Important update for Yellow Card users

This is the first time i am ever hearing about this service, Yellow Card cryptocurrency exchange, and i have gone on to do a little research about it, there i found that it is labeled the largest centralized cryptocurrency exchange in Africa. I would love to read reviews from Nigerian users who have actually used this exchange to send or receive cryptocurrency, how was the process. I also read that you can convert cryptocurrency to fiat on Yellow Card, who has done this before?

Theirs something I want to know, the name yellow card is it the name of the exchange? If the exchange is centralised exchange that means their privacy will not that strong, if it is being established in Nigeria, EFCC can break in into their office and extract the data of anyone who has done business with them if their is accusations to their customers,so for me is not good to go into something that you have not fully understand the concept, we have so many exchanges in the field so we need to know that scammers are everywhere before they will scam some of us and go away with our coins

Am sure this yellow card management means well and mean business because of the way they were quick to send a notification to their valued customers, telling them of their future plans and including them before time to secure their funds and login information so as to prevent loss of funds or login access upon still trying to access their site via the web.
I don't think that i have come across any person who uses this app though for whatever reasons it is used for, but i am sure there are more popular apps with similar functions that wont jeopardize investment or savings plan without as a scare with a notification as these.

That said, @Frankolala, how long did you wait for your KYC information to be verified and when did you register, that is if you don't mind giving the information here.

I registered with the exchange early last year and everything went smoothly on KYC. After I had the experience of not being able to get a p2p merchant on Naria, I abandoned them. There was a time that they upgraded their system and they asked for KYC the second time. They couldn't verify my NIN till infinity which discouraged me from the exchange. Igebotz is right about what he said on KYC verification in the exchange. However, I still have someone using it and everything is working perfectly for him. Though, my face on my NIN ID isn't that clear but that's what I am using for my KYC in other exchanges and casinos.

Yes, it is a name of an exchange, and which we are discussing about on this thread.

Assuming I still use this exchange, this email would have been a warning sign for me and I would have stayed away from the exchange till further notice, at least when I know that everything has become functional again because this email seems like downgrading their services.

To maintain just the mobile apps will be easy than to mention them along with the website. I do not think what they did is wrong because everyone are now using mobile phone. Also, it is possible that they check people's means of visiting their exchange and noticed mostly from mobile devices. Although, maybe you are right, but I do not think so for now.

Now this agree with what I said before about our government banning access to websites of exchanges. I knew that started from that period they accused cryptocurrency of causing the crash of the Naira, one of the funniest and dumbest statement of those that we call leaders. I think it is has become obvious now that their decision to banned exchange websites did not yield any results because it did not stop people from using those exchanges neither does it slow down the adoption of cryptocurrency in Nigeria. I really know who is advising our government but the fact remains that those advisers are doing terrible job especially with cryptocurrency.

I don't know if it is only me but I hardly access any exchange through their website as they are banned by our government. Binance, Kucoin, Bybit and even Bitget websites are not accessible through their websites and the only way of access have been their apps so I don't know if yellow card was accessible before through their website as I have not used my account in that platform for a very long time since I made it.

Yes it's true that the URL of those top crypto exchange are all banned here in Nigeria, and that's the reason why you can't access it through your web browser, but as for Yellow card, I think the site is very much accessible through both web browser and app, and I'm still very skiptical on why should they want to block their URL and only make it accessible through the mobile app, because this is actually a red flag for me, of which if I was to have an account with Yellow card, I will just abandon it till further notice when everything might have stabilize. Because I actually see no reason why they should want to block their website URL, simply because they claim they want to offer better services on their mobile app.

I registered Yellow card early this year, but the KYC took forever to be verified. Abandoned as we speak.

Is this a one off or you know people that had similar issues? Did you try to reach out to their support team?

This is my personal experience, don't know if it's a general thing or just me but I can tell you for free, the whole KYC process is done manually. I got verified after a long wait. I logged in after this topic and got a pop up message to " input my BVN number" before I can make deposit.

But I am kind of surprised when I saw the email message because I do not think there would be any Nigeria that will use Yellow Card on browser instead of the mobile app. I guess everyone will have the app, but in case.

If you are using the web, you will not be able to access the exchange starting from next month which is August 1st. Let me quote what was sent through the email.

We would like to inform you about an important upcoming change to how you access Yellow Card.

From August 1, 2025, the Yellow Card Web App will no longer be available. We're making this change so we can focus on giving you an even better experience on our main mobile apps.

Your Yellow Card account and funds are completely safe. This change only affects how you access your account.

If you don’t already have the Yellow Card mobile app, simply download it before August 1st:

Android App: Download from the Google Play Store
iOS App: Download from the Apple App Store

Yellow am switching from dual means of accessibility to single means such like no more web app but only mobile app is what I can highlight to be a market strategy to increase profits turnout. How? You know that you don't get to have to  be asked to update your web access to their platform or any other platforms in general. Take the bitcointalk forum for example. We don't ever have to update anything.

But with mobile app, the users will be requested from time to time to update their mobile app. And there's a way these platforms makes it compulsory that you have no option but to update buy downloading the app again to be able to have access to their platform. Each update done is an increments of profit to them and imagine now that all their customers now have to use only the mobile app.

I have used such an exchange before. That will be annoying when even those highly well know exchanges are not doing something like that. I think either Luno or the shady Quidax was doing something like when I was using it but I think it was Quidax which I stopped using because of their scam conversion as they deduct significantly more fee than what is displayed.

Some Nigerians are really struggling with the device they use so they do not keep applications always on their phones unless those that are completely necessary and unavoidable.

I know people who would opt for the web version of an application just to be able to free up some space on their device. Unfortunately that is their struggles.

 I was about to ask the same question but let me get this straight with him - app updates is to protect the customers and to improve app performance, no company updates their apps to make money off it. It takes a lot of resources to improve app performance so they're literally spending more money to protect your interest.

Not just outdated apps, but also your entire mobile device.

Using an extremely old model phone or device can be a security risk because some security updates may not be available for it.

Changing your old outdated device is also a security measure.

Yes, reasons why outdated phones, software wallets, mobile apps get compromised so easily. You don't necessarily need to change your outdated phones, you only need to update it to the current software version.

I have only used it once and everything went smoothly during that period. However, a time came that I abandoned the exchange because I was unable to trade my USDT for fiat because the bank that I needed the money sent to wasn't available. However, you can only receive payments to a bank that isn't a fintech one. Their exchange rate is good. The exchange has only tron network for USDT then, I don't know if they have added other options. Their bitcoin address is SegWit bc1

If they are selective about banks there should be a reason for that. I find transactions using these bank I mentioned faster and without usual Nigerian banking wahala.

Yellow card is not your typical p2p market where you have numerous vendors to choose from and at your desired rate, they're more like swap/exchange where you sell to them and buy from them at their own rate.

When you opened an account and verified your IDs, one of the fintech bank accounts will be generated in your name and number where you can make deposit by transfer or card.

In term of exchange rate, most times Yellow card is lower compared to Bybit and the rest. However, I have seen a time that Yellow card exchange rate was the same rate with other exchanges but once in a while. Everything goes smoothly when you are using the exchange to trade your bitcoin to fiat but you should know that all exchanges have flaws.

I have heard about this service provider, but I have not been able to patronise their services as a result of the complaints I have been seeing online about them. Although I have seen some mention here but I am not convinced. However, it is nice that you have made this update known to the general house, so that people would be aware of the development for which they are discontinuing their web services, if I am not mistaken, because if the information is not properly disseminated to the wider audience or community, they might be taken advantage of by scammers who would not mind going to any extent to do a fake site just to get at the ignorant or uninformed users of the platform and prospective users as well.

Talking about Scammers using this platform to scam people, that one na for sure, na naija we Dey and na everything our scammers boys Dey use cash out, they don already get details about this new thing and if they tell you say some of them don start am you no go argue because na their work be that and it will be better if we be careful when it comes to exchange, we should know how we go Dey do things make our wise brodas no take advantage of us.

Some of the latest software versions are not available for older phones; one reason is because of the limited nature of some of the hardware used in the production of that device. For instance, some updates require the device to have a high RAM, which these older phones may not have

Charles-Tim thanks for update though I stopped using yellow card for quite some time now due to a bug I detected in their system, so I chose to play safe than place my hands on fire; you understand what I mean? well to be honest during my time using their services, I could only access, send and interact with their service using the Web page because the app had some bug in it and refused to perform some basic duties so even if i was still making use of their services, this message would have been a threat to my patronage of their service since i can't access their app. They should work other those bug before they loss more customers.
