With so many new airdrop strategies and scams out there, do you think crypto airdrops are becoming less popular... or do you still actively look for and participate in them?

After the ICO MANIA of 2017 definetely the AIRDROPS have completely change their nature. Less valuable, many scams, infinite tasks to follow...
Well I am not actively following anymore, and just few have been somewhat interesting (I would say with +100 USD as prize).
The others are just a waste of time. And there is alwyas the risk to deal with a scam project.
I don't know if it's still worth as option for "profit". I havent seen nothing valuable since a while...

I participated in few airdrops when I was a newbie to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but later I changed when I noticed that many of them are only trying to scam me and I did not see some worth it.

I still think some people are still participating in airdrop, which makes it not yet outdated but there are many scam airdrops now. Newbies should be very careful and know how to spot fake airdrops.

I don't know if airdrop even exist anymore because I can't remember when last I hunt for airdrops or even join them, from what I understood about airdrop is that most of the owners are just using the airdrops to build their social media handles, such as; twitter (x), telegram, Facebook and discords for those that operates with discords. Besides I have hardly seen airdrop campaign launched over here except for those that are being promoted on twitter and other various media but for this forum it's hard for a projects to make it through airdrop except they included an attractive offers.

No, I no longer participate in airdrops, I try last year after the hype on Notcoin, however, the next projects didn't even allow to participate as there are stages that I need to do. So I was disappointed and so it just reinforce on what we know before. It's no longer worth our hard work and time, unlike in 2017 wherein Airdrop is a thing and everyone was enjoying getting at least $100 per airdrop to even as high as $1k. I have nothing against those who still seek airdrop and make some money. But for me, it's not worth the risk as some of them are not going to paid you or simply blatantly going to scam people.

I don't participate in them. They've become a honeypot for scams and not only that, they are attracting people to buy whatever they sell in that airdrops and want to make people think they'll have more in distribution if they avail those too early.

It's true that they're becoming less popular because that's how they did dirty the community. If most of these devs were just honest and let the community win over them, they're probably still around.

But because of that, they're no longer desirable by many and just become a trend and hype that we might see come again on the next cycle.

You are actually right on this buddy, many people are still into airdrops, just that the numbers has drastically reduced when compared to the way it was a year back or so due to disappointment.
On my own part I still engage in few airdrops, but they are outside telegram, any airdrop that is being done in telegram mini apps are a massive red flag to me, but if the airdrop is outside telegram, I might give it a try if is feel that this or that is legit.
Right now am only mining Rubi and atok, that's the only two am still doing as of now because you can sell it off even as they haven't launch it, and I can confidently say that I have sold  the atok i mine a few times, so  the stress is worth it in my own opinion

To me airdrops are not what they used to be, to be honest. I still recall the times when Stellar airdropped fifty dollars and when Uniswap air dropped it's token to liquidity providers (that was an specially profitable airdrop for those who sold their tokens near the ATH).
How it stands today, most airdrops are from projects which do not even manage to get to the top 20 of coins by market capitalization and many of them are scams in some way.

Simply put, there are not so many developers with actual good intentions and original ideas out there in the market anymore, most of them just take advantage of the trend to sell their projects, it happened with Defi, it happened with NFTs and it happened with Artificial intelligence.

More than ever one needs to be very selective if one wishes to participate on airdrops in this context we are going through today.

With so many new people joining the crypto industry, I don't think airdrops will go away. But it could become less popular, the reason being that they barely give anything. The last airdrop I participated in was $CATI, invested there & waited for allocation, it turned out that all I got was 100% ROI, nothing more. Airdrops are great as a starting point for people new to the industry, but they really aren’t worth it at all for people who have been in crypto for a while.

I participate sometimes especially if I know the project is hype and there's good potential for the project to get listed on decent exchange.

But don't participate like doing it in hardcore way since I'm bit disappointed about on where are the airdrops going since lots of the project now are scam and that's a total waste of time if we participate on a project that doesn't have any plans to pay us.

That's why I'm selective on the project I participating because I don't want to spend lots of efforts then get nothing in return.

You just gotta put more time to research the airdrop honestly.

Plenty of good airdrop happened recently such as HUMA, SOPHON and so on, but yeah there are also many projects that exist just to grift on the community and milking their users.
So you really need to do a thorough research otherwise you're gonna waste your time and money.

But doing research isn't as easy as it sounded, there's always other factor that can turn a supposedly good project into a bad one.

No for me it has been along time since I did want to earn some free tokens in the air drops. When I did star to get tokens that were not going to be worth any fiat I did lose some interest in them.
I do think if there are some tokens we can get for free well then they will not be worth alot. If a project is real it will not want to give away free tokens. Some of the work is too easy to earn tokens we can think they will even become a scam and not worth anything.

Same as you I actually abandon any thoughts joining on those airdrops since so far for longest time I didn't see anything worth to spend our time. Lots of scams are happening and its total waste of time and effort if we participate on a scams.

That's why same as you instead of wasting my time there. I just find other good activities that more beneficial to me and so far doing good and didn't even bother to look for airdrops for long time.

I still see people doing it and maybe they have lots of time to waste for these activities.

They are becoming more less popular, since people have tasted them for the first time to discover on how horrible it could cost to try investing with them, to earn them freely also has been nothing than a dash hope for nothing, except for those coming in newly to come and see or learn how they could begin their journey in learning with the use of airdrops, but as for the OGs, we are done and have dusted every demands and urge for hunting after such in crypto.

There are still large communities of airdrop participants or workers, so there is still a market for these project developers.
Instead of paying for promoters, they prefer to use airdrop workers to promote their platform; there's no cost, only a small percentage of their token allocation.

I prefer to participate in testnet airdrops because, with testnet, people are using the platform to test it, and the platform has a clear use case. Many of these testnet airdrops have turned out to be profitable for airdrop participants.

I still participate in an airdrop. There are still worth to try out there.

But not to those projects that require a lengthy task like sharing regularly in social media, users must meet these, must meet that, daily tasks, special perks for those who will spend for something like premium item, NFT or anything related to purchase, and some time-consuming tasks, which in the end are not worth the effort.

I also ignore those airdrops that have a referral competition, as it was totally a fraud to me, as it can easily be manipulated. I also don't want the idea where the number of referrals takes a big part in the criteria for eligibility. Referral rewards should just be fine.

I don't think crypto airdrop becomes less popular. It's just you who can't find a proper airdrop, and ended as a scam.

I still actively looking and participate in various airdrop. I got 10k++ alone this year from airdrop, and more to come.

Be smart! not all airdrops will pay off your efforts. Try to find some that has good funding and proper backers. That's the key.

No, I don't think so, you are not just doing the right research I have seen airdrops that are not very popular but have given participants good profit, and there are untapped airdrops.

These are not the tapping airdrops that bring nothing to the community and are only used by unscrupulous developers to make a profit at the expense of the airdrop participants, these airdrops that have good potential are utility-based, they bring usage to the community and contribute to the ecosystem of cryptocurrency technology.

So once you encounter an airdrop ask yourself what this particular airdrop is bringing to the community.

In the past, I tried to join some airdrop campaigns, a few succeeded, and more failed. In the group that usually shares the latest airdrop campaign still publishes active airdrops. Occasionally, I visit groups on Telegram, but I don't seem to want to do airdrop campaign tasks anymore.
The reason is simple, besides many scam projects, I get many messages from unknown users offering private sale tokens or offering some help. I'm not comfortable with that.
