Greed is the reason people never get satisfied with the win they make irrespective of the fact that it doesn't come always.  Most people like to believe that any instances of them making a slight win is their lucky hour so they'll want to maximize their luck but unfortunately luck doesn't work like that, and we cannot determine or know when we're gonna get lucky,  which is why we need to treat every bet thesame without letting emotions get in and reap us from making the right decisions of a good risk management strategy.

It's funny, for sure, but I believe it's more because of greed than addiction, or maybe a mix of both, because when you are not addicted, you may control your greed and don't do it, but if you are both greedy and addicted, there is no way you are going to stop from giving it another try only to see if you can get another big win or not because you've already got one, so maybe you can get another. Most gamblers lose what they had won along with their initial capital only because of this mistake, and then they regret it. Isn't that even funnier?

Human beings are totally incomprehensible sometimes. If you are betting on football matches, for example, you will see that when you deposit X amount, after some time you lose all X amount, but you have had some wins and losses. If you are lucky enough to win a lot of money, then you would have to make two choices:

I think not only that but also the fact that when you are winning you want to keep going and greed gets the best out of you. In such situations you can ruin yourself too, I did yesterday trying to win more and more money made me lose it all in the end despite being in big profit before I lost it all. Obviously. When something happens to you first time, you are emotionally not even prepared to deal with it. That's why first heart break is so devastating, and that's why people who don't deal with their feelings will push them down. Because first time doing that can be so scary that you don't want to do it second time, even though you are more prepared for it.

I recall my first bets as a kid, and if those wouldn't have disclosed on the same day, i wouldn't have got any sleep, because i was emotionally overwhelmed.
