Why some newbies lose interest in the bitcoinforum so easily.

  My greetings to everyone, I don't know if am in any position to say this but seriously speaking I wanted to know all of your opinions on this topic ,so recently I have been studying the forum and doing my best to know more about bitcion both in and outside the forum and while I was doing that I notice that there are some inactive newbie accounts. Some with a lot of post but no merits, while some have been tagged as ai spammers or plagiarism. I figured out most of them hardly understand the bitcoin forum. Many newbies gives up so easily on their forum accounts, because they were either criticised or had so many post they taught would earn them merits but to no avail.

The funny part is that most of them have the wrong idea that the forum is a money printing machine. And they all come here with the idea that once they register and begin to post,, they would likely increase their rank and begin to get paid from posting.  Unfortunately they get shocked. how difficult the forum is if you aren't ready to learn and understand how it works. Though I was once unfamiliar with so many things on the forum, but I then decided to take my time to learn more about bitcoin and the forum history. Though I know quite well that it's going to take a lot of efforts but I'm ready to go through what ever it takes.

I'm posting this here as a reminder to all other newbies like me who probably feel that the forum is difficult to understand, that it isn't if you just take your mind off other things that you think the forum offers and just be your self.

The problem lies in the incentive. When money is on the table, and if money is rewarded for bad contributions then this will attract a lot of people who will continue to make low quality content to chase the money. This problem is exaggerated by the rampant greed that is generated by altcoins. To make things even worse, it is actually a double negative.

As you continue to get more low quality posts by people who chase only money, you continue to lose good contributors are they are not interested in responding to meaningless posts. The more of them you lose, the worse the situation becomes and looks like.

If you are not chasing merits, there is no difficulty at all in this forum. Why do you care about merits unless it is for ranking up as fast as possible to chase the money?

Actual newbies: We create an account when we want to know something about bitcoin or anything related to crypto, once we got what we wanted we might ghost the account until something comes up in the future.

We can't expect every registered forum user to be really passionate about ranking up but if they are posting continuosly and not getting merits then there's something wrong with what they post.

There’s no instant in learning, everyone should put time and efforts to make the learning possible, and I think this is what majority of newbies lacks, especially that they don’t see it as an educational forum, but more on a get rich quick instead.

The fact is, even newbies are already hunger for profits. So they will go for any shortcut just to gain an income and make theirselves profitable.

You'll find a great amount of newbies in pretty much every forum you'll join, I don't think people do it specifically in Bitcointalk, but I can think of some reason people lose interest. Firstly, some newbies are completely misguided and believe that earning money through Bitcoin is fast and easy, when they realise it's not, they quit. Secondly, it's a lot harder to rank-up after the merit system was introduced, some simply give up when they realise it's not hassle-free. And thirdly, people believe that they can simply enter a signature campaign and earn money, but that couldn't be any further from the truth.

Those who lose interest easily are certainly not serious on their learning goals, otherwise they will sacrifice their extra time so that they can be knowledgeable even at the basics. And worst is, those who have lost its eagerness have now realized that it’s hard to be profitable in the forum. Some may stay, but probably only in gambling section as they prefer to gamble and make instant money rather than increasing their position so they can participate signature campaigns in the future.

Many new people think forum is easy way to make money expecting to get paid and rank up just by posting which mostly leads to them giving up when they do not get merits they hoped for or face criticism. You are right that it can be shock to realize the forum actually requires real learning and understanding. Your own experience of taking time to learn about Bitcoin and forum shows that it takes effort but it is totally possible if you focus on genuinely engaging and learning instead of just looking for rewards. To succeed on this forum we need to be real and truly get involved with community and topic.

Not really, some users make good threads & posts, but it still doesn't get merit. I haven't been here for a month, but I see a lot of this on our local board. That's why there are threads like: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source

The purpose is to find good threads & posts, so that they get on the MS radar. Main mistake newbies make is they rush too much, missing important threads that could broaden their knowledge in the forum. Thinking signature campaign is the only place to earn money, when in fact there are many other ways:

(1) Offer services (design or other things).
(2) Participate in Games and rounds.

They can do those things while they increase their eligibility as a user worthy of ranking up, I'm talking about quality posts.

1. Their expectations aren't the one that they're expecting with. The problem here lies on those who introduced this forum to them. They introduced it in a way where they see this forum as a way to make money, and while that is true, they didn't say the main purpose of the forum which is for educational purposes as well. As for those newbies, since they know that this forum can help you make money, they don't know how long it would take.

2. Overwhelmed. I've tried to introduce this forum to somebody way back 2019 I think, and the first thing that came up to his mouth once he saw the interface of the forum is he got overwhelmed because he don't know what to do. Of course, I'm there to help him, but in the end, he didn't last long here in the forum maybe because he isn't interested at all alongside the fact that he got overwhelmed because he don't know what to do.

Between those 2, the first one is the one that happens for most of the newbies out there. Can't blame them though because it's the one who introduced this forum to them that has a problem, and I hope that stigma will change as early as possible.

The fact that we all have been newbies at one point and risen along the ranks just tells me people want to take short cuts and it has nothing to do with losing interest of the forum!

Btw, some people leave their Newbie accounts when they report a problem they had with a service provider of which when it gets sorted out later on, they have no use for the account as it's done its job.

Other obvious one is finding out how difficult it can be to get merit and people leave forum for this reason...but you know what, you need to weather the storm to survive here.

This is the sad part for most newbies coming all the way here and asking which project to post with. Meaning they are after signature or bounty campaign right away.

Increasing rank cant be done via overnight and few days of lurking. We need to always remind users to become a human and not some bot like posting just to gain merits and rank up.

Not all people who sign up in this forum are supposed to become long term users.

I have accounts in many social medias and forums with different purpose, usually I ask a question about my problem and then abandon my account, sometime I ask a question and want to discuss about it, sometime I just want to troll other people.

For me as long as they don't scam, they're already good.

I am quite sure that you are not a newbie but thanks for writing this and showing that you are not a newbie.

True newbies don't feel impatient in the forum and they even don't mind about ranks while not true newbies with banned accounts and similar things will feel they are impatient for waiting to rank up and have another account at either Full member, Senior Member or Hero Member rank. It's the reason for their hurry to rank up and want to get merit as fastest as possible for their new account.

Let's start with you, OP. What was your purpose in coming to the forum? Judging by your neutral tag, you started publishing your posts, thinking that you would easily and serenely transfer posts created by AI to the forum. You were caught quite quickly. The same thing happens with newbies, with those who do not want to be who they are (I don't know the reason); either people are embarrassed by the lack of knowledge, or they are trying to quickly advance in rank, so they copy-paste posts from AI.

And yes, you are right that many newbies do not understand the purpose of the forum and consider it a forum about making money, thereby quickly becoming disappointed in the opposite and falling to "sleep". Everyone knows that among such accounts there are thousands of alternatives, so as soon as one account is tagged, the others wake up.

And if we speak in a good understanding of "weak" newcomers, then we cannot impose our interests on everyone, since someone may like Bitcoin and be ready to study it, but someone else will simply not be interested in it.

Newbies are gone for a number of reasons. Many of them aren't actually giving up.

There are newbies who came here just to bring up a certain topic. I've read complaints, warnings, concerns, and other issues related with a particular service coming from a newbie. After that, they leave. They probably don't have any other reason to stay.

There are also newbies who came here to post announcements of their newly launched platform. Others are looking for somebody to hire or for a partnership. Others are offering personal services. Some newbies came to just bid for a certain collectible.

Meaning, to say, it's normal for some newbies to leave before they even rank up. It isn't their intention to even climb the hierarchy here, to begin with. Other newbies didn't came here to even join discussions.

There are even newbies who are here to learn.

On the other hand, there are also newbies like you whose sole intention is to rank up in order to earn. I hope I'm wrong.

There are many reasons to why any new members will lose interest, most times it's not them losing interest, they seem to have find the answer they are looking for and they will be less active, until something crypto related comes up again.

There are some that real life happened to, they don't have the time to be active anymore, when life hits hard at times the forum will be the last thing that you will remember.

Right now crypto market isn't looking that good and many have already capitulated their portfolio, this is humans for you, some will be willing to be a part of Bitcoin race while others will get weak very quickly.

The most popular part is making money through the forum, when newbies hear this they become encourage but after they start using the forum they lose interest easily because things doesn't always seem like they pictured.

Here are some of the reasons why some newbies may easily lose interest on bitcointalk.

1. Not all of them could adapt and abide by the forum rules and regulations.

2. Some couldn't withhold from scam related activities while being here.

3. This forum is well moderated unlike other social media

4. They have to learn and follow the normal expected standards for postings.

5. Some newbies can't afford not to plagiarize or use AI, these are many other reasons makes some not to stay, while many already finds them suitable enough to abide and adhere to.

When you're misinformed at the time of joining the forum, there's no way you won't get frustrated along the way when you eventually come to terms with the reality that the forum is never for the faint hearted. Either you're newbie or one that has stayed long on the forum, you need to find a driving force that keeps you active in the forum that's not just all about earning merit or being part of a signature campaign. If you're able to find that drive, then with or without merit, with or without a signature campaign, you can still become an active member of the forum and it will be easier to grow from that point.

Most newbies that came into the forum firstly having a plan of learning about bitcoin and growing Thier bitcoin stack never get bored of the forum. We still have some highly reputable members of the forum that have refused to wire gambling signature campaign but still, are a core member of the forum. It's about identifying what brought you to the forum and staying fixed at doing it. If you're chasing after merit, eventually, you will get caught, it you're chasing after only signature campaign, it will still show with time. It's always going to be a long ride on the forum and along the line, a lot of things will reflect.

It takes those that are interested in the forum above mere signature and meeting hunting to stay motivated throughout their stay in the forum.

Users give up those who joined here for earning money. A lot of newbies think this is an earning platform like Fiverr. When they discovered earnings from here are quite hard, then they gave up. A few users here are bounty and airdrop hunters; they spam around the forum. Only a few users join here to learn about cryptocurrency and to contribute to the forum. We often forget that without learning and gaining proper knowledge, we can't contribute to the forum. Once you contribute yourself, then the forum definitely will give you the best return.

We can't ignore that you can earn from this forum if you are an experienced and skilled person. Based on your skill, you can still sell your service here. And if you are a quality poster and good contributor, then also there is a high chance of earning from the signature campaign. But the matter of earning should always be kept to the side, and you should just focus on improving yourself and contributing to the forum.

You're right in all you said, I think people misprioritize things here, one thing I know is that everyone started from somewhere to where they are today, any one or newbie that abandone his or her account here never had a goal to achieve as his or her target unless such person had life threatening health issues that got him off from here or distraction somewhere that's worth it but as for any other silly excuses, I don't think is justifiable, this forum name really tells what it really is, it is worth it when people concentrate in learning first which is the main thing before any other stuff, I think anyone that gave up just because he or she is not making progress at the beginning isn't really focused or will I say wasn't ready to grow at all in the first place, as we all no, there's time for everything in life but we must have to make the bold decision for us to grow, there's a reason for the growth in this forum to have different stages, the admin of this forum made a wise decision to that effect, kudos to him because if not for that some people would've been taking things for granted here.

Those that stay around only in the gambling section has already define the reason why they are here, it is obvious that they weren't here to learn or get the knowledge about the main thing, my question is, those that concentrate on money making quick money here by engaging themselves in the gambling section, have they been able to get rich quick as they thought, it is very laughable when people try to play tricks on themselves.
