If you are a gambler that follows the rules you would not end up losing a lot of money like those that are Indisciplined...The last rule is the most important because that's the main reason why a lot of gamblers lose in the long run...if you are the type of gambler that can't accept losses then you'd end up chasing... I quite agree with all the points you raised. However, on the issue of keeping track of all our gambling losses and wins, I don't think it is that necessary to do. In fact, it might have some negative effects on some gamblers who find it hard to control their emotions.

Imagine a gambler who has incurred a series of losses, if he is not smart, he might be tempted to start chasing losses or decide to live in regret for losing so much. I don't see gambling as a viable business I should keep records of.

Anyone who has been on this forum long enough and have been very active in the gambling board would easily be able to see this list of basic gambling rules and have it at the tip of their fingers.

Knowing them is one thing applying them is another thing. It is the application of it that is the hardest.

I think that as a gambler the more experience you get the more you are able to develop your own set of rules that is not any different from these but slightly a better version that works well with you.

Don't try to win back your losses

This is quite true and very important because when someone is losing is the time the person is most vulnerable to lose more.

But it is worth knowing also that if you win, just do not gamble for that time until another time because after winning, that is the second next time someone is vulnerable to losses as the person will think he may continue to win that he is good.

Thank you for putting all these rules together because they are really basic rules just like you rightly said. New gamblers will find them very helpful because it will save them the stress of finding out about them through painful experience.  I apply these rules subconscious especially the aspect of not chasing losses and maintaining a budget which must not be exceeded,  these are key to successful gambling.

All these rules are good, but you can only implement and realize the importance of this when you break it and lose a lot of money; this is where experience comes to play, you have something in the past that you will no want to do it again because in gambling the temptation to take risks for bigger rewards is just too tempting.

All these rules are easy to read, you can read them before the start of your session, and you will be surprised how weak you are, it takes a bad action in the past to correct errors, and this is so true in gambling; you never know the heartache of losing unit you come to a situation where you don't want to lose but still lose it all.

Well, as much as I totally agree with you that all the points op mentioned in his posts are all valid, it's still important we understand that one of the mentioned points is new to most of us who have been into gambling for a while now.

But all the same, the thread is still very much beneficial to the newbie gamblers among us, I've always said that self control is one of the most important thing we much possess as gamblers because without it, it's hard to obey or adhere to other list of rules, setting a rule is not always the most important thing, but being disciplined well enough to obey or adhere to the rules is the most important thing.

Following the rules to the core, dont stop us from losing, it only reduce the chances of losing too much. While we are taking gambling rules serious let us not forget working on our mentality too. Both needs to work together if you want to be in a more better position.

Even if you're not gambling seriously. It's important to know how much is going out in our pockets and how much is getting in. So that we will not go out from the threshold that we set when we gamble. This is very small action but many doesn't do it because they only calculate how much loses they get and will just have to win them back somehow in anyway. But with this little action of tracking loses and wins, you'll have an idea if you're doing good whether you're for fun or for the profit. You are correct, and here are some major rules that a person can acquire to succeed in gambling. I will share the summary that if a person can control his emotions, then 90 percent of his gambling problems will be solved. In gambling, most failures come from emotions, users don't know how to get rid of them, such as anger in loss, greed in win, etc. These emotions directly affect gambling life, and when they fail to control them, their lives become stuck in it. Some may turn to suicide, and some may become addicted and sell all their assets just to get one opportunity that can change their lives and bring them back to normal.

I just Read your comments about the point in the ops that is not all that familiar with must of us here, ND sure I was able to spot that point, between it get buried under since we have other points that cover up what that new one that we have been familiar with and work's fine for us, as sure decipline is the bedrock of everything when it comes to gambling.
