I'm happy to announce my AI project is almost ready for beta testers.  I made up my mind to program this exclusively using AI, and that is the reason it went way past my expected launch time.  Sad

If you are interested in helping me test and suggest new features, please comment below.    The only thing required is trust I haven't put any nefarious code in the extension, or trust in someone else who is able to confirm the code is safe.

What is Shadowpulse B?  It is a bitcointalk subset version of my larger tool.  A chrome extension (manifest v3) allows members to vote on their favorite Board, Topic or Post.  It is cheat resistant and can be used if you are logged into the forum or not.   It does not read/modify any HTML - it blindly inserts a frame at the bottom of the page once it loads.     It does not require any registration and detailed stats will be available based on your extension member id (a random number with no association to you).    I will be sending anonymized traffic stats to ninjatastic to compliment his post stats.

User tools include ninja search from any page, and current bitcoin price info (trend and 60m).  I will monetize to pay for it by the text ads and add future options.

Edit:  Wanted to add - first thing it does is check URL.  If it doesn't start with bitcointalk.org, the extension stops.  You can verify this easy by using Dev Tools (F12)

Could you provide instructions (or just a link) for where to find it and how to add it? I can't seem to find it on the chrome extension store.

Would also be good if there's a GitHub where the code can be reviewed and downloaded/added independently (if that's possible).

I am the all and powerful Vod - nothing is impossible.    Tongue

I won't be submitting it to the Chrome store until after Beta.  I also have plans to add it to github but I it's too poorly coded right now.   Plus I don't want to share my alexa replacement with the web until I'm almost ready - you know what competition is like!

Right now I'm verifying everything is secure for review (no dbase credentials or other in comments) since you are able to view the JS code easily yourself.   I'll PM you instructions when it is ready for beta testing (this week) if you'd like.

Sounds good, I'll have a look once it's ready.

You mentioned sending anonymised traffic to ninjastic, so will board/topic/post reputation scores be visible on his site without needing the extension? Would probably be pretty helpful to mark clearly scam/unhelpful posts that the moderators don't want to remove (for whatever reason). I won't lie, it's pretty silly to me that a place like this doesn't natively have "deMerits" or some sort of downvote feature, so this is pretty cool  Roll Eyes

Ranking close to asking OgNasty to police the trust system, this is one of Theymos' most tacky (lol) control moves.   I originally suggested merit to Theymos as a way to "like" a post, but he turned it into a complicated approval and control game.  Anyone can like a post without needing permission from someone with a "like license", so why do we give this power to merit sources?  Theynos - please create new smerit equally and fairly amount all legendaries, which is a lot simpler to tweak than individual amounts anyway and is vacation proof, suicide proof, etc.

You mentioned sending anonymised traffic to ninjastic, so will board/topic/post reputation scores be visible on his site without needing the extension?

Yes, you will be able to view my traffic stats on ninjas site without needing the extension - which only works on this url anyways.  Keep in mind the highest rated topics/posts reports I produce will be reflective only of the users with my extension.  But the neat thing about stats is it makes people compete, and to do that you'll need the extension.  Smiley

That is an interesting concept. I was quite curious about what project you were using AI for, in our previous discussions on a different topic.

But I do wonder what made you think that there was a need for an alternative to the merit system? Are there any problems it is addressing and what are the solutions that this tool brings?

The distributions of smerit might be too "controlled". I could perhaps agree with that. But would that necessarily mean that merited topics would be differently ranked with this new system? After all, a good topic is a good topic. The better a topic the more merits. Would a different ranking system look much different, aside from a few topics that have gained a disproportionate amount of merits due to being buddy buddy with higher-ups?

What about a system that ranks topics/posts on the amount of people from which the merits were received instead of a new ranking foundation, or the amount of merits received?

What about a system that ranks topics/posts on the amount of people from which the merits were received instead of a new ranking foundation, or the amount of merits received?

That's a great question - I didn't design this as an alternative to the merit system, I designed it as a successor to the Alexa toolbar, which used to rank websites.  Since I am here all the time, I coded it around this website while including functionality for the web as a whole.   The merit spin is just good timing?

This is not meant to replace merit.  It does not affect anything on the forum, and it will never have the reach the merit system does.  However, it should mimic smerit given to content, assuming the merit system is open and fair.   I have a unique ranking system that hinders cheating and even though it's so simple I have not seen it anywhere.   You can see what I mean if you are interested in testing (are you?) but if a normal user visits twenty different websites, they do not consider them all the absolute "worst" or "best".  Nor do they have time to adjust old ratings as time passes.

I feel Theymos has all but retired - he has more than enough $ for generations so why put up with the politics?  You can jury rig whatever type of pretty facades you want over a rusty foundation, but I don't think the merit system has a future without fair distribution.

Funny considering the name of the topic  Cheesy
Jokes aside though, it doesn't have to be an alternative or replacement, I think it's valuable regardless to open the door for more transparency and inclusivity...

I think your idea just circles back to being a one-member one-vote system, except there is disproportionality, some people have plenty of votes and some have very few. I like the idea that this could be a good complementary system alongside merit, making reputation more democratic and giving broader insight from the community (as long as there is some sort of spam control, which I assume Vod has covered when he says it is cheat resistant...), with merit being like a sort of weighted trust from more experienced users.

ShadowPulse will also be supported on Brave, Edge, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi and Yandex browsers.  I like the new v3 manifest; organization makes it so easy to port.

I have two confirmed testers - I'm looking for around five.   You don't need technical skills, just a curiosity of "what would happen if I do this?", specifically in the ranking areas.   As long as one of the testers can understand javascript it's easy to see what I'm doing - and that does not include reading or modifying the page HTML.

Again, "alternative to merit" is just a time sensitive thing - I was ready for testing at the same time the merit system is being attacked.   My extension allows people to express their opinions on individual topics and posts, not authors directly.   I'm not ranking people - that's for BPIP - I'm ranking posts and topics that extension users find exceptional, in a superior way to just like/dislike.
