A. So that its relatively indestructible in case of Fire or flood and that it is not readily accessible
by anyone else.

The upside of this is that if you needed to retrieve your wallet and didnt have access to your physical
words you always have them with you in your memory.

In case you were lets say on holidays, didnt have your metal seed plate with you ^obviously
and were in need of emergency finances at a difficult time for any number of reasons.


I want to add that memorising the seed phrase like the OP can only benefit our
brain and make it healthier and stronger - which adds longevity it our memory especially
as we get older. Another reason so to commit our seeds to memory!

Why did you choose 24 words instead of 12 words? If I were you, I would focus on 12 words and would move on 24 words when the risk of future breakthroughs and other types of attacks increases. At the moment 12 words is as safe as 24 for the current technology. To be fair, I suggest to not depend on your memory but since it's your choice and you plan to do it, then I'd suggest you to change your mind and stick with 12 words. 12 words is more likely possible to my mind because it's not much but 24 words are too much. If you are confident in your brain, then do as you wish but be very careful if you plan to save your every Bitcoin there.

Ahh I know this memorization method and that was taught when I was in elementary school, and it was indeed effective. I must admit that I wrote down some phrases and read them every time before and after waking up, when I was going to take a shower, I was even taught to memorize vocabulary in various Arabic and English languages ​​at that time. If you have one than one wallet, you will realize the stress it takes to memories l the phrase in your head, although everyone have their abilities and limitations but it's actually a risk though to memorize your 24 wallet phrase without having it backed up offline. The human brain does not work like computer where you can have an Information stored for decades and you can get the information anytime you wan, humans can forget due to pressure, anxiety, trauma and for your wallet phrase, if you forget one phrase, you might lose your asset, except you brute force the phrase, which is going to cost you some money to do so. Always have an offline backup phrase.

All the typical ways.  But my PRIMARY way is my memory.

Anyway, this is how I did it. (I'll use a 12 word seed as an example, but I actually did it with a 24 word seed phrase as well.  It's a bit harder, but I used the same system I outline below, modified for 24 instead of 12 words).

FIRST, I wrote them down (of course).  Tried to repeat them back.  Failed of course.

Then I split them into three four-word groups.  Wrote each group on a notecard.  I concentrated on learning the first group of four. Once I could recite those four words back, I went on to the second group. And the third.

Woke up the next morning, could only remember the first group.  Repeated the exercise.  Over and over.

Finally, when I had burned all three groups into my memory to my satisfaction, I made a new set of three cards.  This time with only the first letter of each word.  So, each card had only four letters.  This enabled me to further burn the words, with repitition, into my memory.

I tried repeating (in my head) the full seed every morning upon waking.  If I failed, I consulted the cards with only letters.  If I still failed, I went to the cards with the full words.  

Eventually I really no longer needed the card with the words.  So I burned those, and created a single card with three letters, the first letter of the first word of each group.  

I went on, repeating (in my head) the full seed every morning upon waking.  If I failed, I consulted the single card with only three letters.  If I still failed, I went to the three cards with the four letters each.  

Rinse and repeat.

Eventually I no longer needed the three cards with four letters each.  I burned those.  At that point I only needed the single card with three letters, the first letter of the first word of each group.

Whoever reads that post will think you're sitting on millions lol, Brother, you don't have to bend yourself backwards and do backflips, just grab a book(or books) no one would open in your house, write the mnemonics, (page 1: Apple, Page 2: Banana, etc.etc.)

Personally i do the 3-Rule, Mnemonics in my wallet, Mnemonics on a USB between hundreds of USB sticks i have, Mnemonics on a still object inside of my house, In case i lose my wallet/get robbed, i have a USB stick with my mnemonics, i go and withdraw them to a different wallet, In case my USB stick gets lost, i have a still piece of furniture that nobody touches, hid a paper in, where my mnemonics are yet again, i could do this tirelessly, no need to give my brain a stroke.

Just giving my two cents, that's your best option.

I'm on the team that think it's not worth to spend the time memorizing the seed and opens up a new attack vector that weakens plausible deniability in case of wrench attacks too
but for those interested in memorizing hard things, like let's say 12 or 24 words in a list

Congratulations on successfully memorizing your seed phrase. That way, your current safe is truly in your own mind or head. And it's the safest place to store it. But I personally have actually been doing it since last year. Initially I didn't intend to memorize my own wallet seed phrase but then I was inspired by the words of an investor and influencer who said that he could go to any country with his valuable assets without fear of being stolen by other people. And what he meant was that he had also succeeded in memorizing his seed phrase. then I get inspired too and within a few days or weeks I forget the details. but yeah I also managed to memorize it. And I still often repeat it in my head to this day. Although not always every morning after waking up. But usually I repeat my memories more often when I go to sleep. And I'm sure here or many members of this forum have also succeeded in doing it.

And my advice in memorizing seed phrases will be easier to remember if we repeat them just before we sleep. I even repeated it until I fell asleep at that time. Just like when we count sheep in our heads so we can sleep.

I can't see any reason to memorize the seed phrase. Many times it is better to save hardware or computer files than memorizing so many words can be wrong. Because when a new wallet is created, 12/24 Seed phrase is given in the wrongly, so it becomes very difficult to memorize. Although all individuals have multiple accounts, the Seed Phrase/Private Key should be kept very carefully because people forget about it often. No work should be done in a neglect.

It’s cool that you can remember them, very impressive in reality but don’t rely on your memory forever. I know you said you have backups but please make sure you do not rely on your memory long term. Life comes at us fast, you could suffer memory loss in old age. Our memory is not reliable enough.

Yeah, I called it cramming because he had to put himself under that much pressure to get those words into his head within a very short duration. He has obviously tried, but it’s really not worth it since there are other backups. I just consider this a fun thing to do and nothing really serious.

Honestly, 24 words doesn't make that much difference, at least for me, a bitcoin private key has 128 bits of entropy, the same goes for a 12-word mnemonic seed (]the electrum seed has 132 bits). In other words, if this entropy number is broken one day, not only bitcoin, but also banking and legal security systems are screwed.

12-word seed phrases provide you with 128 bits of entropy. 24-word seed phrases give you 256 bits on entropy. It's easy to see that the security is greater with the latter. However, bitcoin private keys only have 128 bits of entropy. If those ever become vulnerable, Bitcoin is already doomed to fail despite some wallets providing 256 bits on entropy. 

In addition, we can extend the mnemonic phrase with a passphrase and exponentially increase the entropy level.

Coming back to the topic of memorizing seeds, we know that it's risky to memorize seeds due to the inherent risks involved, but as long as physical backups aren't neglected or left aside, I don't see a problem in trying to memorize them, since you can restore your wallets anywhere in the world, and you still have your physical backups whenever you need them.

I won't even trust my own brain to remember my seed phrase, there's just so many things that can make this go wrong from brain disease to alzheimer, etc. Even dementia can be a problem.

I just put my seed phrase on paper and metal plate while also calling it a day.

A fool proof method and the only concern is just how you store it.

Each person will have their way to secure their seed and @OP choose that. So congratulate to you @OP. You did that way and I hope you will always remember your seed. But it is better you have a back up for your seed and not just memorize it.

But I wonder how long you can remember that? How about 10 years later? Do you still remember it? I hope you can so you need a back up for that.

Sure, you're free to do it your way, but keep in mind that the human brain is pretty fragile. The worst part is that things can go wrong with it suddenly and without warning. That’s why you might want to consider the bringing to bear the method I’ve developed for the long-term digital information storage, including SEEDs. It could be a better alternative than "raping" your brain every morning trying to hammer in SEED phrase into your memory.

This is a good way because any form of minimizing loss is of course a good thing regardless of the pros and cons in it as long as you feel safe with it then I think it's fine.
The most important thing in this case is that there must still be a back up that must exist or be written down because the memory factor is sometimes quite risky for forgetfulness so when there is writing and coupled with the memory of the phrase fund then of course it is even better.
I personally don't remember the seed phrase 12 or 24 but I wrote it down because for me writing it down is enough but if other people do both of course it is very good and I appreciate this.

I'm not saying this is a bad method because some people still have better memories than most but honestly it has more disadvantages than advantages when compared to other methods. So I don't like this method and don't recommend anyone to use this method.

By the way, I want to ask, since you only have 1 wallet and you only need to remember one seed phrase, but what if you have 2 or more wallets?  Have you thought about that?

Sooner or later our memory will fail us, I remember Arnold S. saying that, that's why he always write everything down, on what he eat and how much he lift and how heavy he is. And it's gong to be true here, because sooner or later, if something went wrong and you can't recall, everything will be f**k up and you can't recover your seed.

So good luck with this strategy, maybe majority here will not agree with you with this method. With that, it's better to just write it down, back it up and hide it in place that no one can go except you or some of your family members in cases something happen to you.
