Exchange rankings look different lately, anyone else noticed?

I randomly pulled up CoinGecko’s exchange stats today after a while and was surprised by how much the rankings have shifted.

Some names I expected to be top 5 aren’t even close anymore, and others I barely used to notice are suddenly climbing fast in daily volume. It doesn’t feel like a one-off either looks like a pattern forming over the past few weeks.

Not sure what’s driving it, better product design, regional user surges, incentives, maybe just timing? But it’s interesting to watch. The whole structure feels less predictable than it used to be.

Could it be CG ranking isn’t accurate anymore ? Or a shift in user behavior? figured I’d throw it out here

This is how a good stat should be. You can visit other sites like Coinmarketcap and you will see the ranking to be similar to each other. Or did you see something different on other sites?

With what I see on Coingecko, it is a good ranking. I prefer to check both sites before I choose an exchange to use for future trading.

I see the chart and find it completely normal if you see how aggressive some of the exchange in top 5 in doing their marketing.
Bybit has been having pretty good user growth so far and bitget is doing fine as well. Both of these exchange always push their volume with various incentives such as token splash and so on.

In short, there's nothing wrong with it.

That two exchange you mentioned there are basically doing an aggressive marketing because others on the top 5 are already well-known but their efforts have fortunately paid off because those two are not new on us anymore. It is only annoying sometimes to see them being shilled in the comments and posts.

Oh well, this can still be part of an aggressive marketing. When it comes to incentives, I think other exchanges has it too, though maybe the two have a little bit more to offer but there is a good chance that they will also normalise it like the others, once they already gained the trust of their users and eventually we can see a change in ranking again.

The top 5 become top 5 because I reckon they really like to list shitcoin and hypecoin a lot and as it happens the market also like it. That's why they got huge trading volume.
The rest aren't too fixated on listing shitcoin so they may have lower trading volume but they're as reliable as the top 5 if you can determine their credibility not based on volume alone but when those exchange are founded and the fact that they're still standing till this day.

When we do not have any mechanism of crossing the data provided by these exchanges to listing services like CoinGecko or coinmarketcap, I doubt about the possibility of high level of manipulations like paid services by these listing services to rank up. This must be a core problem of decentralization. Yeah, we do not have any regulating frame work hence we cannot verify any data provided by a service provider.

You mean those volume are real and just because of listing of new coin or a trading competition? Any exchange could manipulate their volume with their own accounts and fake trading. But, all these are just for luring naives for both trading and investing.
