovered and not to just trade because you feel like trading.

I think everything that produces money will always pave way for addiction, hence trading addiction isn’t an exception. The fact that trading has become popular as a get-rich-quick tool, then it’s not surprising that a lot would try trading and fall into trading addiction. Trading addicts are more of becoming compulsive, and just rush into decision making that would only bring losses in the end. Yes, of course, trading can also be more addictive than gambling since it also generates profit if you're lucky enough, and most of them are those eagerly chasing money.

• You lose sleep, meals, and basic human dignity because candlestick charts are your new religion

Addiction is a word that most persons have made look like is only used for bad things whereas it is not true. Someone can be addicted to something meant to be good that it becomes bad. Trading is good, but there are people that are showing similar signs that addicts to other dangerous habits still show.
There are traders who are addicted, they have ignored other people and activities so much just trying to focus on trading. That is not very good and an obvious sign of addiction.

Yes one can become an addictive trader and some of the signs to look out for are signs you find in every other addiction and this does not matter if you are winning or losing. If you can control how you are trading then you are becoming addicted and that is not a good thing because although it might be great when you are winning but immediately you start losing, it will become a nightmare for you. It is always better not to be addicted at all, when you are chasing losses, you are getting addicted too if you are not already addicted. When you trade above your budget or the time you use to trade before then you are beginning to over trade which is a step to addicted. To avoid being addicted, have a trading budgets and time which you will be trading.

from the perspective of what happens trading. can be addictive but it all depends on their opinion to go there depending on their perspective that judges, because there are good things from trading. depending on their understanding when doing it because they can get a decent profit if they understand even though liquidity is high many of them do it, but compared to long-term investment trading. can be said to be more suitable even though losing money can happen depending on the person's understanding.

Doing thing that will bring you profit. can make you easily additive, because when you are staking and winning without giving space you will easily be additive in the market, because the way you continuing wining that is the way you continuing staking to be getting profits, and again When you are chasing your losing make you additive easily too. Because some beleave that they most achieve there goals, they didn't care of losing there funds and gradually they will be addict, they can't do without trading a day. Many people are interested on trading but is few that perfect and trade frequently and getting profits and became addict in it. If they didn't get profit that specific day they won't stop, they continuing staking and that make you addict in trading. A Risk taker always becomes additive when risking anytime because they focus on there goals. and if the market didn't well for them that is how they will be using different strategies to achieve there goals.
