On May 29, 2025, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned Funnull Technology Inc., a Philippines-based technology firm, and its administrator, Liu Lizhi, for their roles in facilitating cryptocurrency investment scams, commonly known as “pig butchering.” Funnull’s scams have defrauded U.S. victims of more than $200 million since its inception.

In its designation, OFAC listed two cryptocurrency addresses associated with Funnell Technology Inc. on its Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) also issued an advisory, which includes technical details such as infrastructure and IP addresses used by Funnull’s operations.

Pano in take nila sa part nato, parang mag invest yung mga tao sa mga baboy pero not physically nila ito makikita like just the normal form of investment or they will get acquired with the pig itself talaga like sa mga farm, kasi pwede both same case scenario eh. Corruption issue starting to affect tax collection growth: DOF chief

The Department of Justice has seized about $15 billion worth of bitcoin
 held in cryptocurrency wallets owned by a man who oversaw a massive “pig butchering” fraud operation based in Cambodia, prosecutors said Tuesday.

The seizure is the largest forfeiture action sought by the DOJ in history.

An indictment charging the alleged pig butcher, Chen Zhi, with wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy was unsealed Tuesday in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

Hindi sila nahuli dito sa Pinas, pero sa ibang bansa huli sila. Dito yata naka-base yung operation nila. Great job yung government nila, sana ganun din dito, kasi sa Pinas parang wala pa talagang nahuhuli na ganyang kaso.

Sana nga tapos na yan, medyo malaki rin talaga yung nakuha sa kanila... imagine, $15 billion worth of bitcoins, ang laki ng network na hawak nila. Wala ka na talagang aasahan dito sa bansa natin, buti pa sa ibang bansa, pursigido silang sugpuin ang mga ganitong scams. Yan siguro ang biggest scam na nahuli ngayong taon, though hindi ako sure kung may mas malaki pa.
