While Trump mentioned that he wanted to reduce the deficit in the US, the latest proposal to which quite a few republicans actually oppose, seems to go in the opposite direction.

Elon Musk has hit out at President Donald Trump's signature tax and spending bill, describing it as a "disgusting abomination", in a widening rift between the two allies.

The budget - which includes multi-trillion dollar tax breaks and more defence spending while also allowing the US government to borrow more money - was passed by the House of Representatives last month.

In its current form, the bill - which Trump refers to as the "big beautiful bill" - has been estimated to increase the budget deficit - the difference between what the government spends and the revenue it receives - by about $600bn (£444bn) in the next fiscal year.

Does anyone think that this seems to be going in the wrong direction if one would want a more stable and solid economy? I mean, even a rating agency reduced the US treasury bond rating - a one in fifty chance of seeing this in you life.

Didn't Trump day he was going to get rid of the deficit during his first term back in the 2016 presidential campaign, though?

It seems he is a few years too late and he does not even seem to be trying anymore to reduce the deficit of the country. Anyways, nobody who paid enough attention to politics thought be was serious on eliminating the deficit and being faithful to his promise.

Trump and Elon Musk are people who have quite different visions of the world and who to manage money, the only thing which unites them is their disgust against wokeism and some political ideas which could be catalogued as socialism or communism, because both are rich, but nothing more beyond that.

As usual, the government of the USA will continue to borrow money indefinitely and continue to life off the trust of people, instead having a positive flow of money. Trump is becoming more a establishment politician as time moves on.

But in another development, Elon Musk also warned that interest rates are eroding the US budget. He openly criticized interest rates and the person who controls interest rates is not Trump but the Fed chairman. This raises suspicions that the conflict between Trump and Elon is just a play and they are trying to blame Powell for deliberately not lowering interest rates even though the CPI indicators all show optimistic signals.
It's hard to  know what's going on , the political game is really complicated and beyond our understanding,  so let's see what happens .

Today, Trump said he's disappointed in Elon for being hostile over leaving his administration and the passing of the big beautiful bill which Elon knew better than everyone else in the room. However, among the four factors that seemed to trigger Musk's anger, no4 happened to be more of an issue to it, because the Tesla CEO wouldn't imagine that Trump his close friend would turn him down on that, but when Trump was asked about it, he said that the man in question is a democrat, and he wouldn't approve of Musk's request.

It's just crazy how this beautiful relationship of two powerful figures fell off, next the both sides will begin to say all the things they've done for each other, Elon just made a tweet recently that Trump wouldn't have won if not for his help.

I thought Donald Trump and Elon Musk had a good friendship, why the rifts between both parties? More reason i dislike politics because it has no permanent friend. A friend of yours can enter into government and begin to enact laws and policies that will affect you and your business. I don't want to wade in on what transpired between Elon and Trump but Elon calling for Trump's impeachment is just like crying over spilled milk. Elon knows that the Trump tariffs will actually affect his business, but he should understand that he isn't the only one that owns a business. I am not a party to Trump's tariffs but who should be blamed? Trump was America's president before he seeks for a second time which means that Americans trusts him that much so whatever be the outcome of his second time, they should all bear the brunt.

until someone actually gets the calculator out to truly work out if trumps 'one big bill' will be net profit or loss. all we are doing at the moment is just hearing media's calculations on if it is profit or loss come september.. where different sides have different results

i dont see a excess/surplus/profit this year. but not a addition to the debt. id say it would roughly break even..

While these 2 might not know how pranks work and that this would make it a believable tweet, i want point out (if this wasn't obvious to someone), that's a a fake screenshot. And what a weird timeline this is when that's actually a something that can be considered as real.
