As we have growing number of newbies coming into our local board and from Nigeria at large, i come see say the need to create a topic as regards to p2p privacy consciousness become highly important for us to start a topics like this, since we know how the hustle for privacy and to avoid p2p/governments problems and the safety of our bitcoin assets, as we all are aware about the cryptocurrency climb down in Nigeria and how political it has become to holdin recent years.

For over a long period of time, in the crypto space, we, I have experienced alot as regards to how best to exchange our bitcoin assets into Naira, best form of p2p is through physical contact but yes that comes with it own security dangers, so online p2p platforms like remitano which seems to be one of the oldest means of carrying out p2p transactions online happens to be the most less demanding in terms of kyc demands to carry out a p2p transactions on their platform, most especially for the small transactions up to $1000.

I also know that, there are others who have similar privacy enhancing kyc procedure as p2p exchange, but i decided to mentioned only remitano, but you all are free to add your best privacy enhance p2p exchange in Nigeria, at least for a forum newbies, since what you require to exchange your naira to dollar's is just an email/phone verifications for level1 accounts,it sound privacy enhancing enough for p2p to be recommended for forum newbies not to expose entities all in the name of trying to carry out p2p transactions.

Please drop your contributions and recommendations on the best privacy enhancing cryptocurrency p2p platform in Nigeria/Africa, in this thread.

In as much as sounds much more better and more private for remitano to accept only email address during kyc(I am not sure because I haven't used it before) but I can't trust my asset with this exchange you made mentioned because I have heard terrible things about them, like setting minimum deposit of Bitcoin at $33 plus, any deposits below that figure is lost forever, that's alone is a massive turn off to me, why would an exchange set it minimum deposit of Bitcoin that high if they don't have an evil intention?

Going back to the topic, privacy is key actually, but take note that their are some activities by an exchange that will even cost you more than the proper kyc you are avoiding. The most important thing is that they wouldn't share it with any third party, that's the major reason I love binance till today, they stood their ground and refuse to bow to pressure from the Nigerian government, so what am trying to say is that their are some activities by most of these exchange that it would be better you do your kyc in most recognize and reliable exchange than going for exchange like remitano that might cost you with some of their activities.
But in my own opinion, if you truly want to avoid kyc, it's better you use a decentralized exchange instead.

Your comment is more focused on exchange, which means you deviated from this topic a bit, since the topic is focused around p2p transactions on Nigeria, that is a means you exchange your digital assets like bitcoin etc to Nigeria naira, i am not talking about your coins storage or trading one digital assets bitcoin, to other alternatives cryptocurrency coins.

Just like you mentioned you havent used that p2p exchange before, so you may not have clear understanding on this topics, but i am sure we have some members around that have more knowledge about this one oldest p2p naira exchange.

Note: this thread is just for discussion and not in any way advising to use the exchange, please do your own research as always.

It's true that I deviate a little bit, but take note that it's still through  the exchange you transact p2p, so it's unwise to ignore every other red flag entirely just because of one green flag.

what I meant was that I haven't used p2p services in Remitano before, but I constantly use p2p services in bybit and bitget, so have a clear idea how p2p is being done.

Please drop your contributions and recommendations on the best privacy enhancing cryptocurrency p2p platform in Nigeria/Africa, in this thread.
Not all cryptocurrency exchange p2p platform are trustworthy even if you haven't encountered any problems but you can refer someone else and they get scammed from same platform. Except anyone upon their own personal request for people to suggest for them, i don't think it is necessary to advice or tell any newbie on which Crypto p2p platform that is best to use. Anything p2p exchange platforms cannot be 100% trusted as there are scammers in all p2p platforms. Moreover, there is nothing like privacy in centralized exchanges even if they guarantee you privacy. Inasmuch as KYC is involved in a exchange platform, even if they require the least KYC document that may not reveal your personal details, it still doesn't guarantee privacy. Shey when you want to perform a p2p transaction it will require your account number which can reveal your account details such as your full name, where is the privacy now?

However, it seems you are promoting the Remitano crypto p2p exchange which means that anyone can use it and get scammed and can make a reference that you were the one that recommended it. You know what i mean already, they can shift the blame on you. Roll Eyes

since what you require to exchange your naira to dollar's is just an email verifications, it sound privacy enhancing enough for p2p to be recommended for forum newbies not to expose entities all in the name of trying to carry out p2p transactions.
I guess you are wrong on what you just started above regarding only Gmail verification that is needed to enable you have access to it's p2p feature, because I have been an active Remitano user for more than 5yrs now, and I just checked it's different verification levels, and noticed that the least level, which happens to be "Level 1", the requirements that you need to enable you have access to it's p2p is not only Gmail, but also a phone number verification as shown below in the image. Whereby you will only be allowed to buy just only 75 USD,  withdraw coin worth just only 100 USD within 24hrs and deposit unlimited amount.

Whereas for Level 2, these are the benefits you can enjoy while using Remitano, as it requires documents for verifications.

How about Telegram? The last time that I used it, I was able to buy and sell bitcoin without any verification. They have your phone number which you used to register which means there is phone number verification. You can see unfavourable ads but which you can easily avoid. It has been a year or so that I used Telegram P2P, so I do not know if it is still like this. But it is worth knowing that if you want to create an as on Telegram P2P, you will need ID document verification. If you do not want to create and but you just want to buy and sell bitcoin from people that have ads there, no need for any verification than the phone number that you used to register on Telegram. Do not leave your coins there. Make sure you withdraw your coins to a noncustodial wallet.

Can you create ad on Remitano? Only phone number is enough to created it? I have used Remitano before and I do not like their P2P service but maybe they have changed now.

One of the exchanges that I liked in the past is Holdhold that requires not more than your email but Nigerians are no more there. As of now, I saw only one unfavourable sell ad there are no buying ad. Maybe Nigerians do not like no-KYC exchanges. The exchange  is still working good but Nigerians are not there. If there are more Nigerians there, more people with good rates will come, unlike how it is now.

What I have noticed is that most Nigerians are using KYC exchanges for P2P. This is based on what some people have posted on this forum and from I noticed from people.

@Futurexxx
What I noticed about decentralized exchanges is what I have already posted about Hodlhodl which is one of the decentralized exchanges that I know. Also you will noticed this on Bisq.network and Robosats which are better for privacy. I also noticed it on Peach bitcoin wallet.

About the $33, I think you means 0.0005 BTC as the minimum deposit on Remitano. I think I have see some people complained about it before. Also on OKX which is not available for Nigerians again.

I totally agree and feel that if you look at the threats to our privacy, it is not only from the outside but also we ourselves carelessly contribute towards the same. If Remitano has an advantage of P2P transactions with little KYC then that doesn’t mean they are insulated from external pressure or hacking. Every system should not be something you can be perfectly comfortable with. It’s not so that you should be paranoid about it but you should follow the principal that whatever information you are providing in the present time, it could be the tool to keep you very long time future.

There are many instances when you yourself were verifying mail and suddenly people unknowingly submit the official documents because the site’s policy is changed. Leave your money always accessible and don’t make it depend on institutions who can change their mind at any point in time. Offer alternatives, create your own private network and always determine what comes out of your device. In a digital world that continues to broaden by the day, we cannot only sit there as passive users but we have to make ourselves our own gatekeepers.

Just to add some few things to what you have already said; KYC level 1 users on Remitano can not create ads they're only allowed to trade at 1% charge. Yellow card is another easy-to-use interface and Naira account supported p2p recommended for newbies

Small transactions: Remitano and Yellow card are recommended.

Big transactions: Bybit zero fees is better.

Their exchange, their Rules - just the same way they have a static BTC gas fees at $30+ . The minium deposit of BTC was increased to $40 recently.

Small transactions: Remitano and Yellow card are recommended.
Big transactions: Bybit zero fees is better.
If it comes to KYC, there are many of them that you can easily trade small amount of money. It is not easy to find on Bybit but it is also there. Bybit has been the worst to convert low amount but it is still there. On others that I know, you can easily find it while some allow you to go for express and some display it easily in a way you do not have to scroll down too much. I know that Bybit is the opposite of this but you can also find such ads after you scroll down very well. Other exchanges are not like Bybit as you can still easily trade small amount of money. There are some of them with zero fee also.

Their exchange, their Rules - just the same way they have a static BTC gas fees at $30+ . The minium deposit of BTC was increased to $40 recently.
$40 is too much. Most exchanges are having far lower minimum deposit. Some people do make mistake and have to contact customer support which can be frustrating. On exchanges like OKX, I know someone that their money were stolen by the exchange like this. I do not have people that is using Remitano. If bitcoin increase more, it is likely they will increase it. Having equivalent of ₦70000 as the minimum deposit is too much is my opinion.

What do you mean as bitcoin static gas fee? I guess you are referring to the exchange.

A member of this community lost his Full member payment on Remitano when the deposit minimum was increased; his Remitano BTC wallet was his signature campaign payment addesss and as usual he got paid $40 in BTC but before the it could confirmed in the block, BTC price was already down abit and he got $39 deposited on Remitano and the coins were lost since the system allowed only minium deposit of $40 ( he claimed he had no idea when the minimum deposit was changed from $20 to $40. That was how he lost his deposit.

I don't know what they wants to achieve with that much minimum deposit.

"Static BTC fees* was referring to their BTC withdrawal fees - they charged more than every exchanges I know ( $30+ fixed withdrawal fees)

Remitano is what I have not seen much people on, however isn't an appropriate thing for an exchange to alerts there users if they intend to increase there deposit minimum knowing fully well that the previous minimum is what people had in mind and as such will never think of checking on it regularly if there has been changed, actually I think they are only the ones that does this because the few exchanges I no doesn't tamper with their minimum deposit.

However they would definitely never going to achieve anything from there new minimum deposit because already they would loss the trust of those already affected by there on notified policy of increasing deposit, perhaps too much users are giving them overconfident in regulating a least amount someone should put on there platform.

since what you require to exchange your naira to dollar's is just an email verifications, it sound privacy enhancing enough for p2p to be recommended for forum newbies not to expose entities all in the name of trying to carry out p2p transactions.
Remitano is a good option for newbies, but certainly not the best. As the holder of the highest verification level with Remitano, I don't see what they offer that the major exchanges don't. I could remember that I was compelled to verify my account due to the restrictions on the money I could transact on their P2P. Their average limits on deposits/withdrawals on various crypto assets are also on the high end when compared with other major exchanges. That was what forced me to Binance then, and I tell you, I did not miss Remitano till today. It has been about 7 years now.

I can't forget about their pricing either. Their prices are not as fair as those of the major exchanges. You can imagine the amounts in thousands of Naira you have to let go of if you are transacting a reasonable amount.

They usually send email notifications to customers prior to any changes but our habits of having multiple email addresses and not regularly checking our mail is a cultural problem in Nigeria.

Remitano is a good option for newbies, but certainly not the best. As the holder of the highest verification level with Remitano, i don't see what they offer that the major exchanges don't.

More level of privacy- allowed you to trade as much as $75 without ID verification - Other exchanges don't give such privileges.

I don't know what they wants to achieve with that much minimum deposit.

"Static BTC fees* was referring to their BTC withdrawal fees - they charged more than every exchanges I know ( $30+ fixed withdrawal fees)

Irrespective of other good features this exchange has to make one want to use them, I won’t even bother having one because of their static withdrawal fees which is too big when making withdrawal for a low income earner in BTC. Also their minimum deposit is way too big for a low income earner in Bitcoin, it may even discourage them from been paid in BTC if this was the only exchange option they have to receive pay or the one they trust more than others in terms of other features they have that can lure one to use them. I have not use them before but with this minimum deposit amount on bitcoin and high withdrawal fees, I won’t bother opening an account with them.

I No Longer Trade P2P. Be warned!

Best way to remove your small amount BTC to avoid paying outrageous gas fees is swapping it to shitcoins or direct p2p to fiat.

Woah! a whole 40$ minimum deposit, this is really bogus and i think this is the first of any exchange with such high rate of minimum deposit. I think I know of kucoin to be around 20-22$ base on the current price of Bitcoin now but raising it up to 40$ is just too high and this particular fate that this person experience might be something so many of their users must have experience because so many people out there might have being using the exchange thinking it's still the same or maybe missed out on their update message that's if they actually sent for people to be aware of the increment.

Remitano is a good option for newbies, but certainly not the best. As the holder of the highest verification level with Remitano, i don't see what they offer that the major exchanges don't.

More level of privacy- allowed you to trade as much as $75 without ID verification - Other exchanges don't give such privileges.
I've heard a few mention privacy here, just because Remitano allows you to transact a few bucks in P2P. However, in reality, there is no such thing as privacy anymore when conducting a P2P transaction that involves your bank account. The $75 is a mere limit that can help you avoid the KYC and data leak.

This didn't start with crypto, well-regulated financial services in fiat do that. And some can be as high as $300 or more, depending on your country.

At least the third party ( exchange) has no real data of you, it's just between the seller and the buyer exposing themselves. Still some level of privacy since you can achieve that with stolen emails and phone number/ bought numbers

Because you already given them 98% of your personal information during registration ( BVN, phone number, Names, house address and a static photograph)

You get the point perfectly my man, my focus on this topic is majorly on the abilities of small Bitcoin holders who are mostly newbies who are looking for just a wallet to use, for p2p and other crypto transactions with the possibility of zero KYC, the level 1 which one can easily achieve such verification 100% anonymously since all required data can be generated third party.

Unlike other KYC levels where personal documents and data like BVN etc are required.
