There's this friend of mine who's a strong crypto enthusiast, he has lots of followers on his media handles that he teach about cryptocurrency and he posts it regularly on his WhatsApp staus, anyways why am making this post is cause recently he made a comment concerning Trumps speech after the U.S B-2 Stealth bomber destroyed Iran's nuclear sites, saying in our pidgin language that it would lead Bitcoin to the stone age and backed his comment with a heartbreak emoji.

However i replied his post with "Bitcoin would still be Bitcoin regardless" and he laughed and said he was joking. Then i asked him, "do you know how many of your followers I mean the students you teach about cryptocurrency that your post would mislead into a panic sale"? I advised him to stop misleading his followers with such statements and he was like "Omo bros na true you talk ooo" he felt remorse then went ahead to delete the post, let's stop spreading false informations about Bitcoin  just cause we want to make jokes it's misleading and many newbies could be affected by it, one silly joke could force a newbie that's trying to hold into a panic sale.

I really do see it as an opportunity because this events will likely cause inflations and depreciation of fiat of some certain countries...
So for security of funds a lot more people will store assets in crypto especially bitcoin..

Spreading false information is quite a norm in our society however I don't think anyone would panic sale if they knew bitcoin even the newbies which your refering to wouldn't even sell just because someone posted on their status that a news could lead bitcoin to stone age.

Every newbie knows that bitcoin can't go back to zero that's why they came in firstly, if you ask any one why they want bitcoin you will find out that they believe it can't go back to zero instead it will increase over time. hence if your friend made such post it's not correct yet it's not harmful as exaggerated in my opinion.

To everyone holding Bitcoin definition of purpose must be ascertain, it is either you are a trader with only the aim of getting in and out of Bitcoin for a short-term profits falls in for the vulnerability of panic sell and to say in short people those with a long term view and plan for Bitcoin have a higher commitment level to ignore any kind of negative information about Bitcoin and stay to see the end of the story, for a newbie investor it is ok to panic at some point because they are less experience but however, if investment in Bitcoin are made from a discretionary income we can not so easily panicking perhaps Bitcoin is already known for it's volatility which of course can be cause by different factors.

However what would have been awesome is if the person had backed it up with some historical evidence of where International matters affected bitcoins price. Then that would spark and awesome conversation. But as for this it is not false information. I have read through your contributions and understanding to what the op said that makea me to conclude that you understand the whole thing thats playing out in the Iran and Israel war, I think I always say that people should say things how they are without withdrawing any word at all as far it has to do with cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) generally so that some people especially newbies will not feel that they were misled by some information they got from a trusted enthusiasts that has a good knowledge about Bitcoin but in this kind of case which is war, we also know that it may not last although there have been several speculation that what is actually playing out in the price of Bitcoin might be as a result of the ongoing war between the two countries as I mentioned earlier but those as also mere speculation for now and as a matter of fact Bitcoin price has not decline less than $100k for now so I think the op friend wouldn't be regarded as a strong Bitcoin believer I rather call him or her a trader and I believe that's what he teaches people not actually the whole cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) of a thing, I said this because if he's really a strong enthusiasts it would've been very obvious from his or her statement.

Don't say that every newbie knows that Bitcoin can't get back to zero. There are newbies who doesn't know a shit about Bitcoin. What they really know is what the person who introduced them to Bitcoin investment told them about Bitcoin, to invest and sell for profits.

Imagine in a scenario that a person that introduced a newbie to Bitcoin investment, posted the exact thing OP shared on his own WhatsApp timeline without much knowledge given to those newbies that look up to him for crypto info, how would the newbies react, when the person they are looking up to is posting such a shit about Bitcoin. You know what would that cause in the mind of those newbies "anxiety" for them to sell off their Bitcoin holdings.

@op You are absolutely right. Your friend may have said this jokingly, but there are many people in the society who love to spread lies and fabricated stories to others.

Wise people always say, "A little knowledge is dangerous". Among the people around us, those who have little knowledge mostly carry false information. But on the other hand, there is no one who really knows the information and listens to them. This can be called a kind of anxiety. So we all need to be aware. This is really a good call you’ve done in this regard, sharing fake news about the market condition could mislead many people and can lead to panic self many investors especially newbies who are yet to understand well how the market works. The market is in a very bad state now because of the wars between USA, Iran and Isreal; but if he’s posting such stuff, he’s just making people to have disbelief in bitcoin that it’ll escape this war situation and will crumble in the end. I think you have no idea the mentality of a lot of people in bitcoin, even people who are not newbies, panic and sell, talk more of newbies who let’s say heard from their mentor that BTC is going down the drain. There are newbies who hodl large sums of bitcoin because someone asked them to, they don’t know shit bout bitcoin and there are those who are getting to know about it and who are still sceptical. I don’t think all the knowledge you have now you had them when you were a newbie, it’s not everyone that’s opportuned to the right information and knowledge, even as DYOR is encouraged it takes time and patience for a newbie to perfectly practice this.

 No matter how we look at it news has a way of affecting our psychology especially someone who isn’t rooted in the rudiments and technicalities of bitcoin.
