When Bitcoin declines or in bear market, altcoins can not perform well and in many years cryptocurrency market proves this fact. I even don't want to argue about it with you and others as history shows it very clearly.

Don't buy altcoins because they're top altcoins.
In bear market, top altcoins decline considerably like 90% and more from ATHs while weak altcoins can die very easily in a bear market.

There’s some fundamental that affects altcoin price such as exchange listing, news and other good update regarding the tokens.

There’s majority of altcoins follow Bitcoin trend but some excel due to their community strength to hype the market.

Bitcoin has a huge effect on the market especially the crypto market and as a result of this the volatility of bitcoin actually affects that of other crypto currencies. The volume of bitcoin and it's market cap contributes to how strong the general market trend is being it a buy or a sell. Based on your assumption if bitcoin was present and not moving either to the upside or downside, then momentum in the market will slow down. But if bitcoin isn't present for instance then the market will depend indirectly on the next highest currency at the time and it's effect will also depend on adoption and market volume.

Bitcoin is still the best coin ever and nothing shakes the faith of bitcoin because it's the leading cryptocurrency with the highest market cap. Some altcoins are being pumped and that pump wouldn't last. I don't see any altcoin that can do well in future compared to the milestone that bitcoin have achieved.

If bitcoin price is stagnant, it's only a temporary thing and the price will surely recover and maintain its nature. Bitcoin price movement is what controls those altcoins and don't think that a time will come for altcoins to do better than bitcoin because the adoption rate of bitcoin is increasing exponentially overtime. Exactly this is what the whole altcoin season is about, altcoin season happens only when the bitcoin dominance reduces, this has been long misunderstood by many thinking that bitcoin must actually dip before it happens but it is not just like you have said it is when the market has pumped and begins consolidation that the altcoin season begins because funds are moved there. If bitcoin dips every investor will be scared and no one will be going to gamble their money on shitcoins. From my little observation since I joined this wonderful family, altcoins have been following Bitcoin's price movement. Although in the past the crypto space has witnessed altcoin seasons, I am yet to see one now. Bitcoin is gaining more trust and adoption, and it seems like a lot of investors are now focused on Bitcoin.

I will advise newbies who are yet to gain full knowledge about how the crypto market works to only concentrate on Bitcoin for now until they are fully grounded. For now, avoid the risks of investing in pump and dump schemes, as they are usually very attractive but ride with the temporary hype.

But that is not really relevant, because on long term all (or let's be kind and say almost all?) did bad against Bitcoin. If people loss faith in Bitcoin then the market would crumble.
An altcoin or two can rise when Bitcoin is declining in rare cases due to FA
but most times their direction is influenced by Bitcoin and even after a pump
It usually falls lower than its lowest. When Bitcoin pursues ATH, altcoins pursue LTH.

Altcoin is controlled by its core team. If a project team takes care of their coin and provides large liquidity and can create hype on the token in the market by buying back and burning tokens as well as partnering with big companies etc. And the coins that are in the top position most of the time depend on the market trending and the price goes up and down depending on the movement of Bitcoin and also from some intervention of the team.

When the price of Bitcoin starts falling, there is a lot of volatility in the entire market. Because everyone is afraid that the market will enter a bear season, many people start selling their holdings, due to which the prices of other coins are seen to fall even faster because Altcoins have much less liquidity than Bitcoin, so their volatility is much higher. If the price of Bitcoin remains stable, then the prices of Altcoins get a chance to increase.

Most altcoins wait for Bitcoin price to pump before pumping along, some altcoins also pump on their own due to certain conditions and news which has nothing to do with Bitcoin pumping. Its quite okay to say some altcoins are hardly going to drop to zero market value, altcoins like ETH, LTC and BNB since they have more value and eligibility of reaching significant price.

Reason why not altcoins are safe to invest into, most of them get rugged at the start or between when investors begins to troop in. Bitcoin tops the charts when looking for coins to invest into, all others are secondary investment to Bitcoin after building a well planned Bitcoin portfolio.

Mostly altcoins depends on bitcoin, if bitcoin price is increasing, mostly we do expect altcoins also to increase, and if bitcoin Dey dump, you will find it difficult for any altcoins to pump, but when we are in altcoin season, bitcoin price might be stable, and we going to see different altcoins pumping during that period, but that doesn’t happen frequently, only when we are in altcoin season. But mostly we don’t always see other altcoins pump whenever bitcoin price is dumping.

Not until now after coming across this I now understand something relevant from what Pooya87 laid down here with the indifference and non-correlation in-between certain altcoins and bitcoin price market pumps and dumps.

 Many times that we get to see a lot of altcoins dumping when they are expected to following the surge with bitcoin price rise is because many of the investors in those altcoins pulls out their funds to put it in bitcoin as the price continues to rise and this leads to a dump in the altcoin market except for a very few coins.

As of this time there is just no assurance of its bull season anymore. Time has passed already and altcoins are still not making some pumps. So if there is a chance that altcoin may do well when BTC is not moving up, it would be a very slim chance.

Some altcoins believers are still optimistic about an altcoins season before 2025 elapses though. Something am not seeing happening. However, if it does, it wouldn't be for most altcoins and probably not as significant as we have had it in a merry-go-round with bitcoin ATH's just within the first half of the year.
