Excellent news and long overdue. Supporting Monero is a must for any privacy service. This is true even if they would lose some fiat with terrible price performance, which is not the case with XMR but I am just saying. There is no other choice for privacy and anonymity.
According to kycnot.me, they're not really privacy oriented because they have terms to suspend account or require KYC if the government request.
I consider they're less privacy oriented, they're in the middle, that's why they can be popular.
KYC on authorities request
No routine KYC, but may cooperate with authorities, block funds or implement future KYC requirements.
You don't understand what you are reading or what you are writing. Proton is maximally privacy oriented as far as the law allows it. They have no choice. It is either comply or get shut down and imprisoned. Therefore, this is an unfair way to categorize them.
I see email service and VPN service listed on kycnot.me offer better privacy.
Very few have a proven track record as Proton, so they are more risky.
