I tried searching for the best gambling stories and the ones that popped up were full of gambling recoveries. A lot of them highlighted of how gambling ruined their life but for some reason, usually one involving religion, they got better. I was expecting more of stories where a gambler won a significant amount. Extreme lucky kind of stories.

It got me thinking whether people think that gambling success stories can only be if you recover from gambling? Is that really the end goal? To rid of gambling as an activity?

There are couple of reasons why you don't hear as much winners stories as much as people having gambling problems.

One of them is that there's just so few people that made big wins. That's just statistics.

Other reason is because we are taught to believe that getting rich is always somehow earned by hard work or skills, so tragedy, failure and losing all the winnings appeals to us as moral story when it comes to gambling, even though according to according to studies, most big winners are doing just fine.

Weirdly that's not a good selling point for stories, as that narrative (money gives you happiness) doesn't give us the moral closure we believe in. It just creates envy.

If gambling has ruined your life, why not just accept and quit? They don't quit, that's the problem. If you use 6 months to gamble and you don't make back the money of more than the amount you have wager in the last 6 months, you don't need to continue gambling, it's easy to stop unless you are been fantasize by the winning other gamblers post meanwhile your strategy of gambling is different from the way other people making money are gambling.

The thing about most of this testimony, they are fake and not real, you will see people edit another person slip and post on media just to attract people and feel among that he is a good gambler and probably will want to used that to be an influencer, they do it a lot of X formerly Twitter where you see people edit others gamblers win just to boost their ego, the reality is they don't win anything just pretense and pretense until they are been caught by one smart Follower.

They is a saying that says “people always discuss about the negative side of the event and hide the positive side”, which is the same thing that applies to gambling win, many people tend to hide their success on gambling unless something bad happens to them after the win, that is when they will talk about the bad encounter. So in most cases you will not see people discussing about their wins which I think in some reason it because they are doing it base on security or other factors, but to me, I don’t think it all about getting rid of gambling.

Although many people that hit a big jackpot and in some cases they might get addicted in the process of going after their loses, and that is one of the reasons why most people feel discouraged in gambling in some cases.

Let me personalise this event, what I consider as a gambling success story is something that I can point to being my ability to such thing out of gambling.

This is exactly my definition of success. I have always been an advocate of responsible gambling, both while gambling and after gambling. Just winning the money is not enough. What if you win and then lose the money immediately through scams or you get robbed? Is that still a successful experience?

I like it when gamblers show signs of responsibility when a huge amount of money enters their hands. They invest, buy assets, or do something tangible with it so they will always remember that very day, instead of squandering everything in a very short while. Agree. Success means winning the game with a good end. If it ends up with bad thing, it can't be categorized as a success. A gambler who can't use their wining prizes in proper way, I assume he isn't a part of a success gambler. Sure, they may enjoy it temporarily but I am sure they will regret it in the long run if they only waste the winning prizes to useless things.

This one is indeed a success story, which is not like substituting addiction. Instead, the person who was in debt was lucky enough to hit a jackpot with little winning, which was used to clear up that debt, but such a type of story is rare. Like you have pointed out, the percentage to be really small, and the gambler made good use of the money which was won and did not end up being too greedy to chase more winning, which could have led to wasting that money again back to where it came from.

I guess this happens very rarely. That person was probably lucky, a real lucky one. But I think there are so few people who can win 30,000 euros from just three euros that the odds are probably one in several million. Well, this is already a success story, and it will inspire people who might want to play sometimes for a few dollars to win a big prize. And if you play a few days a week for 3 dollars, it doesn’t seem like that much.

That’s a wild story — turning €3 into €30,000 and clearing debt? Definitely a success, even if it's super rare. Not something to count on, but when luck hits, it can really change things.

Gambling winnings could be able to solve out things like be able to pay up debts, buying something that you do want or even that would be able to changed up your life forever depending on the significance of the amount that have won. If you do know on how to make use of those winnings on the right way or even lets say that you had paid off your debt in regardless of the amount that you have won. As long you do able to make use of those winnings on something that you do benefit out then thats the right decision that you have done. Success stories are possible but we do all know that losers are more than with those winners on which this is where we should be that careful on dealing up with it. It usually seems like gambling stories are mere recovery testimonials but in reality I have meet someone who is so successful in my opinion through gambling, infact sport betting specifically. I usually used to underestimate this man for being so passionate trying to get a big hit from spot betting but after all that happened I realised I shouldn't judge anyone. I once said in my post in another thread, that the absolute victory for a gambler is when they successfully stop gambling. Although we discuss gambling and we know the gambling industry, the fact is that not many people can beat the bookies. Honestly, I don't really like or even dislike slot gambling. Many of my friends have their futures and families destroyed because of slot gambling, especially from online sites. About sports betting and cards, I don't know how to judge it, but some of my friends play sports betting because they are sports fans and some play poker because they really like cards. But most of them agree that when someone can successfully stop gambling, then it is a big win and they will celebrate it. I think they are wise enough in dealing with this problem.
