In today's world information leaks has been a very difficult issue to be tackle or handled by website or socials that we give out informations to protect us, we have witnessed several hacks leading to informations people's information being used on the DarkWeb for activities that aren't speakable.

Hence protecting our information should be part of our top priorities not just here on the forum but including every where we find ourselves using the internet, especially our social media accounts. (This forum seems more secure with our informations but however if you commit a big crime that is way beyond the forum internal control the admins wouldn't mind giving your informations to the right authorities) however, we are advised to keep some information more secured by ourselves. If you care to know more about the forum privacy terms you can read them here: https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php

Enhance your information protection through the following;

1. Be careful what you share online; like I have said above be careful of informations you give out online, some websites have access to you deep information as soon as you accept there terms and conditions (TAC) or terms of service (TOS), you can read the documents provided by any sites before signing up, I know we have the habit of skipping terms and conditions but it's very important we read them, a good percentage of people don't usually read them but I employ you to start reading them if your privacy conscious.

2. Adjust your privacy settings: After reading through this thread you can adjust how you set up your privacy settings, it helps in keeping scammers away and other stuffs. Not everyone should be able to see your informations. Like in this forum you can hide your email as an example of privacy settings adjustment.

3. What you post matters: in this forum and any other place whatever you're posting is very important to you and the world at large, you could implicate yourself or anyone with what you post, so be extremely careful what you post and things you don't post.

Here in Nigeria, some of our people do not value privacy so they post whatever they see, currently getting a VISA to a country like the US and some other countries, they use high techs like Artificial intelligence to look in to your socials and see the kind of things you post related to their countries and can use that to deny you visa.

5. Use secured medias or avoid them totally;
Some of us here use telegram without adjusting our settings, it's very bad because since we just crypto groups on telegram and other socials to get informations some times scammers join those groups hence messaging you or sending unsolicited DMs come from there, so you can chose who can send you messages and how, that helps a lot to secure you from unsolicited DMs.

I hope you find this useful and use the information in this thread vitally!

Its  true most people doesn't  check the TOS of most website because Its  a leghty one  and some service do purposely do that to hideout their true intesions so it’s  good to read TOS especially if you would be engaging  financially  and sensitive data sharing.

Also, i would love to add it that if you trully want privacy when using the web then use Tor let it mix identity with millions of people accross the globe which will make tracking impossible.

AFAIK your ISP can track the stuffs you're  doing online plus they have your ip so if you don't  want that then use a trusted VPN[an untrusted one can sell out your datas as well] or  use TOR [if you like you can pair it with a trusted VPN  but not necessary]

A criminal is a criminal wether the person is a reputable member of the forum or not and good thing is that the forum stands really strong against anything that looks like a crime so there's no need trying to hide under the cover of the forum to carry out a questionable act.

If the context of the thread is to Advice criminal minded members of the forum to be mindful of what they share on the forum so they won't be fished out if they are caught committing any crime, then I don't know how useful this information is to member of the forum expecially members of the local board. Securing and ensuring that our information isn't leaked should be so that others don't use It against us. It's never a defense mechanism that we should adopt just because we are fraudulent.

This like a wake up call to all forum members, and to remind us one again that our privacy is our power and it most be  well protected.

Many have lost billions in dollars because of carelessness, our personal information is what represents you, and most not be exposed to any person, Hackers in present time has grown so advanced that with just a piece of information about you, you are  gone for life so I urge you all to be more careful when it concerns your personal information, mind every single step been made online not every link you click or every chat you respond to most of them are traps that with just a mere click you are gone, however when protecting your personal information becomes your first priority you rarely fall  victim of any kind.

Since the past two days I have been getting notifications from Facebook that someone is trying to hack into my account. Thankfully, I already activated 2 factor authentication. Facebook keep sending codes to my WhatsApp and I am wondering what have done for my account to be targeted by hackers. It is crazy. This topic is a reminder to protect at all coat your personal information. It will be costly to try to do it after the did has already been done.

Maybe you have a totally different understanding of my post.

Every website out there promises your data or information protected including this forum but in the privacy page they advice you to be the first person to protect yourself.

In the aspect you are talking about, what it means is that outside this forum if you happen to be a target or in a criminal related activities and the world is in quest of you, if they can't find your information else where they can come here and request from the admin just to track you down. This part is where you must keep yourself safe first, you may not be the criminal but stolen details can be used and then you get involved in what you don't know hence you're now a target will be given out without much consideration.

You see social media, someone should be careful of what they post there cos peso go fit use wetin you post in the past, to use am against you. If you stand by the truth or you live by fake life or a camelon.

I have seen it happen countless of times, of wetin peso post out for fun, na em peso remind am of in many years to come when em don forget am.

Em just d as our forum d so, we are building our reputation in here. How we decide to post or make our post, we will be judged or known by that. As the saying goes, the Internet never forgets. So it's the forum
