I was thinking of something earlier, something that I noticed with some social media websites, where new people on the platforms usually do not have full visibility at once with whatever contribution they make until they get to a certain level. Is this forum like that, or is every contribution that is made by a newbie like me here visible to every body of all ranks to see.

Forum no longer has newbie jails according to theymos' vision on the forum growth. The head admin considers newbie jails are very harmful not only for newbies but also for forum iself in general.

You need to know of this post, and even bookmark it for reference later whenever you are doubtful about forum approach on newbies.

Limiting newbie participation is very harmful for a community. Newbie jail will never return: I consider the newbie-jail period to have been extremely damaging to the forum. When barriers to participation are too high, then the best people often just won't go to the trouble of joining, and the people who are willing to jump through the hoops are often people who aren't good for the community: people with nothing better to do, scammers, get-rick-quickers, etc. Having a permanent newbie jail policy would improve things a lot in the short-term, but would end up being a fatal poison to the community.

As long as you post in threads inside Bitcointalk, your post can be visible to everyone, including the best ranked member of the forum. This forum is built in a way you don't need different kinds of social media criteria like adding friends or sending friend request before accessing further post, brand new account can get the latest information that is going on inside the forum. The only time your posts cannot be visible to someone is when that particular user puts you in his ignore list.

Yeah newbie have less visibility.

Newbie can't wear avatar, signature, personal text, have a longer cool down between each post, can't post in Investigation & Serious Discussion, can't attach image, and no shiny coins (tag).

But if we talking about visibility about thread and post, anyone from Brand new to Legendary accounts have the same visibility.

No, this forum doesn’t limit newbies in most of its activities, newbies can partake in almost all the discussions in this forum, they are feee to relate and share their opinion when needed because some newbies are very good, creative, and can also bring development to the forum, so why restrict or limit them in some aspects that they might have good inputs in?

For major boards and threads, newbies are free to relate, but I think there are some boards that they are not allowed to post on which I am sure have nothing to do with them.

Of course, as a newbie, there is a a board and sub-board that you cannot post on.
You cannot post on Serious Discussion board as a newbie, until you have reached the Jnr member rank.
You cannot also post on Ivory Tower sub board until you become a full member.
You can post on the rest boards apart from those two that I mentioned.
You cannot post images, only if you buy a Corper membership.

This is a community and there's no segregation, if you post, everyone sees what you posted, but it is more important that you post on anything you know about or join in a discussion you have knowledge of, don't just post without any meaningful taught, there's a format to posting a quality post, which is not limited by ranks, some have been well experienced in crypto and newbie on this forum, this does not make them noob about crypto, because they understand what to post or join in discussion.

My personal view on this issue is that every platform wants a good and reputable person, they don't want to harm their platform and avoid spamming. That's why they made some limitations to ensure that the person is suitable or not.

But on this forum, you are free to post and engage with every person, regardless of their ranks. In fact, they will respond to your post, give you suggestions and advice, and keep you engaged. There are some features that will unlock for you when you grow, but at this stage, no one can stop you from sharing your thoughts. You can post and ask your friends if they can see your post or not, this is the best way to make sure of things here.

Just like you have created your thread and anyone that comes to the beginners and help board sees it. However, if your post is no longer active, it will not be visible like it was when you created it because it will be in the last page, just like how your first post on the forum is no longer active and it's not in the first page of this board and it's not on the second either. Some threads discussion gets more active when the thread is very interesting band creative.

Newbie jail was not about visibility but about newbies not being able to post outside a certain board. Even then, newbie posts in that board will be visible to everyone.
There has never been an algorithm to restrict how many people can view a post on the forum.

When it comes to creating threads forum treats all rank equally, when you make post in any section, then it’s visible to every member of the forum, their is no restriction when it comes to posts, but as a newbie their are some tasks which you can perform, you will have to rank up to at least junior member before you will be able to achieve some things. But if you are hear to learn, then trying to move your rank shouldn’t be your main priority, since your post is visible to everyone even as a newbie.

I think this is quite different from what Op asked. While these boards are limited to newbies, this doesn't mean if they are given the chance to post there their post won't be visible just like every other users.

Just like every other board where newbies cam post their posts are clearly visible even just like the highest ranks (legendary).

I am thinking out of the box because you mentioned a social media website. Are you comparing the engagement of social media with posts/thread made by a newbie?

On social media, a new user creates a post or video that will not be visible to every user. However, if you post, then everyone who enters the thread can see what you have posted and can reply to you, or vice versa. There is no censorship here unless you spam something that violates the forum rules will be deleted by mods.

Regardless of your rank or position level, once you started posting in the forum, that will automatically become visible to other forum members, except if you have posted off-topic threads or replies, the admin will sure to delete it immediately.

Everyone is open in the forum. But once you decide to post, make sure you have something valuable to share that the rest will benefit, otherwise it will be visible, but you’ll gained no active replies from it.

What actually is your definition of visibility op? This is because from a perspective newbies often get the most visibility since they are often being watched. This is because veteran members are curious if a newbie is either a real newbie or a farmed account. The problem is most newbies don't exactly want to learn instead they are looking for an unimaginable boost to a huge rank for low quality posts.
The definition of visibility is tied indirectly to quality and that means being at the top of a thread with a zero meaning post wouldn't make much of a difference.

Your every and each contribution is visible to all forum members. Technically there is no prevention; you can contribute to the forum if you have proper knowledge about cryptocurrency. But the question is, how many newbies contribute to the forum? So far I can see most newbies think, 'How could they earn from the forum?' Hence, they are ignored. The forum users always welcome decent newbies.

The forum evaluates users based on their contribution. But the reality is different; most newbies try to spam over the forum. Those newbies are dedicated to learning and contributing to the forum. They are definitely visible here and getting a good return from the community as well. So your activity and contribution will decide how the community will treat you.

It will be seen by everybody but don’t be surprised if no one quotes your posts or have a conversation with you unless your posts are extraordinarily helpful. People automatically assume newbies are clueless noobs so they tend to ignore them most of the time. It looks like you are not having that problem in this thread of yours as many people came here to express their opinions.

There is even an option in settings that disables getting private messages from the newbies. (For the high ranking members only I believe?) and I enabled it. Meaning if a newbie wanted to reach out to me, I wouldn’t see his private message. It is because 95 times out of 100 it will be a spam. Why waste my time right?

If you mean visibility by other forum users to see those newbie activities it is never limited.
But if you mean newbies having limited access in the forum that is a yeah. Newbies are prohibited from contributing to some discussion sub boards in order to avoid spamming and low quality posts in serious discussions.
Newbies are also not allowed allowed to use personal texts and avatars including limitations on participating on campaigns and voting.

In this aspect, since my stay in this forum and all the history I read about, the forum newbies don't have such limitations. As long as you are eligible to post, everyone will also be able to see your post.

There is nothing like any algorithm which will suggest or limit your post from who will see it and who will not be able to see it based on your rank; it has never been so. Newbies' limitations are just in other areas which have been mentioned above but not on how posts and comments made by newbies are viewed.

Newbie jail was not about visibility but about newbies not being able to post outside a certain board. Even then, newbie posts in that board will be visible to everyone.

I think removing newbie jail without introducing some sort of alternative was a mistake.

We have too many senior members hiding behind newbie alt accounts in order to post some topic meant to smear someone's name or create a new project, which may or may not turn out to be a complete scam in the future.

And there is a lot of unnecessary shilling going on. Nobody can make any connections to the original account because they no longer need to stock up on merit or posts.
