As a married man who has a wife and kids, it is important to let your spouse know how much you had in Bitcoin or your seed phrase. But that should only happen when you truly trust your wife and knows she loves you and can't harm you, so as to run away with your money. Because I have seen many scenarios whereby a wife fired for a divorce and went away with almost half of the man's property, including Bitcoin assets, simply because she knew of it. Which is why some people might be skeptical of reviewing how much they own in Bitcoin to their parties.
Even a married man doesn't transfer all his funds directly to his wife's bank account for expenses. He wisely asks for details of important and urgent requests, then regularly sends monthly payments. That's where communication begins. For technical matters, for example, if a wife finds out her husband owns BTC, I think it's normal unless he's a trader, but if she's just a housewife, there's no need to worry. In fact, as husbands, we should sit down and discuss this issue when the time comes, while we're healthy. If our health declines, the funds will be used for medical expenses and other things. I believe it's best to remain healthy and distribute the assets while we're healthy, because control is still dominant, as we, as heads of the family, are fully responsible for them, and I think they will listen because our goal is to seek more for our children and wives. When we're nearing death, what else is there for?

What happens to your crypto if something happens to you? Have you really prepared for that? This is something that’s been on my mind lately ,and I think it’s something many of us in the crypto space avoid talking about.
We go to great lengths to protect our private keys and seed phrases. Cold wallets, metal backups, multi-sig setups... we lock everything down so no one but us has access. That’s great for security — but what if you suddenly die or fall into a coma? Would your spouse, kids, or family be able to access your crypto?
A lot of people might say, “I’ve written it down somewhere, they’ll figure it out.” But let’s be honest — in a real emergency, things get messy. Crypto isn’t like a traditional bank account where someone can just present a death certificate and get access. If you haven’t made a clear and secure plan, your coins could end up lost forever.
I actually know someone this happened to — a guy I met a while back died unexpectedly in an accident. He had a cold wallet with a decent chunk of BTC, and to this day, his wife still hasn’t been able to recover any of it. He didn’t use any kind of inheritance system or trusted setup. It’s just... gone.
For my opinion I will say you should entrust your security phase to your lawyer or security codes for your family or next of kin to be able to access it he any sudden death . Because no one knows what's going to happen next and imagine all the hard work and investment gone just like that is that really worth it NO . So it's best we do the needful now

Well this is something that’s is inevitable, but still you have to prioritize your privacy . Though you can choose to tell some trust worthy folk . Like someone you really trust , because if you don’t tell anyone and you endup losing your seed phrase (we are not even taking about death None coma ) you are still going to lose your assets . So better for someone you trust to know about your seed phrase location. Doesn’t mean you will start telling everyone when making such decision, you just have to take your time .
If the need for telling someone is for the sake of not losing your seed phrase, then I will say it's a wrong choice. You can save and guard it on your own by keeping it in different locations where only you will know about it. It's only for cases of emergency where if the person is no more or can't do anything for them self again that I consider it safe to allow someone, a family member or child, to have access to it. After all, the wealth is supposed to be for them if the person is no more.

Since I invest for the long term, I have informed a trusted member of my family about my investment. There is no guarantee in human life, so I think it is necessary to inform someone trustworthy about my investment. The purpose of investing in a long-term plan is so that we can get some good profits from this investment in the future and our next life should be beautiful. By investing consistently thinking about the future, if I die before enjoying the results of this investment and if I cannot inform any member of my family about my investment, then this investment is completely useless because in my absence, no one will be able to access my wallet, as a result of which this investment will remain useless, investors should think about these things in advance.
The fact that you have chosen to tell trusted family member your long term investment is very smart idea, as it will deal with enormous issue of digital inheritance, since being in self custody with your own crypto keys will make your money useless and locked away for good in case your family cannot access your wallet when you die. When you tell someone you trust and give them place of your keys, you change your investment from risk which will not work in your absence to safe plan which will make sure money can still do its purpose of supporting your family in future. But first you have to confirm the trusted person and then you have to tell about your investment. Now if any family member is informed about your investment and is given the password of your investment wallet, then later he can cheat you in the presence of the investor. In other words, the wallet access should be given to a person who can only use your investment in the absence of that person. Many people do not think this is safe, but there is no alternative if the investor wants to leave an investment in Bitcoin for future generations.

It's not just a few people who store their coins on exchanges, but the vast majority. If you take all exchanges into account, that's just a huge number of users, compared to the much smaller number of people who store their bitcoins in cold wallets. It's just that we are on a forum dedicated to Bitcoin, so there are many of us here, but in real life, there will be more people who store their bitcoins on CEX, and DEX is also for advanced users. In general, you can try contacting a reliable insurance company and explaining your situation to them. They can assess the risks and offer their services. This way, you can even protect yourself if something happens to the exchange. But it is important to understand that if you have large amounts, the insurance will also have to pay a lot.

So what's the guarantee that they won't open the will we wrote, because you previously didn't trust your partner because they wanted to wait until death before they could open the will. The most important thing is that everyone probably has a plan for this because we never know when death will come, and there are usually many ways people can prevent their assets from dying with us. But have you ever imagined if your wife or husband knew nothing about these assets? Are you sure they could take your Bitcoins even though you've written the private key somewhere you consider safe?

Just because your spouse doesn't know how to save and protect your shared assets, doesn't mean other spouses are the same. I've been married even longer than you and have 2 kids. But my experience is completely different from yours, I have complete trust in my partner and they have never let me down. I have been providing private keys and hardware wallets to partners for years because I believe they will do better than me. You know, I've never had any problems and she’s always followed everything I've asked.

This have raised a lot of arguments on how to give your assets when something happens since is notice the banking system that you can have a next of kin and since the system are different, there is still a way and since you don't like the idea of documenting it with a lawyer, then there should be someone in your family you trust with everything with everything and if it is documented by the firm it is safe hands bit sometimes you still have to be careful because in a lot of Cases they are humans and they can not be trusted. Even if anyone is going with lawyers they should make sure someone is aware of everything. This things we are saying all look like something many people will not even try. My two scent, don't buy what you will not use and make sure you ar safe.
And this are all part of the reason why I will advice everyone to have a private wallet were funds are stored and instead of trusting exchanges and I know there are people that they will be considering leaving there funds in an exchange for there people to claim if anything should happen and if it is for along time holding that thought should not be even implemented because it might end in tears. .

If you permit me I would love to also share your post to my local board just incase some of them might have not seen it and hope you don’t mind because I will also be referencing you with the link to your work. This question you have asked, is truly a good one and it is worth talking about because the crypto community make it seem like it is totally a crime to let a family member have some clue as to how to access our wallet incase there is an emergency and emergency in this case might it even be death but maybe some other situations and it will be bad that you have the resources to save yourself but couldn’t because no one knows how to access your coin. In as much as we advocate for privacy, we should also think of a safer way to let someone access our coins in cases of emergency

From my point of view, I would always prefer to give these things to my mother or father or keep them with them. Because no one can be trusted, the only trustworthy people are my mother and father. There are many people who have accumulated a lot of Bitcoin, if that person tells a lawyer about his assets or gives him the private key of his wallet, then after your death he can steal all your Bitcoin if he wants. So I think that it will never be a good decision to tell anyone other than your parents, wife and heirs about something like Bitcoin. You should hide these things as much as possible. If you tell someone that you have a lot of Bitcoin, they can also harm you. So if you tell someone close to you such as your parents or wife, you can tell any of them, it will be good for you.

Every person will die at some point, so he must give the details of all his hidden assets to a trusted person. This is especially important for those who hold Bitcoin. Even if you carefully hold the seed phrase, there is no point if no one can use that asset in the future. We should at least teach someone we know and trust so that he has the opportunity to use any Bitcoins he has acquired in the future.

I have thought of this countless times. There should be some way to pass ones assets on to children, or spouse in the case of any eventuality.
There should be someone we trust who can manage things in cases like this, but then the human minds is unpredictable if they are given such information. Some people can not handle that knowledge especially if the assets are huge, they might get tempted to move the content of your wallets if they have crypto knowledge.

At the moment I am still a little relaxed about it even though I know that age will never know because the worst can happen but for now I still have no problem if the worst happens to me and I leave forever leaving the wallet that I have now. My partner knows about me being in crypto but the downside is that he can't and still doesn't intend to be in crypto even though I've tried to teach him. I have told him where I keep my seeds even though he doesn't really care about it but I told my partner about it. Not that I am not trying to be more private but I am still very confident with my current partner so I can still be quite relieved even though I may leave this world but the possibility as an inheritance for my family including for my partner and children may still be able to get it and maybe even continue if he later has the desire to check my wallet.

To be honest, your bitcoins might remain in your wallet forever if you do not make a solid plan and stick with it. Because, in this instance whoever you bequeath your funds to will need the seed or private key to entry that funds. shamirs secret sharing or a wallet with multi sig could be an option. This will give you more than one person to access your funds Additionally, yes, you could write down your private key or seed on water proof paper or metal. also you must give your heirs explicit instructions. If you ignore these things, you will find that despite all your savings, your bitcoins will likely be stuck on the blockchain, and your family will likely never get it back. Asset management is a very important responsibility !

That is why I have assured my life partner about my Bitcoin holding. I think just telling them about Bitcoin is not enough. If they cannot use Bitcoin, then there is no benefit from that Bitcoin. That is why it is important to educate them, not just the wallet security.

As someone who has been married for over 10 years and we both love each other, I suggest you never tell your spouse how much money you have because they will spend it in the shortest possible time. But I suggest you definitely write a will for yourself and ask your spouse not to open it until you die. I did this myself and include private keys of wallet in it
Unless your wife doesn't have future plans, that's the only time they can start thinking about spending lavishly because she sees money in bulk when her sense is supposed to think about multipliers in terms of long-term savings and profit instead.Adding it to the person's will also won’t be a bad idea, but there will be no harm in giving such information about my wealth to my spouse if I'm to be in your shoes.
