We all know who Ross Ulbricht was and the story behind his arrest years back, concerning running ban illegal cannabis and narcotics buying and selling on a platform with the use of bitcoin, now there was a transaction into his wallet referred to donation.

What the news says was that Ross Ulbricht received a donation of about $300 million into his wallet, but there have been lots of controversies concerning this on how root behind the fund source.

But as a Bitcoin community, what is our take on this, considering various opinions from the public view on the reason for this donation, but before then, hear what other thoughts might be concerning it.

1. Ross Ulbricht might just have transferred bitcoin from his wallet to another one.

2. Someone donated this much to him, but who could have be.

3. This was part of the share on the seized bitcoin transactions tagged under cannabis and narcotics platform he operates by the government.

Before that, let me also remind us of how Ross Ulbricht was pardoned by president Trump out of the prison, today we have this to also say concerning a $300,000,000 worth of bitcoin into his wallet, What do you think.

Since the source of the bitcoin is not trackable it's all going to be a speculation on who and how come of the money but then Ross knows what exactly the money was. it  could be tagged donations but then it could be a pending payment from his clients just delivered.
There could be more and more speculations like this but then if truly a donation it's really such an amount that can't be over looked as a donation.

Who could it have actually been? No one can tell the wallet which sent that amount to his wallet started funding the sender's wallet since April 22, preparing it for this moment when the total bitcoin was finally dumped in Ross Ulbricht's donation address.

It could be a donation from one of his supporters, but who knows? But for the claim that this belongs to one of his old wallets, to me, he won't be that stupid to make such transactions public by sending it to his public address tagged to his name.

Mind you, the coin has now been moved out from the said address to a different address, which I presume the link to where exactly it's going to will break on the way.

Wherever that donation came from, it doesn’t really matter now .. what matters is he has the money to spend, now that he’s a free man.

This guy isn’t just some ordinary person. Even though he was in prison, he probably still has his network running in the background. And who knows, that “donation” might just be his own money all along. But one thing’s for sure,  Ross knows the consequences if he gets caught doing anything illegal again.

How did you make up $300,000,000. What I can only see in the wallet is $31 million, or are my missing something?

The only way to even confirm the deposit is through his wallet address or TXid, but none is present, so it's safe to say that it's all speculations. Unless of course we wait for when he grants a personal interview and confirms the funds receipt.

Ross knows the consequences if he gets caught doing anything illegal again.

Was that not why they could call the transaction a donation, receiving such huge amount is more than just what a donation could give in such manners, if it was truly a donation, who game it and on what ground? I understand he's a man of influence and a public figure, but I just hope this does not get him into another trouble, but since we are still under Trump regime, I want to believe that immunity covers him, since it was the same Trump who worked out him release, he can't go back again to jail.

It could be a donation from one of his supporters, but who knows?

Supporter Or from his fellow business barons.

The news says "300 bitcoins (approximately $ 31.4 million)."
I have 2 opinions about this. If this translation was performed by Ross himself, then why did he need such risks?
He could easily utter coins for himself in small amounts and not attract attention.

Or he urgently needs to need money for a purchase for example, an expensive real estate.

Could it be that the address already sending out the 300 bitcoin is already connected to Ross main access and as such if he tries to go through the route of actually taking it out by pieces to other wallets it will raises questions or attract attention since it was done after his release because definitely onchain analysts will be monitoring addresses attached to his and reason why he took the risk of it been a donation.

Or is this a payment from someone who actually is indebted to him maybe past dealings and call it donations.

Technically all the coins before October 1, 2013 could be seized. But, after that, the coins should be belong to Ross because he no longer run Silk Road.

If the government seized all his coins, they actually steal it because they also seized "clean coins".

I remember there was a dedicated donation for Ross, so I think it was the reason he get a lot of coins.

According to ZachXBT, the donated coins came from Jambler. I don’t know whether this is true or not because I thought the whole point of Jambler was that they give you coins that are clean and shouldn’t get flagged.

It could have been a donation or something else but so long as it is not an illegal Bitcoin I don't think that we should care much about it. The dude is just out of prison after so many years and right now he would focus on doing what is within the law and not trying to break it again. Aside their meme coin which was on the internet at about the time he was to be released this is the second time I am reading anything public about him.

According to ZachXBT, the donated coins came from Jambler. I don’t know whether this is true or not because I thought the whole point of Jambler was that they give you coins that are clean and shouldn’t get flagged.
But Jambler is a mixer, right? So the fact that the funds went through it means they were probably trying to clean or launder the money or at least that’s what it looks like.

Still, unless it’s proven that the money came from illegal activities, we should just treat it as a donation or whatever people want to call it. This guy has always been controversial, so maybe it’s fair to give him some space and let him enjoy his freedom for now.

All this speculation won’t really help anyone anyway.

Before that, let me also remind us of how Ross Ulbricht was pardoned by president Trump out of the prison, today we have this to also say concerning a $300,000,000 worth of bitcoin into his wallet, What do you think?

How can it be accepted that Ross Ulbricht will be gifted $30 million worth of Bitcoin? In a competitive market right now, it is not credible to gift $30 million worth of Bitcoin.

I think the Bitcoin Ross Ulbricht left behind before he went to prison is now being returned to him. Maybe ten years ago it would have been possible to gift Bitcoin like this, but today, due to the skyrocketing competition and price of Bitcoin, no one would be able to gift Bitcoin to anyone.

#1 is unreasonable, as privacy matters and why would he sends from his own wallet to his donation address. #2 is pretty normal and it could just donation from a service trying to help from those unfair verdict in the past which give encouragement to others to build more privacy focused platforms. #3 is unreasonable too, seized coins? Government won't give it back, it's not his to begin with.

#2 is pretty normal...

A Bitcoin donation is indeed pretty normal. Ross has been receiving hundreds of donations in the past. In addition, auctions and fund drives and other related initiatives were also done in his behalf back when he was still in prison. That's 2013 to 2025, more than a decade. What was raised all in all isn't even half of the recent donation.

I'm saying this isn't normal. Sent when he just made an auction of some of his personal belongings. Sent from a mixer. Sent when he's already in the outside world. Sent when he no longer needs money for lawyers and whatnot. This isn't normal.

When Ross Ulbricht was in prison, it seemed acceptable and normal for his friends, fans, or those interested in his cause to donate to support him and demand his release. But now it seems strange especially given the large sum.

I mean, why would anyone donate $300 million to Ross after he was released and no longer needed the money? Also if it was just a donation, it was a matter of public opinion then why use a mixer to send Bitcoin?

There has been a lot of mystery surrounding the man since Trump released him. A few days ago he was invited to attend a Bitcoin conference as an influential figure. And now this strange news about a $300 million donation has surfaced.

it is way too big to be a donation, imo

especially coming from just one individual or even one organization i still think that no one would give a whopping $300 million as donation in one go not even millionaires i think

1. Ross Ulbricht might just have transferred bitcoin from his wallet to another one
this is the most plausible thing actually and it might be just this one i am sure if anyone picks up on the thread there could be answers

Was it a one time transfer, or did the money come from different transactions? It will be more suspicious if it were a one time payment. I mean, what kind of donation is worth $300 and is made once from one address? Even the richest man in the world is not that rich to the extent of giving out $300, and the most generous man in the world isn't that generous.

The money could be from anywhere. It could also be money that was not recovered by the government in its investigation. The money could be from any source for whatever reason, I guess we will never know, but it makes sense that they will say it was donations.

It's entirely possible it's a real donation. If some of you remember years ago a lot of btc was donated to Andreas when people found out he didn't actually have much btc. One individual even donated millions to Andreas. So even though people are speculating Ross sent it to himself it's possible someone in the Bitcoin space just wanted to do something nice for a Bitcoin OG and sent him a large amount.

I do not care if this donation is real or not real, however, if you do not speculate that Ross had an unknown wallet of bitcoin before he was imprisoned, I would tell you or imply that you are headshaking.

There is very much a higher chance this donation is Ross' bitcoin than a donation from another person. Who would donate $30 million to an exconvict? This was also without an announcement and the source of the coins? Where is this from?
