Why are the Vice President and Deputy Governors often silent in Nigeria?

I have been trying to find out why the vice president and deputy governor in Nigeria are often silent or inactive.
I mean they are rarely given power and authority to perform a meaningful role, even when the governor or president is absent from the country or seriously ill or, in some cases, even after dead.

I know other countries like the United States, Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico that practice systems of government like Nigeria. In their cases, the vice president and deputy governors are always active, visible and influential. They represent the president or governor when necessary and perform a major role in the governance.

Why is Nigeria's case different? I know my question might sound funny, but it is reality. I just don't want to mention names, but that practice has been in existence for long.
Is this our political culture of fear of rivalry, or is it how it is in the Nigerian constitution?

My brother as a Nigerian you surpose don know all this things na, E no surpose surprise you because our leaders too like power, if vice president or deputy governor start showing himself like most developed nations dy do, our president go think say him wan over throne am, but na really wrong way of thinking.

Another thing their is that most times base on say na the president or governor them elect into office, all attention go be on him, and even if the deputy or vice wey him choose dy really active in his duty, people no go too notice am because no be him be the person them elect into power, and no be him them go judge if things no dy go as planned.
Like for naija as we dy so, no be only tinibu we dy blame for everything? Na only him because na him dy in charge.

Our political system dy really messed up badly because if our political system dy ok, tell me why president go get power suspend governor wey them elect put for office?
So make nothing surprise you for this country again.

Bro, it is deeper than you think. When the late President Yar’Adua was sick for months, they did not allow Jonathan to take over immediately; do you remember? The same thing happened when former President Buhari was sick abroad for months; it was the cabal that was in charge, not Osinbajo. In fact, many of the vice president’s responsibilities, like N-Power and others, were removed from his office during that time.
Even when the late Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, was seriously ill, his deputy was sidelined and frustrated. This pattern keeps repeating every regime.

it is just that the current president of Nigeria at the moment is not an active one if not, during the when Yemi Osinbajo was the then president, he was almost as popular as the then president. what is the main case is that each office has the role they are assigned to carry out and some might not require them to always come to the public for most of their official duties. the vice president apart from carrying out his official duty stands in for the president in occasion when the president might not be all that free to go out for such kind of function.

sometimes, when you are a vice that is under a president or governor that likes to outshine you, it might be possible that you might not really do much because of their kind of leadership style but for the most part, even though the vice president or deputy governor appears to be silent sometimes, they still joins in making polices that helps the country to continue running.

be it in Nigeria or in a foreign country, every position has the obligation occupants of such position are required to carry out. real leadership is not even about being in the public space every time, it is about knowing what one is supposed to do and carrying it out seamlessly.

I noticed this also and this wasn't what we saw on the past government because the regime of Mohamadu Buhari the Vice president was almost more active than even the president itself because he was the one that normally do all the visiting and commissioning of so many infrastructures, perhaps it was because of how learned the vice president is, he is a professor and very vocal but his president isn't, so that might be the reason for that but on this case of Amed Tinubu is not the same because his vice president is not a public figure and besides Tinubu doesn't give him any chance. Although even if say Tinubu vice no be the type way they talk but the man supposed to they show say him too na leader instead of the way e come be like say we no get any vice president for we country, however i don't no much about the deputy side because is also silent.

I would not say that the vice president or deputy governor are silent, they not just as active a the president or the governor. I must let you know that they are very functional and are carry out their duties on a daily basis.
We should also understand that they are just like an assistant to the president or the governor,  so their jobs are mainly delegated to them by their superior, also there are duties that are meant for them and they execute those duties on their own without the interference of their superior.

The vice president and deputy governors will only act in the absence of the president or the governor. Why they are mostly silent is because their offices are dependent on that of the president or the governor. As long as the president or governor is active, their office will remain silent unless they are being delegated power to act. I remember the vice president Yemi Osimbanjo under the leadership of Late Muhammadu Buhari ran the country when the then president was on sick leave. Late Rotimi Akredolu of ondo state handed power to his deputy when he was sick before his death. And the deputy took over power. So it's false information when you said president and governors don't hand over powers to their second when they are sick or out of the country.

Constitutionally there are certain numbers of days that the governor or president should be outside the country before transmitting power to their second. So if the president or governor won't be out for more than that numbers of days, he/she won't handover power to their second. These things are provided for in the constitution.

Vice President and deputy governor no get mouth because even during campaign na the aspiring president and the governor dy always do the talking dy deputies no dy function. And even dem no trust dy deputies, so dy give dem less power and less popularity.

Omo make I no lie you, that deputy governor position, and vice president wey u mention, those two positions na just scam dem be, because Dem dey fucking useless for dis country. If I tell you say I no even sabi deputy governor of my state you go think say na lie, I no even sabi d guy name, because I never even hear anything about the guy before, e just be like say d position no Dey even exist. Deputy governor position na just scam, Dey just put person for there wey Dey chop money low key, and him no Dey do anything.

Even if governor or president no Dey country, there deputy no Dey always Dey active, e just be like say na still d governor go still Dey run him thing even if him no Dey around.

The only time wey I see say vice president Dey active for dis country na when our formal president Muhammad Buhari Dey ill, and they fly am commot for country for treatment, na that time dem hang over power to Osinbajo wey be vice president that time. Also I know say if president or governor die, na the vice go take over power, but apart from that, i no Dey sure say vice get use.
