Well, politics sure is a messy thing and these things are happening. Like what they say, in politics and everything, the only permanent is change.

Thing is, unless you consider everything in life being about politics, this didn't happen because of politics or because of their political careers.

They are acting like they have always been acting and that was about to clash no matter what. Only difference is that they have now more power and they are being watched and subject of news. Trump throwing a tantrum wouldn't be news unless he wasn't a president and basically the leader of republican party. Without it, it would be considered as acting like trump does and he would be in jail already.

And Elon throwing a tantrum would be seen just childish behavior, but because he is responsible both to his shareholders and US citizens, it's damaging behavior and it's news.

I do not think so. If you kill in the name of a God there may be good reason, but none of them are religious. Some of the ones I have observed as probably hypothesis:

a) Person lived in the middle ages.
b) Person is a sociopath that is simply looking for a excuse to kill and harm others.
c) Person gets paid well.
d) Person tells others to do it, so you use it to ciment your power.
e) Person is delusional.
f) Person seeks revenge.

But, there are many more and I am certain none of them are "I believe that I have to kill anyone that does not choose the same God as me". However, there is one that is the firm candidate to be the leading reason in the future:
