I really play for fun. Not like I've not played for money earlier, but the resultant effect on me was just the inspiration I needed to know that taking gambling as an income source is not for me.

The depression gave me wisdom and after pulling through it and abandoning gambling for 3 years, I returned a more disciplined gambler who would always play for fun and not expect anything more from gambling, hence my choice to keep playing for fun only and going in with amounts I can afford to lose.

Interesting, only 3 people voted so far and they all say they are playing for fun. (One of them is me) That’s a big headstart for the guys with common sense which I didn’t expect to see here. Now we will see a lot of people answering, those who will claim that they play for fun. I am ready to bet that many will be disingenuous. People from countries with a low standard of living and high unemployment simply will not spend an extra penny on entertainment. This is very obvious; such people always have hope for some profit, which can bring some hope for a better life to their level of poverty. I play for fun. I have a different country and slightly different opportunities, and I do not consider myself a regular player; rather, I am someone who likes to have a good time with friends, from time to time just spending money.

Majority of gamblers , gambles  to make money. It is barely few out of many that gambles for funs , many that gambles to make money will deny the fact that they gamble to make money rather they will say they gamble for fun which is not so.As for me I don't gamble for fun , I gamble to win not to lose however since I understand the nature of gambling, I don't get disappointed if it doesn't go my way .so I believe out of 100% of gambler, 99% plays to make money while the remaining 1% may gamble for fun.

I voted for play for fun.  I don't know, but it seems though that maybe I have matured enough that I no longer chasing any money but just to have some fun specially that I usually go out with my wife to play in land base casinos. And sometimes with friends and we will there playing for hours without minding the time. Of course, we play with our budget and the money that we can afford to lose and perhaps that is one reason why we play the way we did, just laughing sitting on a slot machine and if we do get the bonus then it's going to be like we hit the Jackpot. I’ll go with this one,  not trying to be unrealistic here because I believe it’s possible.
I’m just being ambitious, and who knows maybe I’ll actually succeed through gambling.

I right now play for fun and voted for the same and surprisingly all so far votes are for fun side alone, does it mean all gamblers here are doing fine? If so, that must be a great achievement of this gambling community thanks to what has been discussed on this board for over a decade.

But, I started gambling for building an additional income stream for my leisure time. Out of lots of bitter experiences, I switched over to fun seeking mode by limiting my bankroll.

The three options you've provided are almost the same and I'm almost certain that the majority of gamblers that plays for fun also at the same time play for Money and are equally hoping that they can continue winning even for the long term. It's hard to see a gambler that's playing just for the fun that comes with it because if that's the case, the majority of them wouldn't agree to play with real money.

Maybe if there's a need to segment the kind of gamblers we have, it might likely be between those that does it as a means of livelihood Vs those that just play it once in a while and are not all too bothered about the result that comes in each trial since for the most part, they are gambling with what they can afford to lose.  Play for fun hopping to win since you're using your money but don't play irresponsibly, that's what matters most.

Of course, I bet to make money from winning. But I know, I can't do it and get it consistently for a long time. I just enjoy the game and the bets.

Here I saw from the statistics that six people have voted so far in the Bitcoin forum, out of which no one is gambling to make money, everyone is gambling for entertainment. I am gambling here for entertainment, I was not gambling to make money. Also, I am using a very small amount of my income to gamble, so that if I lose money, I do not regret it. Here, everyone really understands that gambling to make money is not right at all and gambling to make money is the most likely to lead to addiction to gambling and at some point it is seen that that person has become addicted to gambling. Anyway, it is very good that no one here is gambling to make money or for long-term profit.

I play for money, but I don't want it to be long-term. It's like just having fun, too, but my goal is to win and just play for fun and let it go without even thinking about it. Winning short-term, then resting for a day or two. Then, I will come and play short-term again. That's when I play slots only.

Gambling  whether it’s sports betting, casino, or any other form  should never be treated as a reliable way to make money. For most people, it’s simply entertainment. I play for fun and to make money while doing that, not sure which option would be appropriate for my choice, so I decided not to participate in the poll since there is no goal to make money in the short or long term.

I guess there is no long term in gambling for sure. When you cannot be profitable instantly how you could plan for either short term or long term. Each day is different in gambling. So, you cannot plan for anything in long run because your luck factor is not in your control.

A gambling house owner and a gambler are absolutely two different entities and I assumed that this topic covers only the gambler's part and not about the operating a gambling house as a business. For the sake of debating, we may say that the only possible way to be profitable is being a house in the entire gambling industry. Even it is true, a gambler cannot be a gambling owner over the night. Moreover, all gambling houses are remaining profitable business forever which is the reason why we see most of them biting the dust due to bankruptcy.

When it comes to poll, then we dont know whether these responses or choices are actually real. We do know that gamblers are having that sense of denial even if they are already playing for the sake of money but they do show off that they are doing this for the sake of money and this isnt new or shocking anymore. There are just that those times or moments that you have that kind of not accepting with your current state. In my case on which Im that 100% sure that I do play for fun and not for money. Although there are times or moments that those kind of control will be getting out of hand just because we do become that impatient and impulsive. Losing money is never been fun and thats why sometimes we do go overhead and go past beyond our limits on which it causes up for us to do the things on which we dont want to do but since we do become emotional then it do usually happen.

Only fools would be that believing that they can make easy and constant money with gambling on which this is something that they should be that realizing it before its too late. We've been through those kind of thinking at the moment that we are still newbie on which we do have those impressions too but there are those individuals who do able to think up well and able to stop immediately on that kind of delusional approach and there are those who do still continue because they are trying out to achieve something on which they are that still being delusional that they can be able to make it through. Playing gambling for the sake of money and for long term will be bringing out that potential devastation into your finances and if you arent that good when it comes into this aspect when it comes to control and moderation then you are looking yourself on having that problems later on. Make it sure that you wont be messing up your life with because you are that being delusional.

I think that the question is too restrictive. Ultimately my goal is to be entertained but also I need to win continuously long-term. But I do not make this a do or die affair it is something that I take slow and steadily. The knowledge I'm getting from the gambling session is helping me to build on my gambling persona and modify my goals so that in the long run I would not just be entertained but will also be making money from gambling. Not the type of money that can be used to buy a car or a house but something that can afford some small vanities of life.

Of course, I'll pick "I play for fun" as well because... that's what many said. Kidding aside, I play for fun because I don't see gambling as a source of income or a way for me to make money because gambling is a form of entertainment for me, and the money that I'm using is the payment for that entertainment. Same if you're watching on cinemas. At some point though, I really thought that gambling can be a way to make money IN THE LONG RUN, but I realize that I was wrong. Yes, you can make money in the short run, but if you continue to gamble after winning huge amounts of money, you will end up losing possibly all of your money.

I do not like to lose, even I do not like to lose as less as $1 while gambling. Am I playing for fun? It is hard to answer but I use 1% of my weekly income on gambling. Recently I am using less than 1% of my weekly income to gamble as I am not frequently gambling like before. I just feel like to gamble or bet at times.

I do not think I do it for fun while also I do not do it for money. If not gambling frequently but still gambling at times is included, then I can say that I do it for fun. But while losing money, it will discourage me to continue gambling and this can last for days or weeks.
