bitamp.com  is a website based wallet where you generate a wallet and they give you your 12 word seed phrase you own it only. you then go to the webstie and log into the web site using that seed phrase when you want to do things with your wallet like transfer BTC,  bitamp you cant buy or sell  but can hold and transfer BTC.  very easy to use I learned about it on several youtube videos and WEB articles seems very lefit as one option for BTC wallets.  Anyway I  cant log in anymore with me private 12 word seed  phrase, for months I could but now when I try it gives an error   FAILED to LOG in please try again later....

I have a couple wallets 3 months old or so  with different seed phrases and they all do same error (granted most have $0 BTC in them now) but wanted to maybe reuse and transfer some BTC in that wallet....

for months all you do is type on your secret private 12 word phrase that you have control of and your in, you can do a few basic things like see your balance, transfer in BTC in or out.

anyway last week when I try to do that I get an error   FAILED to LOG in  please try again later  last time it worked that I tried was maybe early May as I recall i did a couple transactions no problem....

(on twitter there is next to no mention of bitamp i which is surprising as almost everything is mentioned on twitter, if you search that term "bitamp"  although I think a couple have reported same problem)

the BTC wallet address is on the blockchain, I can see it on blockchain explorer.    and I do have one bitamp  private seed wallet with a BTC balance and I see the full balance same BTC wallet on the blockchain so its not like they have been taken or moved or anything.  So the balance if $0 or if shows some BTC is all accurate and as it should be. Im sure I can recover somehow. but I like that easy interface at bitamp.   However, I cant log in to use them

so the bitamp developers have not for example somehow gone rouge and stolen all the wallets and BTC at least best I can tell.

anyone confirm on bitamp.com  if they can log in or not using your 12 word seed phrase?

interesting is I made a brand new wallet on bitamp yesterday (super easy to do like talke 10 seconds)  and that is just like normal you can log in and out and in and out not problem

its almost like the slightly older wallets (like 3 months old) I have are not up to date or synced or something. I have done all the clear cache  etc etc stuff.

also they have two email addresses for support.  lol they dont answer them and no live chat or anything.  is this a scam site afterall?  I dont think so but confused on what is going on

please no scammers  I will not go to your secret site and type in my seed phrase and all that scam stuff.   only helpful people!

thanks!

I wouldn't trust a Web wallet like that, but try either https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ (OFFLINE on a system that won't go online again), or download Electrum and check the correct address formats. If it reproduces your addresses, you'll see if your funds are still there.

you mean somehow type in my seed phrase so I can transfer my BTC?  or restore it somehow?

if I try it what would that do for me??  or if i download electrum what do I do then  try to restore my wallet in that wallet?

anyone use bitamp or try to log into it?

I haven't checked the code of this so-called client-side wallet on their Github repo nor did I verify if the repo's code is actually what is delivered when you browse bitamp.com. Personally I wouldn't trust this, as you would have to verify every single time you access this site if the delivered code hasn't turned evil. Oh and the Github code is almost already five years old.

I find it also very very wrong to make users used to enter their mnemonic seed words into an online browser page, even if it were truely client-side only and the site code doesn't do anything nasty. Imagine you have whatnot browser extensions, all likely able to read arbitrary content of your browser's opened pages, including this wallet's page. If you then still believe you're in control of the security of your mnemonic seed words of this wallet, I don't know what to say actually... leaves me speechless, indeed.

My personal opinion: don't use such a web wallet, convenience comes with risks.

or if i download electrum what do I do then  try to restore my wallet in that wallet?

Yes, you can use Electrum or any other reputable wallet that supports the BIP-39 mnemonic seed. Then, try restoring your wallet with your seed phrase to see if that gives you access to your coins.

I guess no high-ranking members here would use that wallet first thing. The thing that gives me a red flag is the login procedure. Look, every time you log in, you need to paste your seed phrase, meaning your backup that's supposed to be private, only used for recovery, and saved offline needs to be reused just for the sake of logging in.
Anyone here knows how risky it is to keep copy-and-pasting our seed phrase to an online device? If you keep doing that, your seed phrase is not safe from online attacks.

That's not how we use the seed phrase; it should be kept offline and far from online devices.

If you believe that you still have a balance from your seed phrase, then, like others said, try Electrum and import the seed phrase.

For the sake of this topic, I tested creating an account on Bitamp with a seed phrase and logging in using the seed phrase to confirm if it generated the same addresses, but it looks like all addresses generated from Bitamp are the same as when I import it to the Electrum seed option BIP39.

So if you still see a balance from your wallet address on block explorer then try to import it to Electrum and send them immediately to a new wallet.

This is why you should never use a web wallet. The wallet service used to advertise here but it appears they became in active over the years in the forum. As advised, just import those seeds to another software wallet such as Electrum.

interesting thanks. so you were actually able (granted with no BTC in it) to use bitamp today,  easily make a new wallet and get your 12 words.  and then import the 12 words into electrum.   and you had an active wallet to look at web addresses, balances, transfer in and out if you wanted to.  but when you made a second one today  you had the exact same BTC wallet addresses from a second 12 digit seed account??  is that what you mean   or something else?

im not an expert do I download electrum as a browser extension  I use a windows PC  these are the choices.. below.   and what is the signatures option?

   Standalone Executable   Signatures
Windows Installer   Signatures
Portable version (security advice)   Signatures

or how do I best get it, is that the huge one that takes half a PC to download?  anyway after you recovered the wallet in electrum  you use the electrum interface to move any coins?  then be ready to move them to a secure BTC address like a ledger address I own or something do it fast?

thanks.  confusing for sure...

Here, I have one for test with dust amount left:

The issue at your end is either your seed phrase is incorrect (wrong word or using the wrong but similar local keyboard characters)
Or a browser issue where one of its core element isn't loading or blocked by something.

For compatibility with other wallets: Its 12-words seed phrase is just a standard BIP39 mnemonic seed and using standard BIP44, BIP49 and BIP84 derivation paths
So it can be restored to any wallet that supports such mnemonic in mostly default configuration.
In Electrum, for example, you can use "Detect Existing Accounts" when asked which script (address) type to derive. (instructions, read the "note" part)

im not an expert do I download electrum as a browser extension  I use a windows PC  these are the choices.. below.   and what is the signatures option?
Any of the two except the portable version which has a note included next to it (read it).
That signature is for verification purposes of the associated binary, if you want to do that for security purposes, you can follow this guide: bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download

I agree with you on importance of verify Electrum wallet download before using it. Having more careful practice can lead to better safety by reducing risk.

Considering the risk of entering your seed phrase on a website as you're used to, verifying Electrum when downloaded from the original site electrum.org wouldn't be my biggest concern. I'd use the Standalone Executable in this case.

I skimmed it and found the source code is suspicious due to these reasons.
1. No guide on how to compile or run it.
2. Since it's web-based, i find it's weird there are only 4 JavaScript file where the filename doesn't indicate it's related with wallet or cryptocurrency operation.

Code:
js/chart.js
js/jquery.arcticmodal.min.js
js/jquery.min.js
js/main.js

3. Looking at js/main.js, it's compressed/minimal JavaScript files which makes it's impossible to understand the code.

thanks Ill look into all of that.   that bitamp wallet that screenshot opened is that one you had for some time or a new one you punched in made new and can log in and out and put some dust in?  reason I Ask is its only my handful of old bitamp wallets 3 months that give me no way to log in, get that error when I try.   a new one I made at bitamp this week, and have a seed just to trouble shoot  I can log in and out of  on my PC at bitamp, my same browser all of that .  would that rule out the concern over core elements of browser the seeds are working and accurate, i have a handful of the seed wallets and all the old ones dont work cant log in, they are all accurate my end its not a type or a seed issue or keyboard not working.    glad you can log in and out thanks for showing me that of course so helpful.   the btc I have in a couple of these bitamp wallets are there, not moved, no activity  i can check the wallets on the blockchain, so I dont think im at risk per say like this is part of some stealing scam situation but until i get them back who knows.

anymore thoughts from anyone appreciated.  learning lots of course

also just to point out if you use a seed address that is not right in login at that site  like on purpose switch 2 words or whatever you get an immediate different error..but if you type in a correct 12 words you get the  failed to sign in...try again later error box.  so im 100% sure the the seeds are correct.....

and if you make a new wallet no problem can log in and log out  (obvioulsy $0 amount).

but all the ones made three months ago and had been used you get the failed to sign in ..  try again  error box.

is there something I read that wallets need to be synced to the blockchain and sometimes they are not?  is that what is going on?  if that is true wont all wallets like electrum have same problem when given the 12 words to restore?  sorry for the simplistic questions.

Ill try the new wallet  electrum soon.

This sounds very much like they've disabled your wallet.

the btc I have in a couple of these bitamp wallets are there, not moved, no activity  i can check the wallets on the blockchain, so I dont think im at risk per say like this is part of some stealing scam situation but until i get them back who knows.
But this is the part that doesn't make sense: if they disabled your wallet with the intention to scam you, your funds would be gone by now.

Ill try the new wallet  electrum soon.
If you do find back your funds, you should probably create a new Electrum wallet (write down your new seed phrase) and send it there. Depending on the amount you may want to consider a more permanent safe solution, like a hardware wallet.

LoyceV might be right; your wallet is blocked or disabled. Another reason might be that the 2 words from your seed are not part of BIP39. Would you mind to try to check these two words to see if they are listed on the BIP39 word list link below.

If it's part of the BIP39, then the problem is directly from Bitamp. Importing your seed to Electrum is the best solution; you shouldn't get any error if the two words are part of the BIP39 wordlist.

The only weird part is if you imported your 3 seeds with no balance, you may be monitoring an incorrect BTC wallet address, and it is not part of any of your 3 wallets. If that's the case, then there's no way to recover the funds from that BTC wallet you're currently monitoring.

that bitamp wallet that screenshot opened is that one you had for some time or a new one you punched in made new and can log in and out and put some dust in?  reason I Ask is its only my handful of old bitamp wallets 3 months that give me no way to log in, get that error when I try.
It's way older than 3 months, more than a year even.
It also has transactions so we can rule out the possibility of the login error being exclusive to funded wallets.

(DD-MM-YYY)

is there something I read that wallets need to be synced to the blockchain and sometimes they are not?  is that what is going on?
That is only related to the displayed transactions and balance, not something that can cause login issue.

anymore thoughts from anyone appreciated.  learning lots of course
I'm thinking of pointing you to their alleged GitHub open-source repository but it doesn't include the "back-end" source, just the front-end HTML, CSS and JS.
You'll never know what other "features" they have in their wallet.

And the main problem is, it looks like abandoned with its latest commit dated 5 years ago.
It looks like they just released the code and website, then they're done with it except for maintaining the server.

Ill try the new wallet  electrum soon.
That should work.

This means that the site is no longer secure (at least I wouldn't use it since the first year, except for testing purposes). The OP mentions having several BIP39 seeds created more than 3 months ago, so there's a 99% chance the flaw is in Bitamp's code/wallet.

OP, you were very lucky not to get been robbed so far. I know this site, I tried it and found it to be a "good wallet"(resourses/features). It even has segwit bech32 and we can switch address scripts whenever we want in the same wallet. The only negative points that make me not approve or recommend its use are:

- Web-based wallet, highly risky
- Requires the user to enter the wallet seed, instead of another type of authentication, such as a password, something normal in 99% of services/wallets. We usually use our seed in two moments: during wallet creation or recovery.
- Outdated code, no support, etc.

Entering your seed when authenticating makes it increasingly vulnerable. A malicious extension scanning for BIP39 words could steal it anytime!

In any online environment, we should always assume that our PC is infected, as we can never be 100% sure whether you have malware/spyware installed on your machine.

I won't go into too much detail, as this post is already full of tips and suggestions from other users. If I were you, I'd simply test each seed created in this service in my Electrum or Sparrow wallet, and when I get the amout of all of them after each sync, I'd create a new Electrum or BIP39 wallet, make sure to create a backup, and move the funds to my new wallet.
