Yes I Memorized My Seeds

Of course I have them backed up as well.  

All the typical ways.  But my PRIMARY way is my memory.

Anyway, this is how I did it. (I'll use a 12 word seed as an example, but I actually did it with a 24 word seed phrase as well.  It's a bit harder, but I used the same system I outline below, modified for 24 instead of 12 words).

FIRST, I wrote them down (of course).  Tried to repeat them back.  Failed of course.

Then I split them into three four-word groups.  Wrote each group on a notecard.  I concentrated on learning the first group of four. Once I could recite those four words back, I went on to the second group. And the third.

Woke up the next morning, could only remember the first group.  Repeated the exercise.  Over and over.

Finally, when I had burned all three groups into my memory to my satisfaction, I made a new set of three cards.  This time with only the first letter of each word.  So, each card had only four letters.  This enabled me to further burn the words, with repitition, into my memory.

I tried repeating (in my head) the full seed every morning upon waking.  If I failed, I consulted the cards with only letters.  If I still failed, I went to the cards with the full words.  

Eventually I really no longer needed the card with the words.  So I burned those, and created a single card with three letters, the first letter of the first word of each group.  

I went on, repeating (in my head) the full seed every morning upon waking.  If I failed, I consulted the single card with only three letters.  If I still failed, I went to the three cards with the four letters each.  

Rinse and repeat.

Eventually I no longer needed the three cards with four letters each.  I burned those.  At that point I only needed the single card with three letters, the first letter of the first word of each group.

I still repeat my seed phrases in my head every morning when i wake up, it's a fun little ritual I have.  And havent had to look at that single card for a loooong time.  Eventually I burned it too.

Anyway, that's how I did it.

You are giving yourself too much work and stressing your brain at the same time. It's a bad practice for you to memorize your seed phrase because if there's any accident that affects you head, you might lose your memory and your seed phrase is gone likewise your funds.

The best way is to write down your seed phrase on a metal steel or on a paper and make three duplicates of it and store them in three different locations far from each other. I hope that you haven't burnt your seed phrase backup which you wrote down on paper like you said.

Come on, at least read the post before commenting.  Don't just read the title and then type a knee-jerk response.  You didn't even make it to the second sentence

I agree with Ruttoshi here: you did well, but there are other ways around it too, the ones that don't require such computing power from you and your memory.

12 word seed phrase is safe also. Why going for 24 words? You may later forget the seed phrasenwhen you do not recite it again every morning.

I can advise someone to memorize a 12 words seed phrase but not to fully rely on it but makes it the third or fourth backup. That means 2 or 3 backups must be stored offline in different locations.

If I understand you, you created this topic to show people your experiment on how to effectively manage to memorize a wallet seed phrase, maybe others can try it and use it for future purposes, or to serve as an alternative?
No, that's something I would have done years ago, and I can remember how I easily memorized huge strings of words then, when kids are not involved, but not anymore.

To be honest, it's an interesting experiment
I'm sure there may be people in the world who need or will need to have the 12 words of a seed memorized to protect themselves from something, to change country and not be able to risk writing it down somewhere and someone discover the seed
I've never tried it but I think I'd be able to memorize my seed in a similar way or with the help of some music, for example.

Imagine that someone is in a risky situation and needs to cross a border, the best way to have a btc wallet would be to memorize a seed, so they would be offline and out of risk

24 seedphrase is too stressful to me, I'd rather memorise a 12 word seedphrase and add a passphrase to improve security.

If you want to punish yourself, reciting the seed phrase every morning, evening and night, go on, it's your own cup of tea. However, my advice is that, while you do this, also write down the seed phrase and keep it somewhere very safe. Do not depend solely on your brain as a backup because you may have an accident or sickness that could lead to memory loss and eventually lost of your funds.

I have a cold storage and hot wallet which makes it very difficult for anyone only be memorizing seed phrase as if it's important. It's good that you have already written it down and I believe that's the PRIMARY. Memorizing is secondary because it's a matter of choice.

this is wired and one of the funniest post I've ever seen today, do you necessarily need to give yourself that kind of work? Well I don't think that would last in your Brain maybe you probably don't have much work to do. But when you have much to do I assure you that you wouldn't remember any of that. But if that is what pleases you then fine. Keeping seed phrase is very important, either you keep it in a crypto steel capsule, in a written paper, or stamped in a metallic plate to work as a fire and water proof, to enable us not to lose access to our wallet. But memorizing it is out of the box. But if it's easy for you then no problem.

If you want to find someone who will advocate seed memorization idea, it's me. Lots of people here vouch against this idea and I completely understand that but I like it because no one steal it from your mind, it's the safest place in the world but in your case, to be completely frank, it was a bad idea to remember 24 words seed phrase because 24 words is just too much and it's also unnecessary. If you are afraid of attack, keep in mind that 12 and 24 words are both equally safe, so, just focus on 12 words if you really plan to stick with memorizing it. The risks of forgetting 24 words doesn't outweigh the cons of 12 words because both are simply uncrackable right now.

The idea of memorising your seed phrase is not entirely bad, but it is just too stressful. I don't think I can even successfully memorise mine. Kudos to you, OP, for this effort because it is not easy. I like the fact that you still have your seed phrase backed up and it's not like you're going to be relying on only one means of backup.

For those talking about the risks of brain memory backup, they should not ignore the fact that some unforeseen circumstances, natural disasters, or even theft can make one lose the seed phrase they've written down or even stored in a supposedly safe place. The best we can do is to have multiple backup options. OP has done it for himself; we should applaud him.

I can't do such a thing, because that's me for you, not that I don't have the ability of reciting them from my head, but because I don't see a need to stressing my brain everyday doing this, when there are alternative means to safely secure these seed phrase, though I respect each individual's decision because they have rights to make their choice, but as for me, it's not a good idea to take, I have a lot I have to think with my head than making unnecessary recitation when I have other options as alternatives, remember we lose out memory sometimes and humanbeings are bound to forgetfulness.
