~ so for those finding it difficult to translate a local board post or comprehend their language, we can also consider merit worthy posts on bitcoin discussion board, beginners and help economics as the case may applies to other boards.

Every user has their board of interests, if a merit source doesn't want to merit a post from a bitcoin discussion, then it is his/her decision. We can't or should not ask him to do that, so what is the solution is to make someone a merit source from those if we have to reward the contributing posts from that section actively.

But it took years for theymos to accept the new ones so it may take another couple more years before we see some more new sources.

Individuals can circulate or sMerit posts in random boards. It could be in your own local board, foreign local boards or the general boards. As long as you earn those merits with your own efforts on posts. While allocated sMerits to merit sources is specifically for particular boards. That is why every merit source applicants have to indicate their interested board in the application as Merit source then Theymos have to review the necessity of granting the applicants request.

I won't call it favouritism because merit source are made merit source to merit quality posts now the problem is what you may see as quality post won't be seen as quality post by another member or merit source.
Since there's no measure for what can be called or describe as a quality post one can't rightly say that there's favouritism in the way the merit sources are distributing merit, and they where made merit source because they see them as members who knows quality posts.
Yes some times some merit source merit post that is clearly not quality however they always have a reason for it.
The only way we can say merit source are playing favoritism card is when the forum bring out standard of a post that can be called a quality post and they go meriting outside that standard.

Sometimes a post is funny and causes me to laugh if a posts can make me laugh it has some merit.  Simply because we all need to laugh a bit more and be less serious.

Phil has earned the right to do whatever he wants... He's a good guy, his heart is in the right place, and his merit sending habits have never once bothered me.

What does bother me is when merit sources encourage stupid posts by rewarding them with merits... Such posts, like in the megathreads frequented by merit sources, are really just attempts to suck up to said merit sources, and the poster learns how to be a better suckup rather than anything relevant or interesting.

When I see new / new-ish members that have 90% of their posts in these threads, I know the chance they have of actually contributing meaningful dialog to ongoing discussion is very slim. For merit sources, its all about motivation: do you want to help forum members become productive people or do you want to reward them for giving you a nice ball wash?

 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I don't see anywhere he mentioned that the interested board or local board must be present on the merit source application.

Fake newbies. Even though merit sources are free to spend their merits as they wish but if they can scrutinize such users and ignoring them will eliminate the account farming.

Something has been bothering me sometimes now which I have made consultation but could not get convinceable response.
So the things is How does the merit sources pick posts for merits? Do they have bots that specifically identifies those posts like filtering a thread to find worth quality post to merit? Or just hovering around threads in their specified board they are in charge off and then merits randomly according to their own decisions?
I am curious because I see posts that is more qualified for merits but ignored while lower quality posts at being merited or could it also mean there is favouritism in there?

One thing you most understand is that, human viewing are not always the same. However, in your own view you might see a post and merit it due to the fact that you like what the user said, then it might not seems quite interesting for other users to merit easily. That is how it goes, so do not worry yourself too much about a post that you found quality but not merited, once the merit source found them worthy they would definitely do. So there is nothing like favouritism here.

There is no board that is designated for a merit source to spend their source smerit, the reason(s) why most merit sources do specify a particular board when writing their applications is because that is where their area of interest lies most not that they can't send smerit elsewhere. However, i don't know the reasons why users do specify their board of concentration and interests when tendering their applications, they can just tender their applications without specifying a particular board they are interested in.

And yea merit source that does not actively award sMerits from the designated board can be probed.

They basically choose a board of interest on their own and i don't think it's a mandate to spend smerits on a particular board. I believe all merit sources have a local board, they can also give priority there since that is the best way they can help members from their respective countries. All merit sources have the right to spend their source smerit in any board of the forum, there is no rule or law that restrict them.

You are right and I don't really think that people should be that serious over here killing themselves with much wall of text as quality post, and of course I have seen some post with less words (some is even "yes I got it rightly now" or " I clearly understood it") can even earn them merits they didn't expect for one day.
However, people should be that free in releasing their merits than being more strict on where to merits and not.

Mate, Merit source have their own criteria on how they spend their sMerits if that post meet their standards then they will give some deserved amount.
Also we all know that we have different ways on how we understand in a post sometimes for us that post is quality but some people saw that is not Quality enough.

That's not exactly true, you don't have to specify what boards you post on or merit regularly, or where you plan to spend your merits:

If you want to be a merit source:
